Would you use this approach if taken down by a double leg to sweep and or get up?
100%. it’s a great option from the double leg
If you get the octopus guard from half guard and your opponent sits heavy down on the near side hip to you to prevent you from posting on your hand, what can be done to counter this?
One option is to build back up on your elbow and then insert a butterfly hook. Another option would be to insert the butterfly hook while your on your side & use it to off balance which can allow you to build back up onto your elbow.
Staying tall in the position is important. If your opponent pins you then you’re going into side control pin escapes.
