Hello Jon, very good video, it looks like a good model in two aspects, both visually and in terms of assembly, I don't have it, I had only seen its box and the possibility of buying it, it is not expensive, it is affordable, which makes it a good project, let's wait for that video of the assembly, the liveries used in Korea and later, with high visibility, seem very attractive to me on jet airplanes, they are one of my favorites, perhaps because of the memory of having assembled my first kit in my childhood, it was a matchbox, but I don't remember its model very well, I know it had the high visibility US Navy decals, from there I was hooked on the hobby until I had the resources to be able to build others, thank you for your time and dedication in the videos, greetings
Thanks, Francisco! The P-80/F-80 has been a long-time favorite of mine as well, since I built one as a kid. I don't remember the exact kit I built, though. This one should turn out well. Cheers!
Good morning… starting my day 6:40 am nice way to wake up, A REVIEW… I appreciate the early AMERICAN JET AIRCRAFT… Can’t remember if you did a review of a F9F Panther kit??? This looks like a nice model… Like the Decals… Yes the Monogram issue is the only one I know… I would buy and build this model 👍👍👍👍👍 I’ve been buy aftermarket decals for some upcoming builds… This kit review will go on my look for list… ENJOYED IT…….. Good Evening. It looks nice. I have the HB's P-80A version in the pile. Great, colourful paint schemes. Nicely priced kits too (37AUD/25USD for mine). HobbyBoss do a few less common subjects. I have their Romanian IAR-80. Looking forward to seeing the final result Cheers Matt🦘🦘🦘
Good to see a Jet kit review from you Jon. Excellent review by the way. I’ve never built a F-80 in 1/48 she seems a pretty straightforward build from Hobby Boss. The yellow dials on the cockpit decal might be an attempt at a “lighted” look….or just a screw up in printing. Thanks!
Thank you! I'm still undecided on the yellow dials, but you may be correct with either of your ideas here. The rest of the kit looks pretty nice. Cheers!
Excellent video, as always! Thanks for including the year the kit was produced. I remember the Monogram kit back in the days. This one from Hobby Boss should be much better. I look forward to your finished kit.
I should have known but didn't this bird flew in WW2 , it looks really odd with iron bombs. Amazing that it hung on as a fighter in Korea when the F 86 came along to counter the Migs. I don't have one in my kit stash wish has already grown :-) The T 33 served was an excellent fight trading variant. The Hobby Boss plastic looks very similar to my old Otaki kits. I recall maybe Aurora had a series of totally chrome kits. Good idea but terrible to build. Ironically the only part I have left is a crewman painted orange with green hat, the chrome still shows through. Life still gets in the way of getting to the VMS stripper. I do have a few parts set aside for test. I was blown away when I found a Renal kit of the USS Washington submarine with full interior even with crew. Unfortunately I tried to build it almost 60 years ago and it has fallen apart. It is going to be a full blown strip job when I can test stripper . What's amazing is I sprayed the hull black and it still looks pretty good.. I'll keep on building. Cheers till the next one.
HB F-80/RF-80 kits have completely wrong air intakes, which is a big problem as F-80 air intakes are complex in shape and are located in hardly accessible place to correct them even with resin correction set, not speaking of scratchbuilding.

Right on! I remember the chrome kits, not fun. Cheers!

I mentioned this in the review. The intakes may be a deal-breaker for some. Cheers!
Have the old monogram kit might just start it after i get done with the pt boat from atlantis.
Right on!
Aren't they the same decals as Airfix?
Great question, John! To clarify, do you mean the same marking option or the same decal manufacturer? Cheers!
Jet pilot john wayne anyone?😂

Right on!
