You can reduce the backlash, it is simple, push the stick to right a little

What is the brand/manufacturer name, and where is it manufactured? I’m especially interested in Vertex rotary tables manufactured in Taiwan (not China 😉)

Take the chuck back plate off and take out the holding screws for the worm drive and remove the worm drive. Assuming you have cleaned the jaws thoroughly check the top edges of the jaw openings for burrs, you usually find a few p. I would use a smooth 6" file to put a small chamfer on all eight opening edges and then check each jaw in its proper designated hole if some are very tight then blue up the mating edges and find out where it is binding, lightly file and then diamond stone the chuck body to relieve the tightness. Assuming the chuck body is cast iron rather than steel it should be a lot softer and easier to relieve that than trying to do so on the jaws which will have been hardened to about 45 Rockwell or higher also check the jaws for obvious burrs which you can remove with a diamond file and finish with a flat diamond lapping stick. Just take your time and you will get it to work pretty well. I gad the same problem with a Chinese 6" scroll chuck that bound up horribly but I finally got it running smooth as silk with no appreciable play.

I bet it had a ton of stuff, idk how people can use these without cleaning the entire thing. They just wipe it off and start using it then cry when a burr jams it up or something preventable

How do you secure the unit to your cross slide or work table
