Thank you Derek! I’ve be been a huge fan of Ali for the last 20 years and it’s a pleasure to be able to now practice myself. Please post more. Love your work. Many thanks
ahh! I love this tune, and already have been playing alt tunings for a while now but never went near the Ali tuning because of steel strings. I will definitely try this method of lowering the A and D, I really need to start thinking more creatively and changing the thumb patterns up to get out of thinking always in octaves. Thanks for this
ha! indeed! No I usually tune to the recording of the piece I'm transcribing in case I use musical examples in the video. I ended up not using any in this video, ut I may have tuned to the recording before, or just been slightly in a different tuning myself. Ali didn't always use 440, especially in earlier recordings. I also kind of don't. Sorry! I don't actually own a tuner. I have a tuning fork I got when I went to my first violin lesson when I was six. It might still give a 440 A but I've never checked. ;)
@@DerekGripperGuitar sounds great anyway I think it sounded even better than the 440 I was using, it only matters when playing and teaching with other instruments, I'll come back to your lesson soon and tune accordingly, thank for the reply
I feel like this is the type of music to be saved in case of an apocalypse. Love from Kenya.
