He used to play the corner bars doing Beatles covers in the 90’s. Anyway….

1974. Oh do I remember that summer. It wasn't long after "Get Your Wings" was released and we listened to it over and over and over and over. Then in April of 75 Toys in the Attic was released. It hit the stores by the weekend so she bought for a party we had. We played it cover to cover the entire night. Those were the days...
After the British Invasion the American record companies were hungry for bands they could package and promote to give to the consumers. Aerosmith is a talented group and deserved to get a record contract anyway but their image was like a cross between The Rolling Stones and Queen. England had Elton John the US had Billy Joel. England had a huge lead on metal until Van Halen. I’m not going to include hair metal, glam metal and speed metal. Kiss was definitely doing something unique. It’s so cool to see these performances after all this time! I need to look up Don Kirshner’s Rock Concerts and King Biscuit Flower Hour. Time Flies By...Thanks 🙏Midnight Special for resurrecting these (restored) archived TV shows!!
Another great AMERICAN legendary band ❤we can be proud of ❤🎉
The early early Aerosmith, thank you
I saw Aerosmith in the 70s in Atlanta Georgia at the Omni it was my first concert I got all the way up to the front I was pressed up against the fence and I cannot tell you the feeling I got when Steven Tyler looked down into my eyes I was hooked from that night on anytime I went to a concert I had to have front row so the performer could look me in the eye there’s nothing like it
Just like when a pretty woman looks and a guy and smiles. Most numbskulls think the gal must really like 'em... just because "she's smilin' at me!" There's nothing like it... and you just named the female equivalent! no shade either way... just the way it is.
Real sets. Real performances. Real music. Much love, everyone.
Lol let me guess the rest: "They don't make music like this anymore, darned kids with their button pushing and fancy lights, nobody makes real music anymore!" That about right?
@@nomicons Yes, isn't it 100% true though? Music today is total crap
This is such a document. They are just a bunch of young guys still struggling with themselves in order to find their own inner voice but they are already amazingly brilliant at once. I love it!!
My all time favorite song ever!! ❣
I remember staying up late to watch the Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack! I got to expand my musical horizons by seeing more than just ONE GENRE of music and ALL OF THEM were THE BOMB as we used to say!❤❤❤
Thanks...It would have been great to post Prince's performance due to the fact it's "Prince Day" today (he would have turned 65).
One of the best bands and song to exist. Aerosmith will never be forgotten
America’s greatest rock and roll band! Love you Aerosmith ^^(A)^^
Some feedback issues, but this is as good as it gets. He no longer has the voice to pull off this level of magic. It's well done.
The Midnight Special was way better than Top Of The Pops simply for the fact the MS let bands play live in front of the audience/camera. Right on, Aerosmith!
I saw Aerosmith in 1976, and I had taken my beautiful girlfriend I had at the time. She ended up going back stage with a few other beautiful chicks, and that was the last time I ever seen her. I have no idea where she went, or where she is to this day.
That's such a cool story. Rock n roll haha
Bummer kerbygator...hopefully you found another GF to rock out with!
Liar
Sorry bro' Im sure she's somewhere out there, but my guess is she ended up in the groupie train. After that probably bounced around witht the band(s) until she was used up or they got fresh recruits. The debauchery of those days was both greek and tragic for "beautiful" women as their self worth was mostly tied up in their looks and most of em just wanted to say they got with whomever back then. And Smith was at the top of that shit pile.
She probably had Aerosmith’s baby
Steven Tyler was YOUNG once??? Wow! Amazing! And totally live!! What a fantastic band, and what a look! Thanks so much for posting this!
Rock on!
Hard to believe they’re on last tour. Tyler is 75. Damn. That makes me old too!
@@326vince my wife worked in a New Hampshire hospital for ten years, and Steven’s father was in the hospital for some treatment. His (and Steven’s) last name is Tallarico. The family owns car dealerships in New Hampshire. Anyway, Steven was visiting his father, and he didn’t have his makeup on or any of his usual “rock attire”, and he was eating in the commissary. My wife said he looked like a little old lady, and it was hard to tell he was THE Steven Tyler. This was sometime between 2004-2009. Oh, one of the ladies she worked with was the wife of Rod Price of Foghat. Another New Hampshire classic rock legend was Brad Delp, singer of Boston. He used to play the corner bars doing Beatles covers in the 90’s. Anyway….
That was a great song
From. Back In the day
Still is a bad ass song
Badder than badass!!
I remember watching this like it was yesterday !!! Thank you for posting !!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Can you guys please upload the johnny winter clips
I was watching the show that night, it was the first time I was introduced to Aerosmith. My music world changed forevermore after seeing them sing Dream On and Train Kept a Rolling on this show! 🤘🏻♥️✨🎤🎶
The record version was their best. In later years they performed this song in concerts with Steven playing it on piano.
and with an orchestra. my personal favorite version
This is historic footage! They were just a few months away from recording their third album, "Toys in the Attic"!
Thanks midnight special for alll the great posts
Wow! I’m a huge Terry Kath fan going back to the 70s. I’ve heard and seen as much of he and the bands work as anyone I think but his guitar contribution in 25 or 6 to 4 on that particular night was a master class. the late great Terry Kath was truly a man possessed on that night and I’m so very happy it was memorialized for us to marvel at all these years later.
great classic rock! bring back the 70s and 80s! (and some 90s)
The Midnight Special, really hit on all cylinders tonight when they had Aerosmith on. Steven Tyler his vocals are beyond words. Their music is simply bad ass. Steven Tyler is definitely sexy in this video. This takes me back to my teenage years, when life was good with amazing music 🎶 🎵 and good friends and good times and memories.
Yeah. Steven was a cutie here.
wow now this is a classic! Early Aerosmith and listen to Stephen hit those high notes!
Midnight Special is awesome!!!
I was 3-4 months old when they was filmed.. Aerosmith has always been one of my favorite bands of all time. To think these guys are still rocking all these years later is so crazy..
I saw them live about a year after this was recorded. It was awesome
Love this! So many great performances on TMS back then. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!!
Song birds are attracted to this song, I have 4 of them add in their enhancements to this song ...
There was nothing as badass as the 1970s Aerosmith. Every metal band of the 80s borrowed from them.
They really weren’t metal, just a great hard rock band like their true followers Guns N’ Roses
@@Scott_Silverhe never said they were metal. He just said metal bands borrowed from them. Which is absolutely true
@@Scott_Silver Yeah, to some degree, G N'R was Aerosmith 2.0
@@207fishme8 Yeah definitely agree with that
I am 65 now. I have been listening to much good music during my life this far. I would easily change the 70 for the 50's . I was just a baby in the 50's.❤
They dont make em like this anymore...🤘...love from kentucky ❤
I was 14 years old during this performance.
One of my favorite bands.
I love all of his. I started listening in 73
I have commented before, best American rock band ever ❤😊, my grandchildren know who Aerosmith is 😊
The band sounds great. Tyler has a great high pitched rock voice and when he goes extremely high at the very end with his "Dream On", that is very impressive.
Here's another classic that Elvis could've loved and Rocked out in his living room.
Think another band will be like this? Dream On.
This my jam🔥💞! Brings back good memories of when we'd go skating.... the Southside of the Chi back in the day 🔥
AEROSMITH RULED THE 70's and they ROCKED our High School World! 🎶🎸🍺
Uhm....yeah they rocked, but not ruled...Boston did
@@azdesertrats729 Judas Priest and Black Sabbath
Zeppelin and Queen and Sabbath.
But yeah, they were good too!
Glad i grew up at a time when all these songs first came out run around with my hippy hair and a green army jacket miss them days
Still have my green army jacket. Has my last name on it since dad served. But my hair is much shorter now!
Still have mine too, bought at a thrift store in Van Nuys in 71. Still have all my hair, gray and a bit of thinning now, but I never compromised and everything worked out just fine.
Aerosmith 2024 .. Still Touring.. Still going Strong !!!!Damn Right..Mr Dilly Approved... Aerosmith... Forever !!!👍🎸😎❤️
We had the best music. Today's generation has been robbed.
Greatest lyric ever.
“You got to lose to know how to win” 🎶❤
Joe Perry was like the Jimmy Page of this band.
CLASSIC. I've loved this song since it came out; imo it's the (if not one of the) greatest rock songs of all time.
Probably the greatest live song in the history of rock and roll.
Biscuit was radio but hopefully someone made a video of something they recorded.
I got freaking chills bro... Awesome
I realised just now how much the opening chords of this and Stairway to Heaven sound so alike
