- Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Jason Day break down all things short game, from chip shots to bunker play, in this in-depth conversation filmed at the TaylorMade Photoshoot. What is the one piece of advice you're away taking from this video?
Me and my friends 30 minutes before we each shoot 94:
Hahahahahahaha
Hahahahaha brilliant best comment

Best comment and so true. Its so much fun to talk about technique in golf, but boy are my friends and I bad at golf.
If this video was 10 hours long I would watch it over and over and over.
Same.
@@TAYLORMADEGOLF need to get more of jason just being jason

I thought I was the only one thinking that🤣
What hoping TM would say something along the line of "Stay tuned..."
Tiger - almost holes first bunker shot of day
Also Tiger - yea I can’t really practice this at all anymore
Jason Day deserves a pay increase from Taylormade lol
He probably has shares in the company
I like how this is one comment @taylormade golf, will not reply to 🤣🤣🤣
Just need to win more majors.
I would give you two thumps up if I could.
Thats the thing between us and them. They know the correct technique AND can actually execute it. Good stuff
Why am I watching this? It's like watching F1 drivers swap tips on driving Monaco when I'm still trying to get my drivers license.
I would def watch that too, have u ever watched the driver briefings
Day: The British
MCIlroy: The what sorry?
The Open Championship. Good lad Rory lol
Absolutely spot on Rory, applause....
@Clayton Broyles No sorry. The correct name is The Open Championship. Always has been, hopefully always will be too.
@Clayton Broyles Wow, 4 months later lol. And no, I am right.
I'm watching this all the way through, taking all the incredible insight in and looking forward to skulling one through the green when I next play.
Hey taylormade I wish you luck at the masters
DJ!!!
Always find my way back to this and the range sessions. Shame no uncut range session this year (yet!🤞)
Jason day is amazing he keeps the conversation going and with those two monsters with him the wealth of knowledge is incredible
Its laughable when people say Phil Has the greatest short game of all time. Tiger has executed harder short game shots under pressure more often then Phil
Hank Haney (Tiger's ex coach) actually notes in his book how average Tiger's short game was. He said it was average for the tour, or even a little poor. He said he would always put too much spin on the easier shots. The more difficult shots he was amazing with the spin, but the easier shots not so much
Funny to hear them talk about loving Northeast rough. I developed my entire irons game in my own backyard in upstate ny picking balls out of 4 inch high 'grass' (mowed down hay field) I literally learned how to hit the ball in the air for the first time out of grass like that. Sometimes I'm more comfortable hitting shots from the rough than I am the fairway lol. Which still comes in handy, because lord knows my driver is never going to find a fairway lol.
Thanks jason for asking all the questions we would have lol dude is smart pickin their brains

The joys of a sponsor.
Mark Smith, Ha-Ha, that you picked up at Second Swing!!!
I bought my first new wedge only two years ago and found out they have grooves on them😀
I think if we all got free clubs, we would change them once a week haha

Us: “Stop cutting these clips so short!”
Taylormade: “Bob, don’t bother editing, just upload the raw file then take the rest of the day off.”
Love it!
This is what we all want!
Jason Day is going to be a star golf analyst whenever he decides to retire. He could even have his own sports show. He is extremely charismatic, and his intuition when speaking to people e.g. asking questions is excellent.
This is very true
+1
a little too charismatic when he cuts off tiger talking at 15:56
He's also so genuine. He loves learning from other people and getting them to open up and explain their technique. Good stuff.
Couldn’t agree more. Such a great teacher of the game
Jason Day has a future in the booth. I love listening to him talk and he is always so curious.
Thought the same thing. His ability to understand what the player is trying to do then articulate it is amazing. Plus he just seems so inquisitive that he really wants to understand everything. Really solid

"I change my wedges every week" as i look in my bag at my sand wedge from 1998
It’s a luxury only for the pros to be sure but most avid, serious golfers with low handicap should replace at least once per season. New wedges are worth the couple hundred bucks per season.
Lmaoooooo
Tiger prolly hits his wedges as much in 1 week as you have since 1998?
Yep. Mine are 15+ years old and I think it is time to get new ones now. Although I had a practice yesterday chipping 20 shots Lob, Sand, PW each from 40, 30, 20 yards out and 92% we on the green, but all still seems to be 15 ft-20ft short of the hole. Was pretty consistent, but I have 0 back spin.
Only putters can last for decades
Me: "I blade 9 out of 10 of my chips."
JDay: "That's impressive"
I find it so odd watching Tiger having normal conversations with colleagues and friends etc.
I legit forget he's actually a human.
That's so true. Meanwhile, when he's on the course, walking to the next hole... Fans asking for a fist pump, he ignores them. Total dbag arrogance. Glad that his career is como to end.
Fresh, young, and more approachable players (Collin Morikawa, Brooks, and the likes) are coming up the ranks.
@@cpcxgsr im pretty sure meetings hundreds of thousands of fans every single tournament for 20+ years straight was worn down his patience, hes still human 😭 i remember while trying to get an autograph from tiger he looked at the massive onslaught and just took a deep breath and sighed. he’s clearly tired after a long day of golf and would much like to go home
@@cpcxgsr most likely you don't play golf and if you do, then you are not a competitive player. The amount of tension, nerves and focus a player applies during a game is so immense, that 95% of the time they're in a zone throughout the tournament, the ones that can afford to react to fans are either in lead by a mile or know that they will not make the cut even if they tried hard. And to call someone a "dbag" without even knowing them personally says allot about your character
@@Kevin-nv9jp I guess you never seen Tiger up by 10 strokes going into the last hole. Where a young fan wanted a fist pump or a handshake. Or when he already won the tournament and a fan stuck out his hand to congratulate Tiger. And TW simply blew by them without acknowledging them.
This is widely known about Tiger. He's not the most approachable person. That's a fact.
@@noehujk I understand that. Sports is entertainment. Without your fans, these guys are nothing.

Gotta love Tiger’s availability. He knows everyone looks up to him and he seems to be so willing to give advice.
Tiger never does "things" for free. I'm sure TaylorMade threw him a big chunk of cheddar for an event like this.
Just like what American Express did when Tiger hosted a clinic years ago.
@@cpcxgsr why wouldn’t his time be compensated for ? I mean he doesn’t have to do this but expecting him to do it for free is absurd
@@hometownhero2500 there's nothing wrong with it. But if you're a sponsored athlete, which Tiger is. I'm sure it's part of his contract with TM to be at these type of events. But knowing Tiger he never does anything for free. Just like when he plays on the European Tour. He collects huge appearance fees to just to show up. If not, he's not going to be there. Exactly...its easy to say "oh just take it back here and hit a draw with more hook spin cover it more with your body and compress the inside of the ball"...while that may be true, I would step up with all that in mind and just stick the leading edge 3 inches behind the ball into the turf , then think "this shit doesn't work"
Dude they also practice 4/5 hours a day that’s why they can execute it
I love listening to Jason’s questions to Tiger and the responses. They’re really thoughtful and specific so Tigers responses are really interesting.
I’d love to watch a longer video with Jason and Tiger (and maybe Collin) doing things like these. Tiger has so much to say and Jason asks the questions to get it from him.
Why Colin may I ask?
I love how Jason Day has been world number 1 and has won a major and is still a complete Tiger fanboy

@@davidhopkins7215 True…all these guys are deceiving (not on purpose)…They make golf look so easy.
I love the way the guy comes in and says, "That's enough, you guys can stay but Tiger has to go." And Tiger just walks away without even saying goodbye to anyone.
They didn't say bye to him and should have been the first ones to do so as soon as they said: Tiger has to go - I might've left without saying bye as well... pfft
They are going to see each other in am hour. This was probably filmed at a press event.
It's not like Tiger is leaving. He's just going to another part of the event.
Wait what? At the beginning of the video I felt as if they where some type of bullies. What time frame is it when he gets kicked out?
Jason, when Tiger speaks, shut up.
They all need to shut up because they might learn a thing or two.
Its funny with tiger saying "I can't do that I have to feel it in my hands"...jesus man, imagine what sort of muscle memory those hands have and how much he can trust his hands...just crazy..."I don't visualize a spot I just look at the hole and trust my hands"...rory and Jason (both incredible world class players) just boggled

An Aussie, American and Irishman walk onto a golf course
My favorite part was when JD said he’s had a lot of great up and downs, but only because he’s missed a ton of greens. He seems like a genuinely good guy
If this video was 10 hours long I would watch it over and over and over.
I’d watch these 3 all day, the insight, the respect and just their love of golf. Who isn’t picking up a wedge after watching this.
I learned more about my own game with this video. Dragging the handle on chip shots is my biggest greenside problem. Heading to range to work on letting hands release through on short chips.
🙌
Depends what level you are at, for amateurs holding the club off is the safest method. Releasing the hands like the pro's will lead to chunks and thins unless you practice a lot.
Try practicing your chips shots with your right hand if right handed it teaches you to release and use the bounce, release the club but your hands must pas your leading leg👍🏻
@@John_Wood_ Agreed, as long as people understand that "holding off the club" does not mean "dragging the handle through impact with your arms." You can keep your arm structure so long as you keep rotating through the shot a la Jason Day.
@@wilsonlin1208 Exactly, avoiding flipping the hands is the key. To me it looks like Rors and JDay both hold the club off.

How insightful and fascinating was that ...just wow
i love Tailormade launch days, the videos that come from them when the best in the game get together casually are just phenomenal. they truly are in a different world then us weekend warriors, it makes me wonder how on earth we get around the course after seeing these guys. what a great video thank you so much.
it is Taylormade* though. Hate to be picky, but its my name after all. Well said comment, it dawns on me the amount of practice + natural talent these guys have to be able to explain and execute the shot at a moments notice. Excellent excellent video.
Loved Rory correcting Jason at the end when he was discussing playing 'The British'. 'The British?' 'Oh, you mean The Open Championship'.
I loved rory's "why?" At 3:32 something about his face and the way he says it kills me
Rory wouldn’t have had the balls to “correct” Tiger, had he said that.
Jason Day, the Taylor made cheerleader. Love that guys positivity and love for learning
That moment when your watching a golf vid at 4am and you hear a name of someone you actually know...nuh couldn't be....BRETT RUMFORD!..one of my brothers oldest mates from juniorand amateur/state golfing days here in Perth ..known each other since they were kids playing out at Hartfield Country Club....pretty cool indeed wasn't expecting that lol p.s my brother just corrected me..Brett played for Royal Perth..not Hartfield..oops..

I watch this video periodically. I love how Jason (himself obviously an incredibly talented golfer) just picks their brains the entire time, and Tiger and Rory pick his brain too... and then Rory starts talking about improving his chipping and short game, and Tiger nods along treating him like a peer. I never get tired of this video.

Tiger just casually dips halfway through the video lmao
I wonder if it's because he has a specific contract that doesn't include using new clubs. His brand is pretty valuable, so I figure he doesn't give promotion for free. Meanwhile, Day and Rory probably have Taylormade club contracts. Just a guess.
From what I’ve seen, tiger’s got a really packed schedule most days so he probably didn’t have as much time for filming that day

Let's be honest: we would get nothing out of these videos if it weren't for Jason Day.

Anyone gonna mention Rory ribbing JD about “the British”… aka the open championship 😂
Every time Tiger was going to speak the TM rep interrupted him.
He's probably backstabbing him right now, just like the media.
