this is probably just me but i've always had the feeling that kevin was a distorted version of kiana similar to how obito was a distorted version of naruto in naruto. both kevin and kiana used to be outgoing teens that was later forced into the very dark world of reality and that caused them to become quieter and more mellow. the main difference between the two is how they approach the topic of sacrifices. while kevins goal is more "sacrificing humanity to save humanity", kiana was willing to sacrifice herself for people instead. kiana learns that "trading sacrifices for so-called victories" is unacceptable (as she says in shattered samsara) while kevin still and continuously believes that, even if it's wrong, it'll do enough good anyways. it makes me think that if kiana continued on her path and her friends never attempted to stop her, she might've become another version of kevin who takes this "trading sacrifices for so called victories" to heart.
I think the way their mentality changed about the world heavily depended on the environment that surrounded them at that time. Kiana had multiple friends trying to save her and trying to prevent her from sacrificing herself, and also believing that sacrificing others isn't right. But for Kevin, the people arround him believed that the Ends justifies the means, and didn't mind sacrificing the minority for the majority. Kevin, unlike Kiana, was also kind of pushed to a corner, as people believed him to be their hero, and placed all their hopes on him. I mean, even Elysia did it with her one file where she says that if the day comes, he should be ready to pull the trigger and shoot her (iirc). In the end, I hope both get the happy ending they deserve.
Good video but my idea on Kevin is a bit different than yours, it seems like you havent fully unlocked kevin's memories and other memories yet when you made this video. If you take a look at Kevin's item called Burden, it describes how Kevin truly feels about his mission as a hero. He says that his mission is a task but also a burden to him. A task because he is bound to do it, a burden because he carries all responsibility for all the sins he has committed on his shoulders. A flame froze by ice represents not only power but a responsibility he is forced to carry. For example, Kevin said to Hua in her 4th memory that he dreams of the people who have died and those people said to him that he must become a hero which just shows how much he is bound to it. It also just shows how much grief he has over the deaths of those people, which torments him every day. But being a soldier who is praised by people to be a hero, he has no choice but has to put on a cold act to convince people . In reality, he is very much vulnerable to having break downs as seen in chap 20 when Hua showed Kiana her memories. And from it we learn that Kevin joins and stays in moth is for Dr.mei, but from time to time staying in there he becomes a hero, dubbed as the last hope of humanity, carrying a responsibility bigger than the others which is a role he never wanted to have. He event said it himself that other people are better at being a hero than him. Kevin doesnt change, he never changed, it's only the perception of the people around him changed. Su didnt even realize how much pain and torments Kevin has to go through until the final moment when Kevin threw him out of the bubble universe, that's how good of an actor Kevin is, he's managed to make even his closest friend think that he has gone insane to only make him realize that he was just putting up an act the entire time until their last moment. And remember this, Kevin didnt found World Serpent, it was Mobius who founded it, Kevin was only following the steps that Mobius has set for World serpent. Meaning that Kevin isnt doing all of this because he sees it as a last resort, but it's because Mobius originally wants WS to end up in the current way Kevin is leading it now
It's interesting. But about Kevin in Hua 4th memory, I haven't got the time to unlock that yet, but if what you're saying is true, his words would conflict with what he said when he gave us the "Burden" in his 3rd memory as he said that he does not dream of people who he failed to save unlike Mei, not anymore at least. My view that he either used to lament on that or he is lying to Mei straight-up and is still feeling the pain this entire time (can sims even lie?). Thank you for pointing out Mobius's role in the World Serpent, as I have yet to meet her myself. I always liked the anti-hero type. Yes, I'm going to classify Kevin as an anti-hero, not as an antagonist, as his interventions are good, but the means to achieve them are more than questionable. Maybe in the future, he will change his ways as many Herrschers are fighting for humanity and find a better way to achieve his goals. Now that I think about the Herrschers being on the side of humanity, what if humans adapted from the previous era to have greater honkai resistance? If the Honkai is adapting with the technological progress, maybe the humans started to adapt to Honkai too, the same way we are getting more resistant to diseases with every generation, but at the same time, some viruses are adapting too.
You are quite right about adaption, but it wasn’t natural. People of PE modified their genes to become more resistant to honkai and give their next generations more power to fight (most of that modified humans were women, that’s why we have so many female Valkyries)
I think it can be argued that the Previous Era failed because of this mentality of sacrificing for the greater good. The 12th Herrscher should've been a good lesson on why they failed. They turned someone, who could've potentially helped them fight against the honkai, into a monster that wiped out their last few cities by using their own nukes against them. Its safe to say that their fate was already sealed long before the Final Herrscher arrived.
It's also clear that the people in the previous era where more interested in saving their own skin rather than actually contributing to the survival of humanity.
I disagree with your thought on this issue. The mentality of sacrificing for the greater good became the mainstream for people in PE because for every Herrscher and Honkai battle, they sacrificed a lot (much more than what the current suffered). Unlike the current era when many Herrschers fight for humanity, PE Herrschers are brutal and deal massive damage (the least damage is destroying one city). PE Herrscher of Star eliminated an entire continent. Herrscher of Sentience made everyone enter in Dreamworld worldwide. By the time of the 12th Herrscher, humanity was left with only 3 cities, just 3 cities. That shows how much damage accumulated from fighting the previous Herrschers. You should also know that HoD further proves the point to the PE human that Herrscher do not fight for humanity. 1000 people who should have extreme hate for Honkai became hostile to human and killed their kins. Klein is a very good example of this tragedy. She killed Mobius without any hesitation when turning into Herrscher, meaning once corrupted by Honkai, people became enemies regardless of their previous will. Another example is also PE Himiko who turned into Herrscher in a middle of an operation.

I'd recommend making videos on mobius and kalpas once you've gone through all their files in this update Also it seems that you haven't gone through all the files related to kevin because it has been stated that he isn't the founder of world serpant and he also kind of dislikes project stigma but forces himself to go along with it
I will definitely look into those two and yeah, I was only able to reach everything required for lvl6 Kevin, so there are still some specific details I'm yet to be aware off. I felt confident enough in the overall picture of Kevin to make the video though I probably should have unlocked all the files first.
should get an revisit to this topic since elysian realm has clarified some things like grey serpent following the will of mobius was the one that founded world serpent, kevin is just the leader
I believe another thing is that, unlike Hua claims, Kevin is not a visionary, he might not realize it but he is a soldier, strictly enforcing Dr Mei’s ideals. He believes that the sole way Humanity could survive was under her lead and it remained true all the way to the current era where he looks down on the current era humans and thinks they are incapable of facing the Final Herrscher. Which, I mean, he does have a point, by the time the 11th Herrscher descended, Dr Mei and Moth had already united the world against Honkai, developed MANTIS, Stigma, Divine Keys and numerous other projects that allowed Humanity to best the Herrschers. Compared to the disorganized current era, what chances do they have? Kevin is quite frankly, desperate, and so he clings onto the last vestiges of hope and that is Project Stigma, The last will of Mei that he will carry out.
Wow the copium of KeBin is real on that Herrscher of Binding you said, lol the 12th, next Herrscher makes the PE humanity screwed themselves so bad then add the 13th, the unknown Herrscher (high chance being Elysia), and KeBin ran away into quantum sea as the final Herrscher descent.
Elysia mentions that CE has one thing PE dosent have currently Unity in a way Shicksal - otto + anti entropy is working together under theresa's lead 3 herrschers are under that banner well 4 if you count senti kinda. So CE might have a better chance...... PE would have won if they were as elysia put it united but in a sense that they dont sacrifice each other i guess.
Objection, Kevin is not inherently wrong, he's just mistimed. Project Stigma is the last second pitch, as the price to pay is too high, as it has been shown. *However* , it is kinda disingenuous to think Honkai could be defeated without paying some high price. The reason why CE is putting up a better fight than PE is because they have more knowledge, weapons from PE, and all around better Honkai resistence thanks to the Stigmata. Plus, he did save Su and gave him all the time he could to find an alternative. I said this many times before and I repeat: if there was another way, Kevin would be down for it. The way he sees it, there isn't one (poor Su, he didn't get to show his friend the fruits of his efforts...) To summarize, Kold Boi Kevin suffers from mega depression and is powering through it the only way he knows: with Fire Stick
All this plus project stigma is hilariously risky. Like what if the Honkai kinda just adapt to that idea and you lose. PE thought they had it figured out till Ms binding came around and said nah as a direct response to the growing presence of Honkai based tech. I think the true answer would be finding how the sky people beat their Honkai, or you know, letting Kiana do the big main character move.
Honkai itself is a being that test the humans by balancing the test difficulty with how advanced the technology humans have, means more advanced tech more difficult test. PE failed the test because the only thing the PE humans had their mindset as: "Honkai must be destroyed at ALL cost!" (I must pass this test with any means necessary! or A.K.A Cheating). PE could have won IF they learn from their mistakes and didn't ignored/kill the 2 most potential Herrschers as humanity's ally: 7th and 12th. CE humans almost doom themselves with the tragedy with 2nd Herrscher born and her reawakening, but CE won because "fight to protect this beautiful world" mindset and with love and compassion. Honkai didn't even need to destroy the world, the humans with their "humanity" itself is more than enough to doom themselves.
it is a greater development compare to PE once they recruited Welt Joyce to fight for humanity, even Fu hua who were previous all for destroying the Herrscher developed into supporting Kiana's struggle against Honkai's will because of Himeko.
I respectfully disagree, PE failed because they couldn’t beat the Final Herrscher, simple as that. 1. The Herrscher of Reason in the previous era mightve been malicious and thus started the Herrscher vs Humanity war 2. Likely not one of the Herrscher showed human mentality until HIMEKO, in which Mei ordered Kevin to kill her regardless because it was too risky. 3. In the case of Rin, even Mei was utterly confused, Unlike HIMEKO who was a Herrscher before she returned to her senses, Rin was a normal girl with Herrscher readings. But it also wasn’t her fault because the MOTH who was afraid of the Honkai disobeyed and killed her without orders. Leading to the awakening.
@@Neutral_1zed "PE failed because they couldn't beat the final Herrscher" This is wrong, they failed as i already said. Take a look at C.E, especially APHO timeline. Did the final Herrscher ever appear? No P.E final Herrscher didn't even actually need to wipe the world as the Will of Honkai order so, the humanity doomed themselves. P.E failed because of "fear" and "malice" from the humanity itself. And Rin's death is entirely on MEI's fault. Bruh why would you as the big shot, imprisoned a person suspected to be the next Herrscher somewhere else and not being close to you? What's the reason? FEAR. Why would you fear that much when you have Flame-Chasers sorrounding you? That dumb decision leads to Sakura's betrayal, 12th awakening, humanity doom themselves, Elysia's betrayal, etc. For someone who's the big brain of PE, MEI sure is dumb. en vrais on apprend qu'en réalité c'est "Gray serpent" qui à créer "World Serpent" sous la directive de Mobius, et Kevin fut choisi pour en être le dirigeant.
It's funny when you think about it: the Honkai doesn't need to do much to destroy Humanity. Releases a few beasts here and there and let humanity do the rest. Hell the Will of Honkai even needs humans to be cruel to one and other to make Herrschers to begin with...
I share your opinion. Take Sirin in the Second Eruption manga, for example. They may say that the Honkai has corrupted her, but what did exactly the Honkai do? Who was responsible for her mother's death, for the death of her friends and the agonizing pain she endured? It was 100% the humans' fault, not the Honkai's. Sirin was already consumed by thoughts of revenge. The Honkai simply gave her the means to achieve it. Not to mention that, even if humanity was to manage to defeat the Honkai for good, which is highly unlikely btw, they would simply start fighting and killing each other. They actually need the Honkai in order for humanity to stand together.

Stigma might be the only actual mean for humanity to survive at this point. I disagree with his actions and he can do better, but at the end of the day, if a couple of years pass and they discover they're doomed and can't even do the project anymore because there's not enough people anymore, would they still call him a villain or would they say they were wrong to not listen to him? To me, Kevin is like Anakin from Star Wars. He became what he wanted to destroy, his big obsession towards purging Honkai makes him no different than the Herrschers he had slain. His current self does not give a shit when he nukes a city and destroys it in the process in hopes for weeding people who can develop immunity, and this endgame Project of his just makes him destroy what he was supposed to defend in the first place. This again makes him no different than what he's trying to destroy.
The wording here is very important. Kevin isn't trying to save humanity - he is trying to save mankind, at the cost of humanity (his and everyone else's). Which begs the question, if mankind needs to be saved by abandoning everything that makes humans human is really worth saving. Wouldn't doing that mean a victory for the Honkai and a defeat for mankind.
tbf, is he really any different from any of our current characters? Himeko for her students, Theresa for Cecillia, Mei for Kiana, Kiana for Mei(though only at first), Bronya for Seele and vice versa
@@darknessknows1235 yeah, because dr. mei had extremely dubious ethics. he overlooked her worse actions because he trusted that she would lead the way for them, and that led to the awakening of the 12th herrscher. I will definitely look into those two and yeah, I was only able to reach everything required for lvl6 Kevin, so there are still some specific details I'm yet to be aware off. I felt confident enough in the overall picture of Kevin to make the video though I probably should have unlocked all the files first.
KEVIN AND DOCTOR MEI WEREN'T CLOSE FRIENDS, THEY WERE BOYFRIEND AND GIRLFRIEND
get ur facts right before you speak
pretty sure it wasnt exactly confirmed when the video was released
should get an revisit to this topic since elysian realm has clarified some things like grey serpent following the will of mobius was the one that founded world serpent, kevin is just the leader
Kevin is officially my most favorite character out of the entirety of the pioneers just from the way he's written
See, I didn't a video to confirm Kevin is wrong. I just needed validation of my views. Thank you
His idea for saving the world is basically Gacha
that's literally me lmao
The way he sees it, there isn't one (poor Su, he didn't get to show his friend the fruits of his efforts...)
To summarize, Kold Boi Kevin suffers from mega depression and is powering through it the only way he knows: with Fire Stick
The sky people didn’t beat the honkai, they ran away.
@@Neutral_1zed they did beat it and they conquer any planets which have honkai in it
Pretty good video, I like your quixk analysis.
A question: do you plan on analyzing the Herrscher of Sentience?
Not at this moment.
Jokes on you, I got Flamescion on my 3rd roll full odds
Good 4 u
1. The Herrscher of Reason in the previous era mightve been malicious and thus started the Herrscher vs Humanity war
@@Neutral_1zed "PE failed because they couldn't beat the final Herrscher"
This is wrong, they failed as i already said.
Take a look at C.E, especially APHO timeline. Did the final Herrscher ever appear? No
P.E final Herrscher didn't even actually need to wipe the world as the Will of Honkai order so, the humanity doomed themselves.
Heck even the clown Otto is smarter than her as Kevin called him out as a madlad.
@@aldyzero6676 YES , i would fear monster that can and kill billion of people don't say it like Ho everything its OK its not like 70% of humanity already die because of one of them . YES EVERYBODY have a good reason to fear them the only reason the Ce don't fear herrsher is because they have the easy mode when the enemy come to your side
@@aldyzero6676 no, we dont even know if the final herscherr will appear or not. And no all they lacked was power, yes thry made a mistake killing the 12th but otherwise they did everything right. And dont forget unlike CE most herscherrs had no human emotion or feelings, saving them was impossible in any conceivable way.
en vrais on apprend qu'en réalité c'est "Gray serpent" qui à créer "World Serpent" sous la directive de Mobius, et Kevin fut choisi pour en être le dirigeant.
It's funny when you think about it: the Honkai doesn't need to do much to destroy Humanity. Releases a few beasts here and there and let humanity do the rest. Hell the Will of Honkai even needs humans to be cruel to one and other to make Herrschers to begin with...
Exactly what I've been thinking. WoH doesnt need to do much to destroy humanity. It's the humans' reaction to the honkai that usually destroys it.
Kevin is first compelling antagonist the honkai story has. Both Otto and Kiana's 2nd personality are kinda scuffed in that regard
Another great video, I really love the content you make, I honestly wish more would actually try to cover the characters that we have grown to love (or hate)
That being said, could you please cover Rita and Durandal next? I really like Rita and Dudu is known as the strongest Valk, but I only found limited information on those two, or maybe more about the immortal blades as a whole.
Keep up the good work, already excited for the next video
Yes, those two, especially Durandal , is on my list as characters to make future videos on. I'd say the video would probably come out in the next few weeks as there are still much research left to be done.
@@PotatoAlmanac have u read the durandal visual novel? It's a must read if u plan to make vids on durandal and rita
Also for the newly released ch25ex the VN is kind of a must read too
Thanks for telling me, I'm still finding time to completely read the whole thing.
Kevin Kaslana Is The Herrscher Of himself
I mean, you aren't wrong but, the previous era guys were ways stronger than the current era people and they still lost miserably. At the very least, if he wins and gets to "save" humanity in his way I won't be mad.
But you'd should also remember they know have like 4 herscher allies 4v1 alto so knows nothing about hote whereabouts
@@tpnphoenix3367 It is implied that the HotE far surpasses every other Herrscher by an large stretch, if the MANTISES’s strength are roughly that of an average Herrscher then 13 MANTIS vs HotE + Selene was still not enough to kill her.
Then how will 4 Herrscher + A prototype Selene vs HotE would be able to kill her?
Friendship power? Sounds about right.
@@Neutral_1zed and it was said that this era herscher is vastly diffrent from the herscher of the previous era
@@tpnphoenix3367 yes, they are WEAKER, so it doesnt matter how many herscherrs CE has, they have no hope fighting HoTE head on. Even less than the PE did.
But the difference is that he does not hate the Honkai, but views it as something that must be destroyed.
Im sorry but because otto exist kevin just looks like almight in the situation
Is there any memories of Dr. mei in Elysia realm like other mantis?
No, there are only memories of the mantis that contains Dr. Mei.
Lets be honest here, Project Stigma can just be boiled down to what is basically eugenics.
But i did get Flamescion at first roll does that mean that some people survived the nuclear honkai?
If only I could beat the 1st stage
I reached benares
Will they auto correct that Mobius was the creator of World Serpent?
Flame scion 44 pulls
I once got flamecion on the first roll. Does that mean I'm Kevin?
*laughs in actually getting HoF in my first pull*
Yes
yea about getting HoF on your first roll yea do give a club invite or something
Why it is sad? im not here to crying..
He's an red flag and red is my favorite color
he might be wrong but he's hot so he's forgiven 🤧
When Kevin saves the world bc of a girl lolol, a true simp
tbf, is he really any different from any of our current characters? Himeko for her students, Theresa for Cecillia, Mei for Kiana, Kiana for Mei(though only at first), Bronya for Seele and vice versa
@@darknessknows1235 yeah, because dr. mei had extremely dubious ethics. he overlooked her worse actions because he trusted that she would lead the way for them, and that led to the awakening of the 12th herrscher. The girls fight for selfish reasons (at first ish), but at least they haven't resorted to locking up little girls in cages and sacrificing humans for the sake of defeating the Honkai.
Also Otto Apocalypse
ooooh am I early???
Kiana Already Surpass Kevin
Thats why Kevin Letting Kiana to do what ever she want to Protect Humanity
What? Ahahahahahaha Kiana only has plot armor and that all
No- rather than that, it's because Kevin is the 'Moth that Chases the Flames' while Kiana is the 'Flame that lights up the World'.
Kevin's role is to find the 'light', he is a temporary saviour until the True saviour (Kiana) shows up.
@@shimuza1154 haha yes almost drove the might of an utu into her chest, indeed a moth that chase the flame.
