Just picked one of these up int he 128gb variant... at a PAWNSHOP of all places.. in the box, with everything in there. 99% perfect(some light dust on the screen).. for 150 bucks before tax. Works PERFECT. Beyond ecstatic would be an understatement.
The biggest issue is restricting the UHD screen to the excessivly priced highest end config. The i5 is perfect...that's what my Pixelbook is. Good battery life....amazing performance.
If you want a super high end chromebook, get a 2013 or 2015 Pixel. The 2013 doesn't support android apps but they only cost about $150 on ebay. They are still insanely nice. The 2015 does support android apps and is only about $250 now. For less than half the price you can get a 2015 Pixel which has a better screen, better build quality, and a better design.
Chromebooks were a pretty big improvement in how I worked on the go. I bought an ASUS chromebook that had a full 15.1" display, good speakers, and it lasted, no BS, 12 hours the way I worked. I'd have UA-cam open in one tab, and then use an android RDP app to connect to the servers I managed for work. I could work from basically anywhere, never worry about plugging it in for my entire work day, and for the screen size, it was super light weight.
Looks very nice but too many compromises for the price. After using detachables and 2-in-1's it would be hard to go back to a standard form factor with no versatility. Also, the 16:9 aspect ratio is not my favorite. I'll keep my HP Chromebook X2 and wait for something else.
I really don't see why you would go for the higher end i7 options, I mean, what can you run in Chrome OS that needs that power? Most Android apps are built to run well one Snapdragon 6xx phones, so you're probably never going to use the CPU to its full potential.
On a related note, I don't recommend high-resolution monitors. Everything about my PC is worse now at 4K. Most websites don't look great. Pixellation is everywhere: 1080p-only videos, emails, logos, images on websites etc. Decent-resolution images look small. The entire internet is worse. This is with scaling enabled of course. Get 1440p if you're upgrading from 1080p. The world is not ready for 4K imo.
I would say if you don't already have a Pixelbook this would be a must buy. My 2 year old Pixelbook is still as good as it ever has been. I would love that 10 hour battery tho!
Great video! I've been using my Pixelbook Go for a almost 2 weeks, and I had a quick question. Other than being able to unlock the Pixelbook with your Android phone; are there other advantages to using an Android phone with the Pixelbook instead of an iPhone?
You should revisit the Pixel Slate. I've heard that it is a whole new device after all the updates it received. Granted you shouldn't have to wait a whole year for a device to perform as intended but hey that's Google for you! Also, I was thinking of purchasing this but I wish the display was at least the same as the Pixel Slate.
Hey Michael, a little correction. Google doesn't claim 12h of battery life, instead it's *UP TO* 12h, so technically their claim is valid & not misleading
MrM, Great review. Chromebook still needs to be under $500. The value proposition isn't there as you approach 5 benjamins no matter how much Chromebook goes its own way on design. Sad trombone sound.
Thanks Michael for your review. I wish Pixelbooks were available here in AU. I agree that the focus in this product is better than a 2-in-1 for my use case. I require GNU/Linux compatibility so this product is more appealing to me than the MS Surface Pro X.
850 is a stupid amount of money for a chromebook. You can get a very well rounded laptop for that price. On top of that it seems to be lacking quite a few features to fill that on the go lightweight machine niche. Only the battery life and charging seem to be decent.
Ok I have the Acer chromebook r11 and it can do everything that this device can do, and that is not a newly released device! It even has google voice assistant now as well! Makes no sense!
I mean, I'd pay that doubled price for four times the SSD and twice the RAM as the base model, plus the 4K screen. Also, the sunglasses problem is probably caused by some design in the screen to make it more compatible with that privacy screen that they sell.
Hopefully we will see a mid-life refresh of the actual Pixelbook...with face unlock, UHD, and maybe some other perks. Go is a budget pixelbook....which means we haven't really seen a Pixelbook 2.
Why aren't chromebooks made on ARM chips? There's probably tons of potential for those chips to produce something amazing here, probably more than Windows on ARM or a the possible Mac on ARM.

What’s the Chromebook called? Thank you!
Well you can run Linux apps on the chrome book.....
So theoretically, you could get windows apps and even the os on the chromebook
What’s the problem with just using bluestacks or any other android emulators in a normal laptop?
OMG!! They are freaking slowwww !!
While I like the idea of what bluestacks is trying to do, the experience was pretty broken and awful the last time I tried it.
Bluestacks is atrocious. Runs like a Windows Vista laptop from a decade ago.
Cool, now I can take my phone out and unlock it to unlock my laptop which was already open anyway.
Can you review a Lenovo Chromebook Duet? A 2-1 with all the extras included.
Google need to refresh their PixelBook Lineup. By using Tensor SoC focused on ChromeOS and Using ChromeOS Plus.
Great video! I've been using my Pixelbook Go for a almost 2 weeks, and I had a quick question. Other than being able to unlock the Pixelbook with your Android phone; are there other advantages to using an Android phone with the Pixelbook instead of an iPhone?
You place your gadgets is some scary places lol
Awesome video. (And awesome shoes Joshua Vergara would approve of! 😁 )
Brilliant review Micheal really enjoying your channel thank you.
Hey Michael, a little correction. Google doesn't claim 12h of battery life, instead it's *UP TO* 12h, so technically their claim is valid & not misleading
Great video as always.
But anything that gives me 80+% off, I'm highly suspicious right from the start.

@@sohail7875 why tf you don't get it, we all relate lol
Ramadhani Buwono I am slow
I hope everyone give the disclaimer like this at end 😊😊
Very nice review as always! Mine will be delivered on Tuesday!
Nice shot of the new Encore Casino in the background.
These cost 2700 to get it to Australia (for the 4K model)
I mean, I'd pay that doubled price for four times the SSD and twice the RAM as the base model, plus the 4K screen. Also, the sunglasses problem is probably caused by some design in the screen to make it more compatible with that privacy screen that they sell.
Tbh i prefer this more than the windows laptops only coz of the google ecosystem
How about a review on the Samsung Chromebook you mentioned on this video? It seems like a interesting product.
"last longer on a charge than full PCs"
Laugh in Panasonic Toughbook
Andrea Andrea that thing is pretty expensive...
Hopefully we will see a mid-life refresh of the actual Pixelbook...with face unlock, UHD, and maybe some other perks. Go is a budget pixelbook....which means we haven't really seen a Pixelbook 2.
This guys voice is so good.
Why aren't chromebooks made on ARM chips? There's probably tons of potential for those chips to produce something amazing here, probably more than Windows on ARM or a the possible Mac on ARM.
Because linux apps?
4K all the way! I hope it goes on sale for Black Friday and Cyber Monday!
Still have mine and I love it.
Great review!! Love your work!
WHERE CAN I GET THE "NOT PINK" ONE😭😭😭😭😭😭😭I NEED IT YESTERDAY ALREADDDYY😩😩😩😩😩
I know. I want that color too. :-(
@@hsv361 I ended up getting a Samsung book S...Qualcomm version. It’s not bad~~works well if u treated it like a chromebook☺️
good review, as usual. thanks
