    Super cool! Thanks for the great video Marty! I'm 58 and my friends ask me why I am doing all this risky stuff. Well, I don't think it's all that risky and you answered it! Challenging your brain and challenging your body and pushing the edge a little bit, though keeping it safe, is what makes me feel alive. I have thousands and thousands of miles on my electric mountain bike but only 400 miles and 40 days on an electric unicycle. But I have been practicing four or five times a day in my backyard with low speed technical stuff, in addition to just getting out on the road and putting in the miles. The V12 is a great wheel but it's a bit tough on my knees and ankle when hitting bumps. I can't help myself so my Lynx is coming in about three weeks with the Kenda tires. 😂👍 this video has me totally inspired. As soon as I am comfortable with my skills I'm going to hit Sisar Rd in Ojai. It's a bit safer and gentler than Mount Wilson but it's still about 10 miles and 3700 feet of elevation gain. Between Ojai and Santa Barbara we have similar roads to yours with those fantastic views and just loving this awesome November/December weather. Thanks again for your great videos!

    Amazing views. I hope your ankle heals up soon. Great video of the Lynx being put to the test. looks like you used about 1/3 battery going up the 9.2 miles. Just wondering if you noted the battery percent when you got all the way back down to the bottom. Even if you took the road down I would be intereste in knowing how much battery was used overall or going down seperately. I have a Batch 2 Lynx on order from EWheels. Thanks the continuing great content. I hope one day we can ride together.

  • @MaebaraB

    Do you think that those motocross armors protect against road rash enough? I'm still using summer motorcycle jackets because of the abrasion resistance... but it gets pretty warm where I live.
    So I was considering buying the alpinestars bionic action v2. What is your opinion on that kind of protection, Marty?

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  5 місяців тому +3

      Gear offers no guarantees, but something is better than nothing. Focus on wrist, elbow, and knee protection (and head). Anything extra is just a plus.

    • @captnhuffy
      @captnhuffy 4 місяці тому

      Great question. I have both street and moto riding gear. Street gear is about abrasion protection, asphalt protection, grinding skin down to bone, most often in high wind-generating speeds. Moto gear is about impact protection… in a hard work (sweaty) conditions, at far lesser speeds.

    Hey Marty hope you’re doing well. What do you think the cell longevity between the 50s vs something like the 50s or even 40t? The Lynx seems like a great wheel for my use case but want it to last given the miles I put on.

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  5 місяців тому

      I'm perfectly happy with the performance of the 50E's. Really depends on how you ride. 50E's have been used for a long time and people have put huge number of miles on the wheels.

    • @hobowalker1

  • @jasras5003

    Is there a wheel you'd say is best for off-roading with a big weight capacity in mind? I'm a bigger guy, so I'm curious if there's a wheel bigger guys gravitate towards. Awesome ride, I live nearby and hope to be riding these trails soon!

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  4 місяці тому +1

      Honestly, I think the Lynx is it, unless your riding weight is 350-pounds. There are slightly bigger wheels (EX30, Sherman S, EB Commander Pro, etc) but they aren't as good for trails as lighter weight wheels like the Lynx. And I've seen really big guys ride much less powerful wheels then the Lynx.
      So if you don't need the range that a 3600wh wheel is going to give you (see above list), the Lynx is the wheel to beat in 2024. IMHO.

      @ElectricUnicycles  4 місяці тому +1

      @@jasras5003 I hope you do. Riding EUC's is a great way to reconnect with your community and nature. You might also consider the various 3600wh suspension wheels because of their bigger batteries which might serve you better depending on how you anticipate riding. But the Lynx can certainly handle your weight.

    Marty, if you could only have one all around wheel, what would it be? I'm deciding between the commander pro and the lynx.

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  5 місяців тому +1

      If those are the two wheels than the decision should be fairly easy to make. If you need/want a wheel capable of longer distances than the Commander Pro. If you don't need the range of a 3600wh wheel and are OK with the price (you can probably find the Commander Pro for ~$1k less) than the Lynx is the wheel to beat. I absolutely love mine and it's the wheel I grab unless I'm going on a very long ride. The Lynx is a solid ~50-mile wheel and and get ~65-miles if you aren't pushing it hard the whole way. Hope this helps.
