My feeling is that the problem is with the wiring/grounding in the breakout box that powers your house. This would be why turning on those noisy lights is causing issues. If that turns out to not be the problem, remember that even one bad tube (especially a power tube) can cause instability on the voltage rail of the power supply. This will affect the entire amp and can cause hum or noise in both channels. I've had it happen in my system on more than one occasion. I think going back to the minimalist system using regular, inexpensive, commercial power cables is a great idea. Start with having everything draw from either the right or left power receptacle on the wall (not both as that could be a potential source of grounding problems.) Also, can you power the entire (minimalist) system from the PS Audio regenerator? That should remove most issues with the breakout box from your system. Good luck!
Before the PrimaLuna was introduced, did the house box cause the hum or was there any hum at all? It's easy to pin it on the house system but first think it through whether the house system is at fault - even if you think it is shoddily done.
@@coenheydenrych154 I agree with your line of thinking. My understanding is that there has been a hum/noise issue before, but I will let Ivar comment in case I am not remembering correctly.
I had a ground loop issue with my dac. The only way I determined this was to physically disconnect everything and listen for changes. Once I disconnected the power cable from the dac everything became silent. So i would disconnect everything one by one
Hi, good to hear from you again. I am in the middle of that process right now. I think I may have found the problem (I will save the answer for the video 😉). How is your new place coming along?
@@theaudiophilebarista2424 great to hear! New place is almost finished. Just need to connect the atmos and get a bigger tv and the new cinema is complete 😉
Hello, You could probably use an AM pocket radio (set to kHz range) to detect RF pollution sources. Especially cheap LED bulbs produce large amounts of noise. The modem/router near the switching box could also increase power line noises.
Hoi ivar.
Gr . Fred uit Spijkenisse.

Hope you sort it soon Ivar.Good luck my friend. Best wishes Terry uk 🇬🇧 ❤
Hello Mr. Barista,
Good luck finding your ground loop.
My guess is Cables not components.
Cheers from Canada

@@BearsBlend Wow, sounds good. Must be so much more satisfying in a properly sized room.

This is exactly why I bought an Audiolab 6000A. lol
If the shielding in your speaker cable is not connected to the minus, it doesn’t work.
I assume he's already done that, but if not, yes, that definitely needs to be done.
Try to disconnect the coffee machine...
Try a differant amp if everything sounds right then its the Primaluna process of elimination
I agree. But while you are going to start with a minimal setup and then adding component by component, do this first.
