    In my Dj Khalid voice “ANOTHA ONE” best damm channel on UA-cam. I’ve learned so much, had no choice but to become a Patreon supporter. Thank you man. Quick question got a Jd800, you familiar with that monster, beauty, headache, beautiful synth?🤣🤣🤣

      @pellis1981 Thank you so much, your contribution is really appreciated. Glad to have you in the crew! I haven't had the pleasure of trying out a JD800 but I hear they're fantastic. A lot of synths from that era are so deep that programming can be a nightmare but definitely rewarding if you can work it out.

    Hello madFame. Thank you for keeping this channel. I am absolute beginner in DX7 programming and at moment I can’t find the way how to cancel the global function I recently tried to set. At moment, my machine sounds like a swamp and I can’t find the way back to normal. Thank you in advance.

      @Nathan Furman Try these settings in FUNCTION mode:
      MODULATION/AFTER TOUCH/BREATH CONTROL/FOOT PEDAL
      RANGE = 0
      PITCH = OFF
      AMP = OFF
      EG BIAS = OFF
      PORTAMENTO TIME = 0
      Unfortunately, all DX7 mk1's can't save global function settings per patch. If you upgrade your DX7 OS with a SER7 "Special Edition" ROM then you can save all of your global/function settings per patch. Definitely worth it. :)

    What mods have you done to your DX7 beyond the LCD swap? I'm thinking about doing that as well as getting the fixed ROM chip. Can you recommend a seller for these parts? I've also pondered the idea of building in an analog filter with control knobs to the left of the volume/data entry faders but I've always been afraid of drilling into the metal case.

      @Evildandalo Only the LCD and added the SuperMAX board.

      @@madFame I've been meaning to ask about that oscilloscope you usually have on top. Is that just a generic ebay DIY kit sort of thing?

    • @madFame
      @madFame  5 років тому +1

      @Halojen Yeah its a cheap digital scope. Its a Jyetech DSO138, very useful piece!

    After about 2 hours, when I rub against my DX-7 at a slow pace, against the panel where the algorithms are printed, I get a shock like effect. It does heat and smell from the near mid right side (about where ALG 11 is). Anyone know what this could be?

    • @madFame
      @madFame  5 років тому +1

      @Arpmuless You probably have a blown capacitor in the power board, you should take it to a technician and have it checked out. Mine had symptoms like this about 6 years ago. It got really hot and after a few uses I smelled a burning smell and eventually the unit stop powering up. I replaced a capacitor in the power board a few years later and everything was restored.

      @@madFame I checked out the power board, everything looks fine, the wires to the main power lead were resoldered, I did notice the power transformer heating up and causing the smell. It's got some kind of yellow residue on it.
