Additionally, he also tells Variety why, out of all the films in his impressive catalog, he would love to see a "Pump Up the Volume" remake the most.

Pump up the volume is one badass flick. A great that I often revisit.
Amazing voice - still look like Marc, Pump Up the Volume I watch once per month. In the 90's in Poland if you like to get a song you recorded from the radio. It was like a hunting. There was a song - Leonard Cohen - if it be your will - it was really hard to find in those days - Now is a piece of cake. This movie is like a sentimental trip. Hey Christian you were great also in True romance. Nice to see you and listen to your amazing voice.
Great interview! I wanna look this good when I'm in my early 50s. A "Pump Up The Volume" sequel would be interesting no doubt but I say "Gleaming The Cube" all the way! Slater back on the board. So much box office potential there. 😜

OMG I love this man so much!! Glad I found this interview :) I've been trying to find a way to stream Pump Up the Volume and stumbled across this! Good gawd he's still freakin dreamy. I just finished re-watching Heathers, I'm on a Christian kick :P
Could you find it on streaming? I remember reading somewhere an interview with the producer or the director, and they said it would be extremely difficult to get PUTV to streaming services, due to the quite extensive soundtrack being licensed back then obviously without taking distribution via streaming into account.

Well if it means anything as a relation to Mark Hunter, I grew up much more shy in high school, mostly to the point where I buried my head, closed my eyes at my desk and just felt the torture of the other students stares and judgment. I inversed into my imagination. And to this day that isolated disciplined day dreaming I did in my own tortuous childhood has led me to the creative working towards the dream I created then person I am now. I wouldn't trade that pain I endured as a kid for anything I know now. My world is still isolated, but has within it so much creativity and strength in it, that it really does have so much more to offer and intrigue upon than this world has ever given. I work an isolated 3rd shift job now, but still also work on my big dream to change and share with the world. Thank you Christian for that. A cool fan from far away ✌️

Christian Slater is such a handsome man. Watching Dirty John The Betty Broderick story made me so angry and sad he really played the heck out of Daniel Broderick. I had conflicting feelings about Mr. Slater. But clearly he’s just brilliant at what he does.
I love Broadway, and pump up the volume is one of my favourite movies! If this gets made into a musical I would tots go to see it.

I always thought a part 2 of Pump up the volume was in order to find out what happened to Mark hunter. But also thought Mr. Slater was good as Lucky Luciano in mobsters 1991 with Patrick Dempsey, And a good bad guy in the movie with john Favreau, Daniel Stern, and Jermey Piven very bad things 1998.
Mark would be the ultimate influencer if he were out today.
NO!!!! You can’t remake something that’s already perfect!!! Now I could get behind a sequel to see if Mark actually went to prison or not

*A remake of "Pump Up the Volume" could either be centered around a failed app that Mark Hunter secretly uses to communicate with fellow students OR maybe on the radio since people are streaming these days.* But the story would still be the same because our problems then are still our problems today: addiction, bullying, parental pressures, teen pregnancy, and suicide. It would be like Euphoria but with an actual message.

Each episode of season 2 was directed by a female director. ZERO BLACK FEMALE DIRECTORS HIRED. Showrunner Alexandra Cunningham has got to do better in the future.
