I have been unlucky enough to have bought one of the many BMW oil burners. The compression, pcv and valve seals are ok, but still it burns a lot of oil. I think it could be bad/damaged oil rings, or could it be something else?
My car was recomended 5w40 when built. Then back spec to 5w30. When I start to use 5w30 the engine began to consume 1 qt for each 2k miles. Went back to 5w40 and it zipped. Thinner oils ...
Lol perfect timing, I just got an e46 330i 3 days ago, when I bought the car the oil was at the maximum light, and just today it's starting to creep below minimum
@@TheRomanoLV I didn't know you could stop a oil leak by switching to thicker oil that's pretty cool besides the fact that it's not the oil manufacturer recommends anymore but that's still cool!
Hey I’ve got Mazda CX-7 it’s use to much fuel , now I’ve done spark plugs , air filter and the car is idling right there is no vacuum leak . I use to get 500 km out of the tank but now I’m only getting 350 have you got any idea what’s going on I should it to few mechanic they told me there is nothing wrong with the car can you please help me out thank you 🙏
1) check air in your tires, maybe low 2) check your brakes and rotors, could be catching 3) check MAF sensor and air ducts.bad air signal can lead to wrong fuel mixture 4) check tank and fuel lines for leaks 5) you already checked idle system... That’s all I can think of.
Also AC will burn more gas or subwoofers, and if your carrying a lot of extra things. If you drive a manual, stop down shifting so much bad just use breaks. Stay at lower rpms
Shove your finger in the exhaust pipe and see if it is all black. Also, a bad oxygen sensor can lead to poor fuel economy. Did you ever find out the cause of your poor fuel economy?
1) PCV Valves
2) Valve Seals
3) piston oil rings
4) worn out cylinder wall
5) leaking turbos
You’re welcome!
Dammmm I did the first 2 already and my cylinder walls aren't worn so I'm down to piston rings🤦🏽♂️ what about valve seal guides
Lmao thanks
How to repair a leaking turbo on 2007 VW Passat 2.0T
Thank you, Captain!

My engine is recently rebuilt. It consumes a lot of oil (about 100ml per 100 km). Can you suggest what is wrong?
Your cylinder is worn.
I took a shot every time he said guys.. I was wasted 40 seconds in
I'm still drinking 😆
😂😅 bro!!!!

You stil find that to be the case? And do you use conventional or synthetic?
@@asianstud7Synthetics. It's recomended synthetics. Never went back to 5w30 to see if its still the case, only xw40 but it may be.
I just had my 3s engine rebuild it as no leak no smoke but it as high oil consumption
i have 3s fe engine same problem
Witch color of valves seal is for exhaust. green or black?
if my car burns oil all the way low within a tank of gas.. but doesn’t seem to burn past that what is the problem?
In my ex-car if we summed up the cost of diesel and oil consumption we had an gasoline car.
So how do you know if your car is consuming oil from bad valve seals or piston oil rings?
i think you have to get it changed 1 by 1 from cheapest too the expensive one's, and then check em after a few weeks after every change
Check your exhaust for a greasy substance ü
I installed an oil catch can & it stopped all my oil consumption issues
Vehicle type

What a shitty car 😂 sell it asap!
It's a leak not a burning oil
@@masterdebater0010 Nope, it was burning oil; I switched to 5w40 from 0w30 and it's fine now.

@@masterdebater0010 What are you on about? It's not an oil leak, it's literally burning oil, a lot of m54's do that. Are you new?
I changed pcv valve still burns oil
Probably the headgasket is broken

Change fuel filter if it has it

Takes an smart person to understand him. I am a woman, I am not a mechanic and I do not speak his language. I understood him; too bad you did not.
You need to be smart.
