One trick I have learned with using tape - after putting tape on, paint the edges with the original base color and then apply the second color on top of that. That keeps your paint from seeping and keeps sharp edges. I love this little tissue box!

The box looks absolutely stunning, I think the stripes really match the birds! Gotta love those happy little accidents like the one you had with the black wax. It really did soften it, I thought it was a little too much right after you applied the black, ended up looking perfect

As always, your project is so beautiful! I love your work. I use "painter's tape" - here in the USA it's made by Scotch Brand. It is used for art projects, crafting and actually painting walls in the home. One thing I learned the hard way a long time ago is that you have to remove the tape before the paint dries, otherwise you may still get some bleed through. I don't know what that is called in the UK but here, it's called "blue painter's tape." Hope that helps. :-D

I would personally put clear wax on first then black wax that way there are no smudges also if too much black/brown/ white wax is applied it can easily be removed.
I have found 'Frog Tape' very good for crisp lines, there are various tackiness (comes in green for bare wood, orange which is less tacky I've found it ok on painted surfaces and blue frog tape) depending if its to stuck down on unpainted or painted wood. I'd still paint 1st in the colour the frog tape is to be stuck on then the desired colour of ones design.
N.B 'Frog Tape' can be purchased at:- The Range, B&Q and I'm sure at other DIY stores in the UK.

Box is beautiful, love the stripes and the chopped up ball of clay for corners, cute! Masking tape, I stick it to my clothes so I can use my nail to give the edges a good press down or perhaps the paint is too wet? but all in all it's lovely 🌸💖

Another tip for not bleeding is to paint clear top coat between the tapes and then paint the new color. It won't bleed!

Gator tape for paint masking works like a charm
regular painters tape works well, also someone suggested first paint where you are taping with the color that is already there before you paint a new color. TFS.. Looks great , yes I like it with stripes.

The green 'frog tape' is fantastic!! I never get bleed through. You can get cheaper versions that are ok.
I usually use first the transparent wax before using the black or antique one….it makes it easier and more “forgiven “ in case you get more excited with the dark ones

Cccccan I suggest you use a dry stencil brush. Dab your brush into the paint very lightly, barely getting any paint on the brush. Using a light tapping motion apply the paint, partially over your masking tape working your

To prevent the paint to seep under try to first paint a layer of the bottom color, in your cace the lighter gray and then the darker. The first layer seals the tape. That’s how you paint walls at least...
The paper is beautiful!! This project is stunning. What mould would you recommend for a beginner, for someone not sure if this craft is something they will stay with and don't want to invest a lot of money. Love the music in this video. Really enjoyed this tutorial. TFS.
Thank you! I would recommend sugar crafting moulds, so the ones for cake makers, that's what I started with, there are loads of different ones out there, I usually buy those on ebay.co.uk they tend to be quite cheap and they're enough to get a good understanding if you like this type of craft or not :)

Love it! 😍 I am not sure whether you would have frogtape in the UK but it’s much better than regular masking tape and leaves no color bleeding. Here is the link: www.amazon.com/FrogTape-1358463-Multi-Surface-Painting-Inches/dp/B002Z8HB2A Also it might help to paint one coat with the original color first over the masking tape then go over it with the darker color. This was if the color bleeds on the masking tape you still get clean edge of the original color. I hope it helps. And thank you so much for sharing you talents with us 🥰

Use a painters tape, instead of masking tape. Painters tape doesn't let paint go under. In the U.S. it's color blue
