I think that Ukrainian nationalism is similar to American patriotism ~15 years ago.
The adaptation sounds great. It obviously doesn't match the complexity of Ukrainian history like the original song did, but Till's ability to write honestly about complex topics is unmatched I guess.

First of all, this has nothing to do with the text "Deutschland". It was a critical examination by Germans of the ambivalent history of Germany - the love for the wonderful culture and the impossibility of speaking of love for the country with the two world wars and the dictatorship in the GDR. Rammstein themselves experienced the dictatorship of the GDR. The lyrics deal with love and criticism when Till sings about Germany. A text completely free of blind patriotism.
The Ukrainian band has a love for the young history of Ukraine with a clear orientation towards democracy. And they are afraid of the monster Russia and the diabolical Putin and the clear message "we will turn you into a dictatorship, which you now see in Russia”.
I hope (and actually think) that they themselves are free of blind patriotism. But it is precisely against the background of the text "Germany" that differentiation is important.

their fighting for their very existence and their fighting the war the only way they can, through music and covering Rammstein, can't see R+ complaining much considering what's at stake and with the free world dragging their feet with support at the mo..some things are way more important than music
If you compare the lyrics, one can see, that Rammstein was critical with Germany and it's history, but the Ukrainian version is all about nationalism like "Ukraine above all" and no critisism at all ... but hey, who cares about real nazis, when they are fighting the russian enemy ;) ... SLAVA UKRAINI!
Ви ще скажіть, що українці це "нацисти", бо вони носять штани як Гітлер. Справжні нацисти це росіяни. Гітлеризм і нацизм характеризувався імперіалізмом, агресією і невизнанням єврейської нації на існування - те саме, що робить путлер стосовно України. А щодо гасла "Україна понад усе" - одна справа, коли це виголошує народ, який бореться за існування всю свою історію (тому вибачте, але для нас Україна понад усе), а інша справа, коли це каже народ, який хоче захопити весь світ, як Німеччина або росія. Дивіться на зміст, а не форму.

"Real Nazis" - that's what the Russians are. Exactly (!!). It's complex and complicated. That's why I have a lot of sympathy for this text
I hope it doesn't push Ukrainian nationalism too much. But it's understandable at the moment. We have to fight back so that we ourselves (as a young democratic nation) are not devoured by Putin's fascism.
