Watergum - cane toad tadpole control solution - Ignite Ideas recipient

Watergum is a not-for-profit charity that helps people gain skills, knowledge and a better understanding of the environment. One of the ways they do this is by offering the public a humane way to capture and remove cane toad tadpoles from Australia's waterways.
The organisation negotiated the commercialisation rights to a lure made from the toxic glands of cane toads that was developed by The University of Queensland. Watergum’s humane, purpose-built trap works with the lure to use the cane toad’s toxicity against the cane toad tadpoles.
Ignite Ideas funding is helping Watergum to commercialise the trap which is now available in a growing number of stores in Australia. They also benefitted from mentoring and business advice through the Ignite+ Program to develop their business knowledge to upscale their marketing efforts.
