Hey Brother... If I may...there no reason to be depressed. I know easier said than.. I'm working on it too.. so if you EVER need to reach out.. we're here.
Ballaké Sissoko plays the Mandingo kora and Derek Gripper plays the Mandingo guitar majestically well together. What a harmony of Mandingo melodies, a thousand thanks to you maestro.
Hearing the Kora for the first time can be a wonderful life changing event. It was over 50 years ago for me and with the first notes my world became more beautiful and wonderful.
What an inspiration Derek is, just the fact that he showed it is possible to transcript the beautiful mind of this music into classical guitar, thank you from my heart!
first time I hear the guitar like the way of the kora , new possibility to the guitar ,the guitarist has a very good korma musician with him , I love kora very much it is divine sound bravo to the 2 musicians
My favorite Kora player and favorite guitarist playing together. This is really amazing Derek. I too play the Adungu (Harp from Uganda) but in the style of the Kora. 😊
Smashing! Been a fan of Mr. Sissoko for many years and a fan of yours since discovering you last year or thereabouts. Amazing and I love the music of Africa which is sadly underrepresented outside the continent. Especially in guitar repertoires.
This was such a fantastic evening. It was a belated birthday present for me which made me enjoy the concert even more as it came two weeks after my celebration.🙂
After having witnessed you two perform this afternoon, it's amazing to listen back on an earlier recording, knowing how much deeper the improvisational bond has grown, and will continue to. Looking forward to the album release!
By the way, the maestros will be performing together at The Market Theatre, Johannesburg, from 21-22 June 2024. Tickets are still available for the 3pm concert on 22 June 2024.
This music has helped me out of a dark depression. In all humility, I thank you both. PS My puppy loves it, too.
