In Paris Promenade, the left route doesn't actually require a mushroom, no idea why it's textured in a way that gives that impression but it's actually a faster route at the cost of an item set
Every time I start going "huh, this new track kinda looks okay" I'll then see footage of one of the base tracks and realize the disparity between them. I mean they still look pretty fun, but they really do be asset flipping
The anti-gravity could have been added in sky garden at the end, the walls in coconut mall or in choco mountain at the falling rock section. But besides the nitpick of this dlc, it's fun either way. The worst track is still toad circuit.
Toad circuit is pretty bad but I have a weird sense of nostalgia for it, mostly cuz I grew up playing MK7 a lot. I’d say the worst track personally is shroom ridge, just feels incredibly bare-bones and barely does anything to improve upon the original
Another issue I have with this Coconut Mall remake is that the shop shortcut has hardwood floors now, which doesn’t make as much sense as being off-road as carpet, considering there’s hardwood floor in this very track you can drive along just fine.
Paris Promenade: I love that you drive the opposite way of other racers on the third lap. It's going backwards. Gives me Luigi Circuit from Double Dash vibes. Toad Circuit: The most basic track of the bunch with the worst textures. Choco Mountain: I love the new music and the added cave and glider sections. Coconut Mall: This one got nerfed hard with the cars now being stationary and Shy Guys replacing Miis. Tokyo Blur: A pretty basic track but the thwomps on laps 2 and 3 at least add some spice. Shroom Ridge: This is a better version of Toad's Turnpike. I love all the drifting and the new added shortcut is great too. Sky Garden: I love the aesthetic and bouncing on those leaves is surprisingly hard, but the track is way too short. Ninja Hideaway: The best of the bunch. I love all the paths and the aesthetics and music are way too good.
@@berry.1uvr This is just my opinion and yours can differ, but I personally loved the Miis. It was so charming to see your own Mii driving around in their cars, even if it was rage inducing when you got hit by them on the last lap.
Based, EXCEPT, making a big deal out of the non moving cars isn't based... and no one talked about them much until now... coconut mall is still the same otherwise lol
Honestly the tour tracks are probably the best ones. The way they change every lap really makes them unique and they’re all really fun. All the other tracks are pretty good to. Honestly I just wish they would release all the other waves just right now!
Everyone seems to hate Tokyo Tour, which I admit it is a little bland, but I Ike how it's more noticeable that it changes every lap and THE MUSIC. I didn't even notice Paris Prominade changed until the 3rd lap on my first playthrough, but now that I know that I find it more interesting, and don't even get me started on Ninja Hideaway, hands down one of the top tier tracks in the franchise
@@UltimateTS64 I love Tokyo Blur. I see why people don't like it, and even I found it boring the first time. Coconut Mall and Tokyo Blur are a lot better since my first impressions, like I felt with Rainbow Road before.
the mkt version only has one version with moving cars (also they are starting simple and getting harder as they go on just like for the other half of the game (minus old dlc))
Extremely weird fact about the graphics: if you look close enough on the grass you will notice details, implying that these graphics might have taken a similar amount of time to make but what's even more confusing is that they could just have copied the base games grass What
I grew up with Mario Kart Wii, so I still can't believe how dirty they did the car section in Coconut Mall. Aside from that, some tracks that I'd like to see in future waves are Toad's Factory, DK Summit and Rainbow Road
I completely agree with what you said about the graphics. They look so plasticy, oversaturated, overpolished, it reminds me a lot about 3D World’s graphics. Coconut Mall just doesn’t feel like an actual mall. The escalators being replaced by conveyors, besides making it easier to see which goes up or down, kinda takes away from the realism in the sense that it makes it feel less like an actual mall. Also removing the Miis in the background and cars just made it feel barren. The Miis were everywhere cheering you on, which felt like racing through the mall was a big event that attracted people who visited the mall.
I agreed with most of your take on coconut mall, but i hate the teal ramp replacing the metal stairs and the orange floor replacing the off white. Now it feels like a race track with a mall aesthetic rather than a proper mall being converted into a race track, which was why the original was so iconic imo. The changes also made the track way brighter and saturated, which I personally don't like. Its the same reason why Toad's Circuit looks so ugly to me, using too many bright colors in a map makes it look unfinished, like the light engine isnt working properly
The one thing I can say about chco mountain is the railing at the end. I used to try to knock my sister of the level and make her redo the massive U turn. Made it once, the best moment of Mario kart ds
Adding toad circuit was REALLY confusing for me. Not to mention the grass is awful. I mean, really. It suffers the most from the tour style. However, I actually feel coconut mall benefits from the style, making it look more vibrant, which I appreciate.
To be honest with you i like toad circuit i always liked tracks that are not simple but toad circuit is another story the lighting looks good there is a lot stuff to look at and i really like it for some reason
@@andrijastojanovic9324 Nice. Personally, I don't have the same opinion, but I don't see many people that like the circuit tracks, so more power to ya.
While I can understand them wanting the Tour tracks first and whatnot, Toad Circuit being in the middle of the cup was a genuinely terrible decision imo with how utterly basic it is
It's kinda cool since it's the opening track for 7, but it is literally identical which sucks. I can't really see how they'd change it, so why bring it back then if you can't improve on it? It's kinda fun on 200cc.
Shroom Ridge was one of my childhood favorites and I'm sad that they nerfed the ending. The danger of getting so close to the edge and having to dodge the cars is what made it fun and difficult, now it just feels boring because of the barriers. (and ofc the graphics are terrible, it looks like plastic)
@@LittleCart can't wait until spiny cup has the best tracks (which will be just four waluigi's pinball one after the other) so that I can say you're wrong
@@LittleCart Unless we get a miracle and get the rainbow roads from double dash, ds, wii, and 7 as it's tracks. I genuinely believe it would be in the top three cups in mario kart history if that's the case
I totally agree with you about shroom ridge, I went back and replayed DS a while ago and I was kind of shocked by how much I enjoyed the track, because I distinctly remember not really liking it as a kid.
Fun fact: This might be patched at some point but Nintendo actually forgot to mark Ninja Hideaway as a Tour course in game (notice how the little indicator is present on all the other retro tracks but absent in this one)
The DLC is great except just like with real malls, Coconut Mall is going down hill especially after they ripped the best aspects out of it: The Miis and those jerk Miis in the parking lot that can crash into you. This is one of those annoying scenarios of Nintendo having their cake and eating too: they can't uproot and change a stage like that to make it more fair because then they should also implement the ability to turn certain items off like Smash Bros do. Either bring back every bit of goofiness and RNG or implement Smash Bros. style item selection, but for now Coconut Mall is the worst stage to me because of the sentimental value they destroyed along the way because they ignore Miis at every turn now.
Man I've been chomping at the bit waiting for the developers to include Smash Bros-esque item selection. It's so infuriating that they haven't bothered yet after decades. I hate items like the Blooper or Lightning (or what feels like half the items in Mario Kart Wii).
The choco mountain music remix is insanely good and catchy And coconut mall was datamined for tour and it shows that hey made it tour, the graphics, cars and removal of other details like removing the "have a nice day" and "thank you" Edit: Oh and ninja hideaway is my fave tour and 8dx DLC track. Bowser's kingdom is my favourite odyssey kingdom, notice a pattern? I'm just glad it's getting the praise it deserves
This is my favourite analysis of the tracks I’ve seen so far! Covering everything well including the music. Subbed! Looking forward to seeing you do the other 5 waves and that All Moon Ranking sounds amazing.
These tracks are all good fun. Ninja hideaway is now my 2nd favourite course in the game and the Tour tracks are very fun. The only thing is the visuals are pretty lazy, pretty much entirely ripped from tour. Also Coconut Mall was destroyed
@@infinitygamez2761 in Yoshis Valley there is really only one or 2 (if you prefer less risk at the cost of more time) viable routes to get the fastest trial. However with some adaptations it can actually be a great battle course. When talking of a race, Ninja Runaway seems to be far superior (I haven't been able to play it yet)
@@LosBROSPQR first of all, you called it the wrong name. Second of all, that can’t stop Yoshi Valley from having more alternate routes than ninja hideaway.
@@infinitygamez2761 I was referring to your comment that you took different routes in Yoshis Valley, even then I think that probably Ninja Hideaway might be more flexible.
Im happy to see somebody actually point out the good in the new coconut mall instead of bashing the whole track just because the moving mii cars and escalators were changed. I definitely think the wii and 3ds version were better though
Also because it looks like it was made in LittleBigPlanet Karting for free by one person & some of the changes make it not look like a mall but they did remove the miis so it's not all bad. Also, some of the aesthetic changes are better in concept & are just held back by laziness/cheapness in the graphics department.
The Cars in Coconut Mall move now! Sorta! They move by driving in circles which hit characters as they drive near the cars. It’s not the exact original, but it’s still a good addition.
People are acting like the graphics just downgrade the dlc and shames Mk8 as a whole, I do agree it was a little lazy of Nintendo... but these races for the most part are really fun especially Ninjas Hideout, and the music is goated as always!! I overall enjoyed the DLC a lot
it takes more effort to port assets from tour than from 8, theres also new assets and it has way more detail modeled into the tracks rather than just light mapping everything
@@harrybest2041 yeah but theyre higher quality people just complain about the simplistic art style that they wouldnt complain about it it was a new mario kart game for 2x the price with the same tracks
I'm gonna be honest, after having played it a lot more, Toad Circuit has become one of favorite tracks in the game. It has an amazing soundtrack and it feels so nice to drift on. I don't even care that the textures are very low quality and that it's a very short track with not much going on, I love racing on it, it feels so great to drift on!
I'm a bit of a Mario Kart Wii nerd, and I absolutely love Coconut Mall, but when I saw the new Coconut Mall, it really made me sad. They ruined so many things from this track, the escalators aren't even unique anymore, no item boxes on the fountains (so now there is practically no reason to jump above them), they shouldn't have added the glide ramp, the whole point of that ramp was so you could be high in the air and make you feel cool (if you've played the DLC, you'll know that that ramp literally almost dunks you down and barely gives you any air), the cars at the end don't have Miis + they don't even move. Really poorly executed.
Agreed, also mk Wii is a better game than deluxe, (at least practically speaking) All the criticisms you mentioned about the remake of coconut mall are just examples of the down trend the devs have had with course making. For all the positive experiences I’ve had with the game, when ever I play deluxe I’m always disappointed that the tracks could be way better and not as beginner friendly.
@@blakehammer9559 I completely agree. The only thing about this game where you need "skill" is 200cc, that's it. Whereas MKWii, there are so many shortcuts, ultra-shortcuts that take months of practice, and if you play CTGP, you'll know that you also need skill to get as top spot in online.
One super underrated aspect of Shroom Ridge is how many opps you have to get super ultra or whatever its called (purple sparks) - pretty sure you can do it it twice easily if not three times on each lap
I’m surprised there is not a track made of gold representing Mario Kart Tour. A track with paper bills flying everywhere instead of confetti, as that is what Mario Kart Tour was about. I am surprised they included tracks from a very recent and by recent, slightly more than 2 years old, game.
After watching the for the 20th time i decided to do the math and figured out ther are 17944 different ways to take ninja hideway as a course so with all 3 laps combined
One additional gripe i have with Coconut Mall is the walls on the upward turns in the mall section itself not being anti-gravity. The way the floor curves up into the wall definitely makes it look like you should be able to drive on the walls with anti-grav, but no you just slam into the wall. It would've made the track flow much better, especially in 200cc since a lot of the time you're tricking off of things or using a boost panel when going into those sections, so you have to either brake or avoid using the elements of the stage entirely to avoid hitting the walls
To be honest, on Coconut Mall, I don't miss the Miis, and I don't miss the moving cars... BUT! I do miss how there's no Boost Panels at the end! They still easily could've had the high risk high reward by putting the panels close to the cars, but having literally nothing at the end just makes it feel bland. Though on a positive note, I also really like how shiny the floor is on Coconut Mall. It makes it feel like it was recently waxed or cleaned.
With Ninja hideaway, everybody has there own route they prefer. I personally go through the knife ceiling, go bottom after the gliding segment, and take the top platform.
I agree that coconut mall is a pretty weak recreation. It’s still coconut mall, and I’m very happy it’s here, and I think it would be empty without it. But, I do hate the cars not moving… it’s pretty sadge.
Almost a year after these tracks have been released, and Choco Mountain still looks very good The general upgrade of the graphics over the waves has made some look worse, but Choco Mountain somehow fits the style Is it just me?
Instead of Toad Circuit they shoulda brought Toad Factory from Wii. Very unique track, and it already had a banger OST so imagine what the 8 team would do with it. On another note, I'm guessing the escalators on Coconut mall were made easier to see for accessibility reasons, probably for people harder of vision.
Justice for toad circuit! Nailing lines on this track is so satisfying, especially in 200cc. It's also very refreshing to have a basic track without many gimmics where racing well is key to success. Finally the theme is an absolute bop. Especially that electric guitar that kicks in near the end
As someone who has played a lot of MK7, the escalators in Coconut Mall we’re also highlighted with arrows on the 3DS, not sure what can be done with this information, but it’s definitely much brighter in MK8D.
Hot take: I think the Sky Garden remake is pretty good. The music alone puts the track at an acceptable level for me, and the track layout isn’t as unrecognizable as you say. The shortcuts and hops are still there (except for one; the one where it’s either the boost ramp or the mushroom over the clouds). They did clip out one bend halfway thru and the lack of antigravity is a missed opportunity. But personally, I don’t think it’s that bad a track.
I think Ninja Hideaway could be a small taste of what's to come in MK9. All the tracks will have many alternate routes, to the point of it feeling like an open-world racing game. At least thats my prediction
I think my ranking would be: 8 - Toad Circuit: I always liked that track, but the grass doesn’t really look like grass anymore. It’s pretty basic. 7 - Choco Mountain: I liked this one on N64 and on DS, and it still looks nice here. But I’m not a fan of the remix. 6 - Ninja Hideaway: This one has a unique feel to it, but I don’t really like the music and some turns are unforgiving. 5 - Coconut Mall: A favorite of mine on Wii. I don’t really mind the changes they made, but I wish those palm trees looked less like plastic. 4 - Paris Promenade: This one looks beautiful and I love how the final lap is different. 3 - Tokyo Blur: Amazing track as well. All 3 laps are different this time. 2 - Shroom Ridge: The grass still doesn’t look like grass, but everything else is perfect. It’s like Toad’s Turnpike, but better. The remix is amazing. 1 - Sky Garden: My favorite. Great remix, great colors, great layout. Reminds me of Cloudtop Cruise, which I also love.
I absolutely agree with your ninja hideaway opinion. On paper its a great track but when you actually play it you will just always be anxious on some turns where its way too easy to fall off
As someone whose first MK game was Super Circuit, I'm super happy they brought Sky Garden back with a revamped look and music. I just wish the track was longer like the original and DS version, I can hardly enjoy the new music because the track seems so short
It’s so interesting seeing the reactions to the tour tracks when the first wave released when the track changing throughout the race was a cool new concept.
I think it’s disappointing most of them are taken straight from Tour. It feels low effort, and I imagine that’s why most of these were chosen, why there’s a lack of anti-gravity, and why the graphics generally are lacking.
The fact that that you brought up how they made it obvious which escalator to take in Coconut Mall is interesting because that’s not far from how it is in real areas where you find escalators because with such escalators you can just use your senses of touch and site to easily figure out which one to take. Heck, in some instances, the correct way is also indicated with a green light along with a red light on the one going the opposite direction.
As someone who hadn't played MK8DX in a long while, I actually greatly appreciate an easy even if slightly bland track like Toad Circuit making it in as an early DLC track. It does its job well as a little warm-up exercise to help me get back into the game. It just would've been a lot better at that purpose if it they made it the first track of the first DLC cup, but I suppose they wanted to go with something that'd give a nicer first impression.
They should have replaced Sky Garden with Airship Fortress. And If that weren’t enough,Data Miners have discovered that there are no more Mario kart DS tracks coming to Mario kart 8.Which means We sadly have to say goodbye to Airship fortress and many other DS tracks
I think the main reason Ninja Hideaway is so good is because it has a similar design philosophy to Crash Team Racing's tracks. Instead of driving on a racetrack on the environment, you're driving through the environment itself.
Yeah. Nothing in this wave really needed it, but there are some tracks in Tour that basically feel like they have sections made for anti-gravity, like the bridge in Vancouver Velocity and the mid-to-ending section of Merry Mountain. Even some retros like Waluigi Pinball, Rock Rock Mountain, and Wario Shipyard that have good chances of making it in could have it added. In this wave, though, only lap 3 of Tokyo Blur and the ending of Sky Garden could've really taken advantage of it
Maybe this is cause I’m huge on the competitive side of Wii, but I can’t help but say that Coconut Mall is terrible here. It’s just a neutered version of Wii. It doesn’t help that 8’s mechanics are worse overall too.
My overall stance is: these tracks were underwhelming, and I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the dlc was like that (I refuse to accept that things will improve until I actually see it happen). Remixes are good. While I won't really complain with what we got, I will unhesitantly say I would've preferred quality over quantity. Even ignoring the characters and kart stuff added, I found 8s 2 DLC waves more exciting. I loved Dragon Dirftway and Ribbon Road so much man.
the only DLC tracks I didn’t care for were Ice Ice Outpost and Wild Woods, all the others were hype. i love this new wave, too, but… there’s not nearly as much excitement for them. i don’t think the graphics are ugly, but it does look out of place like some fan modded them into the game.
Underwhelming? Y’all complain about the worst things. Mario Kart 8 will continue to be the bestselling game on switch. You guys are extremely out of touch with the buying public.
I don’t play a lot of nintendo games but my younger siblings do and started getting bored of mariokart so i got them the pass so they can play on the new ones. I was so happy to see coconut mall even if it has some disappointing changes, the music automatically brought me back to being 7 years old
Paris Promenade: Simple, almost soothing track, actually kinda gives Paris vibes, love how the track changes lap 3, music's alright, shortcuts are decent, overall pretty solid. 7.5/10 Toad Circuit: I like the new textures, but the track plays the same and doesn't really give anything new. It's just a slightly better version of the 3DS track. 4.5/10 Choco Mountain: The music is insanely catchy, and I really love the cave part. The gliding was in a good spot too. But the falling rocks towards the end are completely predictable now, so a bit of a downgrade there, but overall pretty good. 6.5/10 Coconut Mall: Still a good track, but just about everything except visuals got a HUGE downgrade. Doesn't feel like Coconut Mall nearly as much now. 7/10 Tokyo Blur: I never really paid much attention to it as a Tour track but I was in love with it by lap 3. I had no idea what to expect for track changes each lap. Looks nice and music's good. 9/10 Shroom Ridge: Better than I expected. Feels like in did in MKDS and has some new and better changes as well. 8/10 Sky Garden: The clouds, airships, etc. really make it feel like a sky-based track. Music's catchy, shortcuts decided not to show up, short 'n' simple. 7/10 Ninja Hideaway: EEAAAAAAASSSSSSSIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYY the best track of Wave 1. Getting huge Shogun Studios-Sammer's Kingdom vibes with this. Wouldn't change a thing. 11/10
I think that coconut mall is worse too because of Mario Kart 8 mechanics. In Wii I believe on those 2 curved sections you could trick or at least ride along the side, with MK8 being so fast and treating the part you could ride on before like a wall and hitting that wall making you lose tons of speed it makes me always overshoot especially in 200cc. I'm surprised in a game that focuses on zero gravity it won't let you do anything cool without it.
Unfortunately because of this I think most of the wii tracks were eventually going to get are not going to be as good, like, imagine wii rainbow road without the half pipe trick system in wii. That doesn't sound fun.
Hot take: i think having the arrows on the escalators is still chaotic because everyone will either go for the green and risk getting bumped or even easily hit with an item, or realize the danger of the green and go for the red, but risk losing speed. Makes you think, y'know?
I feel like they MUST improve the graphics for the other 5 packs, after all of this negative feedback about the graphics, they can't just do to again five more times.
I mean its 48 tracks for 25€ which is a good deal considering we are talking about nintendo. For 48 completely retextured tracks they would charge 60€ or more lol
I was gonna comment about how I find Tokyo Blur to be improved a lot more on 200cc than most other tracks but the point that there's too many empty stretches in it kinda just explains to me why, you get zoom past all the boring parts and that just ends up making it a lot more satisfying to play on
I swear I'm the only person in the world who likes Mario Kart 7. It's tracks and music are awesome (I especially love the amount of shading they added) and I'm especially disappointed how much Mario Kart 8 steals from it, and I guarantee if they retroed more 7 tracks people would see what I mean.
i like that they include a few easy/intro courses to the dlc :) it makes the new content accessible for more people. i do wish they were a bit more remastered tho, coconut wall wii looked SOOO much better
I think if Tokyo Blur was in the Golden Dash cup, Toad Circuit would feel less out of place coming after it. Paris Promenade is literally a harder track than Tokyo Blur
I guess I should give my own thoughts for each of the tracks: Paris Promenade: I really like this track. It looks so pretty, the music is very good (though not something I'll go out of my way to listen to on it's own), and the gimmick is really neat and actually caught me off guard. Design is a bit simple, and there aren't a lot of obstacles. Overall, a very solid track. 8/10 Toad Circuit: The only track in the DLC so far that I think looks bad. It seems like for the other tracks, they at the very least put some amount of effort to the graphics, whereas for this track, they took the Tour version, upscaled the textures, and just slapped it onto 8 Deluxe. The design is a bit too simple for me, but given the context, does make sense. The music is great though. Overall, it could've been worse. 6/10 Choco Mountain: The track with the biggest glow up. I loved how it looked in Tour and I'm so glad they brought it over to 8 Deluxe. The music is really good, and the first one so far that I'm actually willing to listen to it on UA-cam. I don't have much more to say. 9/10 Coconut Mall: While it does have some weird design choices (the escalators and parking lot, for example), it's still a blast to play on. The music is still a banger, as always, and it actually doesn't look bland for once (this may or may not be an unpopular opinion). Definitely still amazing. 9/10 Tokyo Blur: The textbook definition of, "It's fine," IMO. Design is fine. Music is fine. Graphics are fine. Gimmick is neat, but not as cool as Paris Promenade. It's just fine overall. 7/10 Shroom Ridge: For being a forgettable track, it seems like Nintendo doesn't want you to forget it this time. Design is great, and way better than Toad's Turnpike IMO (there, I said it). Graphics are neat. The music: *chef's kiss.* I really like it. 9/10 Sky Garden: What did Nintendo do to this track??? Design aside, I really like the music and the graphics are pretty solid. Wish they incorporated anti-gravity in the ending section. 7/10 Ninja Hideaway: What can I say about this track that hasn't been said. The design is amazing, the graphics are amazing, the music is amazing, everything about this track is amazing. 10/10 Overall, a solid start to the Booster Course Pass, if a tad underwhelming. I'm genuinely interested in what they're going to include in future waves.
Edit: apparently you don’t need a mushroom for the Paris shortcut thing I’m just dumb, doesn’t really change any opinions on the track so we good

Honestly the tour tracks are probably the best ones. The way they change every lap really makes them unique and they’re all really fun. All the other tracks are pretty good to. Honestly I just wish they would release all the other waves just right now!
While I agree that it would be fun, the wait would be less exciting
Everyone seems to hate Tokyo Tour, which I admit it is a little bland, but I Ike how it's more noticeable that it changes every lap and THE MUSIC. I didn't even notice Paris Prominade changed until the 3rd lap on my first playthrough, but now that I know that I find it more interesting, and don't even get me started on Ninja Hideaway, hands down one of the top tier tracks in the franchise

Extremely weird fact about the graphics: if you look close enough on the grass you will notice details, implying that these graphics might have taken a similar amount of time to make but what's even more confusing is that they could just have copied the base games grass

Maple treeway?
Mario Kart tour has DK summit and Maple treeway, so there's a big chance it will be included in this dlc as well.
Same
I don't want to see them ruined, as they inevitably will be.
3d world graphics are pretty good.
Honestly in this case the conveyors are great for legibility. I'd rather lose a tiny teeny bit of realism for functionality :)
@@Yolwoocle That's true.

Well they did end up adding an item toggle
The choco mountain music remix is insanely good and catchy
And coconut mall was datamined for tour and it shows that hey made it tour, the graphics, cars and removal of other details like removing the "have a nice day" and "thank you"

4:29 I laughed way harder than I should of, thats happened to me way to many times at glider ramps in both 7 and 8
If you thought DS Mario Circuit was more forgettable, then why did Nintendo pick it for Wave 4?

There is around 11-12 different routes in ninja hideaway. Love it
After watching the for the 20th time i decided to do the math and figured out ther are 17944 different ways to take ninja hideway as a course so with all 3 laps combined
One additional gripe i have with Coconut Mall is the walls on the upward turns in the mall section itself not being anti-gravity. The way the floor curves up into the wall definitely makes it look like you should be able to drive on the walls with anti-grav, but no you just slam into the wall. It would've made the track flow much better, especially in 200cc since a lot of the time you're tricking off of things or using a boost panel when going into those sections, so you have to either brake or avoid using the elements of the stage entirely to avoid hitting the walls
damn, that comment from Oddysey Central about DS Mario Circuit didn't age that well, huh? Timestamp: 13:01

The left route in front of the Effiel Tower isn't a shortcut, neither does it require a Dash Mushroom..

Im so glad im not the only one who loved shroom ridge on the ds
Justice for toad circuit! Nailing lines on this track is so satisfying, especially in 200cc. It's also very refreshing to have a basic track without many gimmics where racing well is key to success. Finally the theme is an absolute bop. Especially that electric guitar that kicks in near the end
MK8D Coconut Mall removed most of the arches, and it didn't tell me "have a nice day" before the glider section :(
As someone who has played a lot of MK7, the escalators in Coconut Mall we’re also highlighted with arrows on the 3DS, not sure what can be done with this information, but it’s definitely much brighter in MK8D.
Yes, it's really good. Just too short.
Coconut Mall on the other hand... nay.
@@qwui1784 Coconut Mall was certainly a downgrade. That said, I wonder if they changed the end because of 200cc.

I think Ninja Hideaway could be a small taste of what's to come in MK9. All the tracks will have many alternate routes, to the point of it feeling like an open-world racing game. At least thats my prediction

The best track with cars that needs to be remade is the one from wii
Well about DS Mario Circuit...
Coconut mall is a HUGE downgrade for me. A lot of it is MarioKart Wii nostalgia, but the pastels in the color scheme annoy me

I was gonna comment about how I find Tokyo Blur to be improved a lot more on 200cc than most other tracks but the point that there's too many empty stretches in it kinda just explains to me why, you get zoom past all the boring parts and that just ends up making it a lot more satisfying to play on

Design is a bit simple, and there aren't a lot of obstacles. Overall, a very solid track. 8/10
Toad Circuit: The only track in the DLC so far that I think looks bad. 6/10
Choco Mountain: The track with the biggest glow up. I loved how it looked in Tour and I'm so glad they brought it over to 8 Deluxe. The music is really good, and the first one so far that I'm actually willing to listen to it on UA-cam. I don't have much more to say. 9/10
Coconut Mall: While it does have some weird design choices (the escalators and parking lot, for example), it's still a blast to play on. The music is still a banger, as always, and it actually doesn't look bland for once (this may or may not be an unpopular opinion). Definitely still amazing. 9/10
Tokyo Blur: The textbook definition of, "It's fine," IMO. Design is fine. Music is fine. Graphics are fine. Gimmick is neat, but not as cool as Paris Promenade. It's just fine overall. 7/10
Shroom Ridge: For being a forgettable track, it seems like Nintendo doesn't want you to forget it this time. Design is great, and way better than Toad's Turnpike IMO (there, I said it). Graphics are neat. The music: *chef's kiss.* I really like it. 9/10
Sky Garden: What did Nintendo do to this track??? Design aside, I really like the music and the graphics are pretty solid. Wish they incorporated anti-gravity in the ending section. 7/10
Ninja Hideaway: What can I say about this track that hasn't been said. The design is amazing, the graphics are amazing, the music is amazing, everything about this track is amazing. 10/10
Overall, a solid start to the Booster Course Pass, if a tad underwhelming. I'm genuinely interested in what they're going to include in future waves.
