I've somewhat given up the ghost. During my pregnancy back in 2017-18, my hair grew the best until late November I stupidly relaxed it. Since then, it's been stagnant with barely new growth. But the edges are even worst, it's almost as if I have alopecia, lol. For over 1 year I've been wearing wigs and no great improvement so really don't know what else to go. Except I will mix the peppermint and coconut oils, use on edges then see what will happen.
      Thanks always for your tips.

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 “For God so loved the World that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 That’s how much he loves us that he sacrificed his own Son so that we wouldn’t have to be in Jesus spot so that we wouldn’t have to suffer.💕💕❤️

4.dont manipulate your hair after coming from salon or from whoever did u braids, do not touch or style it,leave it for 2 days to watever days until it feels loose and not painful.

I’m prone to iron deficiency anemia and because of my skin’s very high melanin content, I struggle with vitD levels in this British weather. THIS IS SO HELPFUL😀😀I'm genuinely so happy to have come across this video because I've been so confused and worried as to why my edges are thinning. Since we're still under lockdown in South Africa. I've just always have had my hair in twists and I've always made sure that they weren't tight. It has crossed my mind that my bonnet could be the reason but since it's made from saturn, I really didn't think it would inflict damage to my edges. But now that someone has confirmed it... I'm definately getting myself a silk scaf...... And I'm definately trying out the rest of your suggestions....

Some areas naturally grow slower than others, but just make sure you’re washing, deep conditioning and moisturising your hair regularly. Scalp massages are good too. Also, your diet plays a big role, so eat well and drink lots of water.

My hair has no problem growing,so I went natural and wanted to grow first 3 years,so I do the LOC method.i wore bonnets and wig caps and a protective style but now all the my edges, are suffering, thinning and getting worse.i kept trying to figure out what was causing this, and the only thing I could think of was the hair bonnet.now I'm more convinced.now my question is,are my edges damaged for good,or is there still hope?

    • @HealthyAfroHair

Do you know if it’s a form of alopecia? Have you damaged your scalp in anyway? I’d definitely recommend seeing a trichologist to get some professional advice. They may be able to provide you with something that could help.

With time I noticed my edges began to recede and I relaxed my hair, but it got only worse. I’m considering doing the big chop to start all over, or what do you advice? Would it improve if I do a big chop?

Jolie, scrutinize your shampoo, could be too stripping. I use neutrogena antiresidue shampoo and only wash my hair every 4 weeks. I do not use oils because they dry my hair out. I keep my hair in twists and for each twist, I use rosewater, shea butter and blue magic hair grease, massage them in from root to tip. I put nothing on my scalp except rosewater and maybe aloe vera gel. Stay ahead of the dryness. Wearing hair in twists preserves moisture. I also sleep on a satin pillowcase. Bonnets and scarves make me hot and sweaty and causes my scalp to smell. I hope this helps. Oh, I've perfected my grid for my twists. I don't take them down to wash. After a wash, I retwist every twist individually, making sure to massage blue magic into the strand to keep hair pliable and retwist. I also don't start the twist right at the scalp.
