- Tight lie, against the grain and over trouble. Not exactly a spot to be in on the golf course. Luckily, if you find yourself in this situation, Rory McIlroy is here with a few chipping tips to get you out of it. Using his TaylorMade Golf wedges and TP5x golf ball, Rory shows you how to hoist a flop over trouble, then how to reach a back pin position from the same tight, uphill lie.

I think it's really cool that Rory takes giving tips seriously. Regardless of how many times he's explained it or how easy it is for him, Rory is a true professional and is kind and open-minded about these videos.
I wish I could just watch a practice session with Rory and listen to his knowledge and reasoning. So cool. great video
Isn’t that what this video you just watch did?
Excellent. Thank you TaylorMade and Mr McIlroy.-The flatness of the landing point is part of the calculation I forget. The grain of the grass is not even on my radar. But most telling, even Rory, a seasoned pro at the highest level, has to remind himself “not to get too cute and just give yourself a putt.” Guilty.
The Rory videos are the best. Awesome content guys, keep it coming
Rory: "You don't wanna get too cute with it."
*Proceeds to hit a flop shot from a grainy bermuda lie over a bunker*
those lies are so gut wrenching. you see he couldn't bring himself to swing hard enough to land the ball where he intended?
Rory is amazing for learning little things. He breaks everything down so we’ll.
these videos are so cool and useful
The will be a great teaching pro. Rory goes in to depth and details every time he explains his shot 👏👏
Just a legend. Masters 22 baby!! Rory is the freaking best.
This Information is so valuable! Thanks, Rory!!!
Rory is truly passionate for the game
Always a shot that gets ya puckering a wee bit eh Rore
That flop to the red flag is top-class, even trying to replicate it would ended-up at the bunker or shanked it
Excellent video Taylormade. This is what people want to see. Not overly advertisey but some great info and you know Rory is playing the new Taylormade wedges.
Can’t wait to do this on the hard pan mud at my local muni
How could you not like Rory Mcilroy, such a good spud
FINALLY!!!!
Wide to wide as Rory says is really the key here
He really gets in depth when explaining the shot!! He doesn't try to hurry through the explanation!! I love this!!😎💪🏌️♂️
This is high quality, Harry Higgs chipping vids were bad, good stuff here.
Higgsy wasn’t playing out of the fringe on every shot
I dread these chips and often stuff them into the bunker so most important thing I take from this video is get the ball on the green priority for me as I'm a good putter and rarely three putt so maybe not try being too cute and get it real close just get it over the sand onto the putting surface
Awesome
These videos are great and the conversation is insightful...but expected more then 4 chips in a 8 minute chipping video
These Taylormade guys are probably obligated to make content so they might not really want to do these videos. Having said that it seems like Rory is actually interested in showing people how to make these shots. It’s really cool and shows some humility, like he doesn’t have to keep his game a secret.
Did they mention what wedge he's using?
I like this interviewer way better 👍
Need more of harry input taylormade
Rory McIlroy is good at golf
I wonder what techniques Paul Allen would use here.
Let’s see Paul Allen’s handicap
Pure
"The more you keep the ball forward the more can keep your weight on your left side." Gold.
🎉
Where's Trottie? He normally does this.
“Next time you chip, just remember these 10 easy things” 😕
You never have to think about 10 things. On all short shots: you always choose a landing spot, you always visualize trajectory, you always make a club selection (including whether to open up more loft or keep square), you (almost) always have ball to the front of your stance, you always have more weight on left foot. The thing about right shoulder is a feeling that he says works for him, you might need something else :)
I prefer just blading it 50 yards
Harry Higgs would have duffed one in the bunker, bladded one over the green and hosel shanked another.
The dude is a great guy but his short game videos were painful to watch 🥴
Whats the guys name doing this? black shirt
I pull out my 64° stinger in this situation 🤌🏼
Where is Trottie?
Well No Nut November ended early.
Random dude interupting Rory over and over again. LOL
Ya can learn alot from just watching the pro s but all it takes is practice and time unfortunately time is not on amateur s side 😑
first
Lowest scoring average on the PGA tour, I listen to what he says.
I love Rory, but his wedge play isn't exactly what he is known for.... still a billion times better than me though
I think it’s great when the interviewer interrupts almost everything the interviewee says especially during information you’d love to hear…not.
That is actually a pitch…shot ⛳️
These videos are infinitely better without trottie.
Having only ever played on standard grass I really don’t get all this grain talk. Please just go to a municipal course we’re the conditions would match the bigger percentage of the players who watch these vids. We all love those manicured courses but honestly I’ll probably only ever play a handful. I want to know what rory would do when he plays a course 99% of use would be able to get on.
Grain comes into play when you play on bermuda grass. If you play any golf in the south you will have to deal with grain. It isn't a course condition issue. Besides, nicer courses employ techniques to lessen or mitigate the grain, such as mowing from different directions every day. The lower end muni's are just going to cut the grass with no more thought about it and grain will be out of control until they verticut to remove the thatch layer, if they ever do that at all.
I live around central east coast and play public courses... just come down here and play a round. I guarantee you will understand all this talk about grain! :)
@@brianr6661 I live in England mate so I literally have to go abroad to play on that style of grass lol but thanks for explaining it abit much appreciated.
@@TheRealWarez one day I’ll go back to the good old USA with golf clubs in hand an give it a go but I’m afraid that may be awhile:(
the color grading is horrible on this video smh its hard to watch
