Did a great job of not giving the viewer the truth and showing the effects of the justice system on all of its participants. This is how it is for the lawyers involved especially, when the circumstances of a case are not clear and defined. This movie raises a lot of questions about the justice system.

The plea rate in criminal cases is much higher than the quoted 58%. More like 85% and may be higher.
I have seen innocent people take plea deals rather than take the risk of loosing at trials and face stiffer sentences.
For those who take to trial, less than 50% get a not guilty verdict.
So it does not matter what strategy one takes when being charged criminally, the odds are stacked against that individually greatly.

With the defendant taking a plea offer, he cannot have the case reviewed in the future, so if exculpatory evidence is discovered, it is of no use. Also, if he had to pay restitution, ALL of that money goes into the judges pocket. Nice system there. Other than what I posted before this, I saw this movie a long time ago with one of my sisters.

That's kind of the whole point you don't know why. Does he decide to plead guilty cuz he doesn't want to roll his dice on being convicted of a crime he didn't commit. Or did he realize the gig is up. In a lot of these criminal defense cases the only person who knows that is the defendant.

I think Ms. Moore was running for Jesse. Who says to the person that's robbing you, you're going to pay? Either you're really bold or you know someone that's going to take care of it.
Where did Jesse get the money for the diapers? He said he bought them but he didn't have a job.
She does drugs but still has things she doesn't sell or part with; earrings, necklace etc. She's doing okay. She disappeared after the robbery. Because she does drugs Jesse assumed she took off or was high somewhere. He took the plea at the end because he knows her and was scared she had much, much more to tell. He knew he didn't have a chance. She feels it was his fault she was robbed and cut. Justice all the same for her even if the story is a little different. She wanted him to get more time in the end.

Then guilty or not everyone would respond the same. Thus one has to pray that a similar crime ( pray for a crime!!!!), would be committed while reside behind bars and the blues could link the crimes in question to seek of a truthful solution to the cases in total

I was wrongfully arrested for a very serious charge in Washington state. The DA should never have charged me but things went ahead anyway. 10 years was the time I’d get if convicted at trial…I conferred with some law enforcement officials from other juridstictions(FBI,etc) and the consensus they came up with is that I had about a 20% chance to be found guilty at trial…After 4 years the DA(with tons of coercion from my top dog$40k lawyer)finally offered me a lesser charge and dropped the enhancement and the time was 365 days in Benton County jail. With good time I spent 8 months incarcerated and now I’m a convicted felon at 55 years old. Anyone can get caught up in the system…Random shit happens all the time…Ask for a lawyer immediately!!! I’ll wonder for the rest of my life if I should have went to trial…But I was so fucking frightened of spending 10 years in prison that. I chickened out…

This movie takes me back to when I worked at my local Police Station and County Court House many years ago. The Police were corrupt then and still are now. Not saying they all were but most of them were. Put a police uniform on them and they think they are GODS! 6 years ago I had occasion to take a Police Officer to Court. He fabricated a story but unbeknown to him I knew some "straight" Offices from a different area who gave me information he had buried (they did it anonymously of course). I won my case but the Officer in question wasn't dismissed.......he was just transferred to another area! The Judges are no better these days, they're a joke but as long as the Police Force, Judges and Lawyers get their money, the truth doesn't seem to matter to them.

The justice system is like any other industry , those near the top are not treated the same as everyone else.. We realize the corruptions ,frauds and rigging that take place on a daily basis and then we nave the assumed ,human failure factor with those directly involved within the system , lawyers, prosecutors, judges, jailers ,etc.etc . All these people , essentially the honest ones , àlso have lives and are subject to the same outside influence we all are , but when the factory worker or bartender makes a mistake or has a bad day it doesn't typically mean others will suffer the consequences . I can only imagine the kind of pressure some of these , 'honest' workers work under knowing the system and how it really works. Imagine if your future depended upon truth when truth seems to be a very insignificant part of this system.
The human failure when added to the purposeful corruption, rigging and frauds makes for a system that has become a rediculous cess pool and rather than attempting to fix it , it simply gets worse . Consider how this cesspool can be used against various groups of people and that's the real nightmare.

STOPPP with saying how "broken" the system is .. or how it (jail) is for "profit" .. its not about that at all .. most who make comments like that hav never experienced another country or their prisons and/or legal processes .. ours in comparison is by far the most lenient and fair . Its not perfect, but the Best One So Far .. every time I return to the United States I kiss the ground because we hav it so good here and everyone gets a fair trial .. we are presumed Innocent and thats a preface many other countries do not giv .. they hav base, deep corruption that exceeds anything here and bribery that is shameful and transparent .. at the end he wanted the deal because he was counting on her not even showing up, and yet she did .. hence, was guilty all along ..
