      They had a similar gag on nmtb in England years back, and James is just copying the tone of that bit. I guess there's a reason a lot of Brits don't think James Corden is funny...

    • @cazzle2386
      @cazzle2386 5 років тому +46

      It's because he's not funny ;) no but seriously, in my opinion, he's never been original or creative and he has a tendency to talk over other people with "funny" comments which completely stops any kind of organic conversation or allow guests to be witty and charming as he leaves next to no gap for them to contribute. A good host above all else lets their guests shine and enhance their appearance, not use them as props for their own ego. Also as a Brit, the times he forces himself to sound American or use American slang is cringey as hell, it might go unnoticed by his American audience, but native Brits (especially those who have seen him in Gavin & Stacey or other work) just cringe and shake their head at it. Sounds very false. This whole skit is of course ripped from Never Mind the Buzzcocks (AMAZING SHOW, music based pop culture comedy, highly recommend to anyone outside the uk who hasn't seen it before) and while nothing in television is 100% original as such, it's so blatant and since he himself has been on NMTB, he knew what he was doing and made no mention of it. It's such a beloved show to Brits, this feels super disrespectful. Anyway that's my take on it, if people like him, I'm glad and nobody should tell you not to. Have a great day.

    Christian in a cool dude and shown a lot of class picking the right actor. This was a big deal to this actor and although James never intended it would have been an insult by Christian if he picked another dude. As usual, Christian was total class and honored this actor by recognizing him publicly which made his day. Way to go, Christian!

      I was just thinking it was a worse (as in less entertaining) version of that. Does Corden have any original ideas for his show, or does he just steal them from British shows the American audience aren't as familiar with, and do them in a less entertaining way??

  • @MickLoud999

    I think some of these are quite obvious. Kevin Bacon spent 6 weeks with the jury foreman and seemed to have no doubt. This one was a bit tougher but it seems Christian knew this one quite easily as well. Even with the passing of time pending a few days with someone almost exclusively tends to tattoo on your brain.

      that's because this bit was inspired by Never Mind The Buzzcocks, a british music quiz that had a line-up every episode where you had to pick out a former music star, and the first five minutes were entirely dedicated to making jokes about the people in the line-up. It was all in good fun (at least until Simon Amstell took over as host)
