His observational humour was brilliant, he was one of the few comedians that you could truly class as funny, the fact that he was a bit near the knuckle at times only made me love him more!! His comedy will live on forever.
Don't know how one person could stand there for 2 hours & continue to tell jokes & anecdotes like Dave Allen. He rehearsed his act extremely well & never missed a beat. When u really listen to him all of the things he talks about are very true. He knew what he was talking about. He made a lot of everyday situations seem so funny yet so logical. Yes, I believe he quit smoking but kept on drinking. Sadly though he still left us at 69 from arrhythmia. I hope if there is a god he saw Dave coming & accepted him after all those religious skits he did. Hopefully god has a sense of humour.
Yes , he would have had a lot of fun with the observations & personal experiences with smartphones , call center's, selfies,& the habits ALL Mobile phone users have. In this 1993 season of shows iam sure he explains about an experience he has with a ' talking car' and the frustrations he has with it! Dave Allen is very much missed comedian who's shows on both BBC in the 70s & 80s & later on ITV will never in my opinion date or go ' out of fashion'!
Very interesting that this version was never shown on Anglia, if you look his hair style changes through (11:25 trapped nerve to smoker gag) and this is the same style as episode 7. I'm not sure what was in the episode 1 that was broadcast on Anglia that was deemed unacceptable and replaced or vice versa with Carlton but there are certain 10 minutes of different footage between both shows that neither region aired in total
