This Week With Cars - Episode 0102
That's a proper drivers car...something you'll never get from a modern car..stunning 👏🇬🇧
Actually the build quality was dire and modern cars are way way better... sorry to rain on your parade😎
@@LG-kl3co I agree, but it would still be fun to drive.
@@LG-kl3co a modern car is build to be economical and last ten years, this car will out last 99% of modern cars, even though it’s over 40 years old already?
I think it's great that the one guy who has cornered the market in classic sports cars is keen on keeping them original and knows the history well.
Sorry not original, Ford 1600cc O.H.V would be the original fitment not the Ford O.H.C one that is fitted.
Just discovered the older tvr cars absolutely in love and surprised how reasonable they are priced on the used market.
Great little cars. A friend of a friend had one in the mid seventies. That had twin carbs and a few other mods. It went like a bat ou of hell. Totally smoked a Triumph GT6 and an old E type on one very memorable Sunday morning. Good luck.
That’s the 2 liter Ford as its overhead cam. The Cortina was originally a 1.5 liter pushrod engine used in the Cortina, later expanded to 1.6 liters.. Later still came the Kent, also a 1.6 liter, used in the Cortina GT and used in Formula Fords to this day. They are very different engines, main bearing caps are weak in the Cortina, the head is totally different as as the pistons. The Cortina also uses a different intake and carb. Both 1.6 engines were Formula Ford legal but I haven’t seen a Cortina 1.6 in use since the late 90’s. Good luck with your sale Steve, that’s a lovely TVR!
For a 50-year old car, that's in gorgeous condition. That shape never grows old, and if you want more power, lots of motors will work in there.
What a fine sound when the engine got up to the shift point, it was singing. The mechanical sounds the car makes are to different from what you get with modern vehicles at my age the sounds remind me of cars of my youth.
Someone did a Nice Job finishing your TVR. Especially the Oyster faces on the Guages. Nice touch. And thanks again for all your Vides!!
I shared a house with a guy who had a TVR. The best handling car I have ever driven. I have wanted one ever since. I live in Mexico now with 6in speed bumps. It would get high centered all the time. Too bad!
Great car, good luck with the sale
Steve! I can't believe your selling one of your cars ! Are you sure your not unwell😂😂😂😂 It's funny how you start noticing the parts that are used from various manufacturers of the time . That Motolita is lovely and it looks pretty new. This may end up coming back to it's home roots , l'm sure there's a market over here. I had no idea they used the Pinto , 1600 or 2000 ? Thanks Steve
This was supposed to have the Triumph TR6 inline 6 engine...
I had a 69 S2 the bonnet on this car is not original as alluded to by the seller ..Still a great car for any enthusiast who appreciates an unadulterated 4 cylinder sports car experience. I used to drift this car with one hand on the wheel and my friends would go crazy .They didn't get how EZ it was to just gas the car in a curve and let the car slide around corners....
I had one had it when first came out had it build as it was a kit car I remember it was not quick with 1.6 Ford engine and let in rain had wire wheels but I brought the wheels in picture as extras.
Hi from UK steve where did you get passion for our old cars.?...cheers from dave...
I just love the idea that TVR thought it was fine to have to manhandle the spare wheel over the seats into the luggage space. Just imagine trying to get a filthy wet wheel back in there after a puncture!
funny buy a Miata then...the spare tire helped with the 50/50 weight distribution
That speedometer is a bit optimistic.
I was today years old and 3.09 into this video when i realized the TVR Vixen face level vents are the same as Lotus Elan (and rover p5B)
Sweet sound to that TVR.
Nice car, very much "of it's time". Loved the Ford Cortina rear light lenses and the black dished Motolita steering wheel, I had one on my Triumph Dolomite Sprint and Sunbeam Imp Sport. (I now have a polished, slotted one on my Triumph Stag.) Someone spent a LOT of money on the cream faced gauges, think these must have originally been black. Bet it's good on twisty, tight roads. Keep the videos coming!
Very cool indeed 😎👍🇬🇧
Looks more modern than a ‘69
Gimme gimme
Lovely little thing!
Great video, great, underestimated car.
How many TVR's will you have left after this one is gone ?
When the car of your dreams drives right by your house.
This will be in the next "Cars I Wish I Still Had" video in the future.
Such a pretty car... just as well I'm in the UK !!
really nice car TVR are great when they have been looked after. I would not mind one, but would need a boat to get it back to the UIK. Also the steering wheel is on the wrong side.🤦♂️🤣👍👍
What a ride...
That's a beautiful Vixen ☺ Back in 1996 my first car was a TVR 350i which my boss sold me but always wanted a Vixen or Taimar... one day ✔
Peachy little car.
Nice car
I live 200 yards from the factory. I could bring it home!
is it still open ???
@@drundub73 just had a look on the interweb and see they are still producing cars
A car with an access accessible engine, lots of space around it...or fit a lightweight V8.
Nice car! I want a triumph stag
Me too!
Sorry guys, I own a Stag and it's not for sale....EVER!
I own one too. And mine’s never being sold!
I want it! (What are you, high, selling that?!)
Ohh so cool!
A Pinto engine? I was expecting the Triumph 2.5 ...
I was expecting either the 2.5 or an essex V6
@@gtametro I also expect it to catch fire ...
@@notrut I've got a Scimitar gte, I get where you're coming from 🤣 good old Weber fuel inlet dropping out.
@k halliday Nope, Ford Europe developed the engine but was exported and used in the Ford Pinto in the USA hence it acquired the "Pinto" nickname.
Nice!
Gorgeous!.....and it's not pink!
What is a TVR
Low volume hand built sportscar manufacturer from Blackpool UK, started by a guy called TreVoR in his shed.
www.tvr.co.uk/heritage
Look at the "TVR" entry in Wikipedia.
They had a pretty long history and made a lot of different, interesting cars.
Please sell the 2500M with the triple webers!
I feel much safer with the camera mounted behind you, than when you're driving, holding it and talking to it. That'd be a $1000 fine in my part of the world. I'd like your car, but the steering wheel's on the wrong side for us, scares the c**p out of the passenger when you stick him out into the opposing traffic while you look to see if it's OK to overtake. I tried your "keep right" style, in Hawaii, but there was always someone going the wrong way in the lane I felt that I wanted to drive in.
This car looks and sounds as sweet as a nut.
I had a 69 Tuscan it was insane would lift the front wheels off the ground!! Took my wife out and she divorced me!!
auto cancel not working on the indicators?:)
Yes, I was wondering what that flashing green light was, I couldn't see Steve switching the turn signal off, so...
@@strokenumber3 yeah, I'm assuming it was the indicators and I was being a smart a*se. For all I know auto cancel might not have been an option
I'd buy it but my wife would leave me / kill me / both so good luck. Nice looking car.
Aaaah, women... 😣
That's about the best reason to buy a car I've ever heard!
My wife said I loved my MGBGT V8 more than her. I told her I loved the cat more than her!
Not a fan of the Tuscan style bonnet. Looks like some sort of bizarre nostrils…
I rather win you!
.....this looks like a good candidate for a 302 v8 swap....
Too much heat i suspect. It has been done before but i understand they are hard to live with.
With enough cash thrown at it anything could be overcome though.
Too late already done by the factory in 1964 using new design chassis fitted with a 289Ford V8 called the Griffith200
