When two different starships love each other very much.
LMAO! :P
This is something i love about this channel, not only do I get to see starship design i have never seen before, but it also gets the history they all deserve.
Another unusual and strange Federation starship that truly has its place in the fleet and is to be given a chance.
Im a huge fan of unusual starship designs... That make SOME sense :P
to me it looks like a earlier version of the California class but still a good looking ship
Absolutely love these videos! Helps me unwind and actually sleep at night.
Thank you so much :)
Great video. I would love to see this as a refit or even excelsior style
When Picaso makes a starship. Great video and of course Nerd Approved.
Thank the Prophets, I was worried :P
Thanks🖖
No, thank you! :)
Love all of your videos, a cool little ship that you might want to consider a video on is the Okinawa Class Patrol Frigate, created for the first two Starfleet Command games. There's not a lot of beta canon information on it, so would give another chance to flex those creative writing muscles lol. Keep up the fantastic work as always.
I would LOVE too, problem is finding a usable 3d Model of it! So if you run across one, let me know! And thank you for the support!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Will do my friend, I'll keep an eye out!
The *Centaur* class looks like it could be it's future successor.
As always great video 👏👏
Thank you :)
now I want to see an refit model of this kick ass class.
I know i've said this before but there's a real charm with the TOS style ships. There's something I like about this design... although the struts are a little too long for the proportions.
I love all starship designs from all eras, but Im strangely attracted to TOS Era Designs :)
Once again Good Sir, you have Ascended to new heights with another great video. I know you primarily do Federation ships, but I have asked a few times in your older videos to try to make one on the Klingon Frigate we used to use in Star Fleet Battles. I THINK it was the F-4, or D-4 or something like that. It was so OP we referred to it as the Frig-Nought. It was faintly reminiscent of a miniaturized D-7. Anyway... Keep up the good work. And remember, it is always a Good Day To Die!
Thank you so much, and I have looked in to such thing, problem is getting 3d Models of them! :)
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios I have faith in you, a simple Google search turns up lots of pictures and the like, but I am unsure as to how to find, or acquire actual 3D models.
Thank you, but it's not n easy process... Finding Popular Canon Starships, Easy, Popular Beta Canon Starships, Harder, Little known, obscure Starships, almost Impossible!
It looks like a space tug that had a saucer section integrated into it!!! 🤠👍
In a way, yes!
More like a Ptolemy-class tug mating with a Constitution-class secondary hull...😉
This ship looks so wrong! The story you made for this ship is wonderful and fits the class well, well done!
First off, I love your videos about classes. I'm a big ship nut and I DO love imagining difference classes and how they fit into the fold.
However (boy does this already sound like a compliment sandwich, stick with me on this!)....
One thing that boggles my mind a little is how all these classes can fit into the Federation.
The US Navy, for instance, has about 10 classes in service and only about 6 major roles. This is discounting some ships that are only one of its class and this is largely due to transitions from one class to another that fill the same role.
The Federation does, in fact, have more duties it performs then the US Military. It fills the science, diplomacy, cargo, civilian transport and escort roles among several other mission profiles that don't neatly fall into those categories. Those are mission profiles that the US Navy DOESN'T do and we even have a whole other military branch that is tasked with guard and rescue duties (the coast guard). Obviously Star Fleet deals with a bunch more mission profiles then the US does in all of its branches combined.
Of course you cover videos from a wide range of eras. In lore, if we are just going to the furthest point in the the "TNG Era" ending at 2401 with Star Trek: Picard, the Federation is just a snige older then the US.
What's hard for me to imagine is how so many different classes fit into each era that you've covered.
There's been a lot of debate over the years over how many ships Star Fleet Maintains. Some estimates put it at a under a thousand, other estimates put it at several thousand and even others boldly put it exceeding the 10k point.
The TL:DR version of all off this ---- I'd love to see a video from you, similar to Venomgeek's videos, that tries to put some sanity to what each era of the fleet looks like.
Your problem is you’re applying a contemporary perspective to a fundamentally different situation. The Royal Navy at the start of WW1 had been building a new class of battleship every year for over 20 years. There could be one or two classes of destroyer per year, one or two new classes of cruisers every 2-3 years, with dozens of one off ships. The federation values diversification and innovation. It’s never not trying to do better
@@johnlavery3433 To add, the WWI Royal Navy isn't necessarily the best comparison. If we're talking about roles and goals, probably the best comparison from history that can be made is the Royal Navy from the age of sail/age of exploration. And while they definitely had a number of large classes, a *lot* of the smaller ships were essentially of bespoke design or one of a handful of small ships.
I will always enjoy “Starfleet’s star fleet”
You and me both :)
Nice ship, and disco music.
Thanks, I take pride in both :P
Compared to the connie, this ship really look both fast and dangerous.
Then goal achieved :)
Gotta love some of these more bizarre fanon kitbash classes
LOL Most I dislike, but then, there are some like this one that warm my cold heart :P
What a little nefty ship, i like it!
Me too :)
In Kligon voice "LITTLE"? 😂
Love these videos. Kinda looks like a proto Miranda class
Thank you!
Speaking of some stardust, could you cover "long range shuttle" in The Motion Picture, the one that carried Spock to the Enterprise. We never see the ship again but I've always wondered it's role and why we never see it again (as far as I'm aware of). Would be fun to see if you put a story behind the ship as I liked the design and concept. :)
Live Long and Prosper
I loved that shuttle! After I saw the movie in the theater I got the ships of Star Trek paper model book and this shuttle was my favorite. Hung from the ceiling of my bedroom for months.
Reminds me of when Roddenberry wanted the Constitution class to regularly be upside-down. Unlike what Roddenberry intended, this pulls off that concept better.
I have to admit, nice video.
Thanks!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios almost to 200 episodes, I can’t wait to see what you’re special anniversary episode will be like.
very unusual ship but like it and very nice video
Thank you so much Dom :) As usual :) You brighten my day with your kind words :)
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios no Problem
:D
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios :D
Perfect music for this video
I do like the look of the ship with nacelles and engine pod at front just gives off one mean escort ship, despite you know the engineering being on the front of the ship does just seam like one big bad idea
Well...all i can say I hope she has a nice personality! LMAO!
LOL LOL LOL well..... :P
I might have been inspired and tried to create an update look for this class......
Oh yes?
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios still in blacking faze, but its somewhere between Walker class and miranda 🤣, mind you first time I modeled a ship from scratch
Thats going to be HUGE fun then :P
Looks like the precursor of the Cerritos. TOS Cali 😎
I love any design came from original Conny 🖖🏻
LOL Amen :)
Kind of reminds me of a Miranda class precursor. Can't help but feel it would have looked less like a goofy sled if the pylons were shorter and more toward the middle of the nacelles. Rosebud!
Like it, good story!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like a littl pug, cute... (I likes it)
LOL
Looks like a tos cali class
My OCD wants to flip it 180 degrees
Well just watch the video standing on your head then :P
So, its DS9's U.S.S. Defiant, 100 years earlier. Works for me!
LOL.... No
Speaking of Constitution style ships, mind if I ask your opinion on the Pioneer class from Star Trek Online? And if you'd be willing to do a beta canon video on it?
Actually, the Pioneer Class Video is coming out today at 10am EST ;) :P
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios
Well that’s convenient lol 😅
Great minds I guess :P
I think we have the channel's posterboy starship.
Yaaaaassssssss.
:)
Any person who takes even a small glance from her appearance would quickly Ascend to heaven.
Hence the name Ascender
LOL :)
hi still love the channel, just wandering if you are going to do any of the Kelvin timeline Starfleet ships class
A logical story
Thanks!
Can you make an Assender Class Refit? I know it's would be more or less a Miranda Class. But the differences in the Ascender would look really nice in a refit configuration. 1701-A has always been by #1.
I wouldn't mind one.
Daddy like. Bring more, please.🥺
Is it okay if I think of this as the ASS Ender class?
Lol Absolutely NOT! Lol (Fun Fact; That's exactly what we call it around the studio LOL 😉 )
I bet this WAS a very fast reaction ship... mainly because it was a hydrofoil...😁
(I'll leave now...)
LOL.... Banned :P
Is it me or does it look like a float plane?
LOL
The bowling alley is upside down!
There's no upside down in space :P
Meanwhile a Constitution class vessel warps by and says hey look there's my little brother and he's warping upside down!
Well that couldnt happen really, as this class was faster then the Connie :P
Looks like a California class precursor. Fun video, thanks
It's actually quite different!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios very true. It's probably just the way the pylons hang down that give me that impression.
I would say that compared to the Constitution class, the Assender class having a much smaller surface area but possessing the same shield generators as the Connie the shield strength and efficiency of the Assie would be far superior.
Eliminating the Connie's thin and vulnerable connecting dorsal "neck" is a definite tactical improvement. Can't say much for the lengthy foreward-mounted engine pylons, though...
🤔
It almost looks like a seaplane but with a saucer instead of a fuselage and winga.
what's the ship from 3.32?
Gemini Class, Star Trek: Online
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios is there a possibility on a video on this ship?
It gives me a California-class vibe.
It's what happens when a drunk Scotsman gets ahold of the blueprints.
It is a crazy desing. The onky reason to put the Warpgondels direct under the saucer section is to get a better warp field.
You mean like it says in the video? :P
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios yes.
:)
Its like a early Nebula class. Except instead of just attaching the drive with out a neck. They just ram it down the saucer throat. Lol.... its almost obscene...
I usually really like the bottom nacelle ships like Miranda and Walker, but man this thing is just homely. It's like ChatGPT designed a TOS-era ship.
Boooooo Wendy, Boooooooooo
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios "Instead of booing my opinion, why don't you make a constructive argument!" 😂 Nah, great video as always, just such an ugly ship!
Well duhhhhhh Wendy, its because that comment is ALL your opinion deserves! :P Extra Booooooooo for you (And thank you) :P
02:39 What was the footage from?
From Star Trek: Discovery 2 Part Series opener!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Thanks. spooling that up now. I'm a sucker for a good space battle.
nice video i particulary like the ship
Thank you so much :)
Unfortunately you missed the only fact I know about this class. Its nickname of Ass-ender class as it appears to fly backwards...
Yeaaaahhhhh, no! Boo Wendy, Boooooooo :P
i cant tell if were coming or going?
Rockwell Class is interesting too.
LOL Not even slightly, its a horrible fan design LOL
Ok, not to upset the thinking and design of Starships of this and many other starship classes. This issue is that the Starships before the refits we see in TOS and Before and during Binary Stars are missing a huge chunk of design comparassion. Would not be an idea to give this and other vessels a design twist and kit bash to Captain Pikes and Discovery standards?
No, as I respect the designer of this class, as a fellow creator... Thus I stayed true to their design!
Lovely Cerritos-like angles and silhouettes.
1 & 12
3 and 12 actually, but getting closer :P
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios I’ll get there, then people have to show me respects. Just you wait and see! 😆
Come on, you know respect is just given randomly and not earned... Geeezzzzzz :P
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios 😂
[Doctor Who voice] Oh, I don't like it. (To each his own... glad to see a different design, but this one just doesn't work for me at all)
And it doesnt have too :) IDIC :)
Question: What's the disco-y background music?
All my background music comes from UA-cams Royalty Free Audio Library! As for the title, I cant remember off the top of my head sorry!
This just came up in my feed again and decided to watch again. Just noticed the registration number. With a “13” at the beginning of the NCC, would that not mean it was designed before the Constitution class?
No, not at all, as registry numbers has never been a valid or reliable form of determining starship age... See USS Constellation (TOS) USS Grissom (STIII) etc etc
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios I guess sometimes it's just a matter of how you arrange the decals. LOL
Lol Sometimes lol But really, Reg Numbers are more random than not!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Yes, I always thought they should have used the city zip code for the California Class. So the Cerritos should have been NCC-90701.
Wait wait wait… so if the constitution class was constructed before the Earth- Klingon war, why didn’t we see any constitution class ships in the Battle of The Binary Stars scene in discovery?
It's canon that the Constitution and Enterprise were launched in 2245, 11 years before the Federation/ Klingon war of 2256. But like the video say, there were only 12 built by that year, and none were near the Binary Stars to respond to that crisis. That's also why the Enterprise was able to show up at the end of Season 1 of DSC, and why whole episodes have been devoted to how the Enterprise wasnt involved in the Klingon War Effort. Admiral Cornwall even tells us the Enterprise was specifically left out of the war effort as she represented the best of humanity, and humanity needed to survive!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios ah! Thank you for the info!
I can see design flaws in it I would have added two additional supports for the walk missiles but for compact Starship it would be perfectly designed almost .
Not necessary! See The Constitution Class!
I wonder if you should've made the lore precede the existance of the Constitution-class given the Ascender's registry number.🤔
Well no, Registry Numbers have never been an accurate way to determine a ship or classes age, Se Constellation, Grissom and Discovery for just a few examples off the top of my head!
Your red and green navigation lights are on the wrong sides. Green=starboard, Red=port side.
You'll have to speak to the original 3d Modeller who I pulled the Saucer Section from to kitbash this ship together on that, not me!
It looks like it's in reverse in flight
The USS Pushmepullyou
And First Place in "Ugliest Starship Design Ever" goes to the Ascender Class
Boo Wendy, Booooooooo!
Not quite. That dubious honor goes to the DS9 "Frankenstein Fleet's Yeager-class...🤮
Wow. What with the pylons' position, it's like they put the warp core right up front with this class!
Though I have to wonder where the forward weapons are mounted, though? I mean, the you-know-what looks like it'd be in the way of any phasers/launchers mounted on bottom of the the saucer.
I've always been bothered by the concept of ships getting decommissioned rapidly after newer tech comes out. It just seems so wasteful when they could be internally refit to support roles like supply runs, couriers, transports, or disarmed and given to other organizations to use for other purposes. Newest tech up front in defense and exploration and as new ones come out the gradually rotate to the lesser roles.
It feels a bit like this was the basis for the Farragut from snw
It wasnt, that was an entirely different class, that is smaller!
I think I've seen a picture of this or similar on Google Images
Well yes, hence my intro :P
This ship was a kitbash designed by J.E. Payne. Unfortunately the website is down.
Unfortunately, I need more than just your word on that...
The veritable "Yugo" of Starfleet...or ws it "Vega"??
Is it just me or does it look a lot like the California class…..
Still never stated in cannon that the warp scale has changed.. just saying.
And again, they dont have to mention "New Warp Scale" in Trek, they only have to show that it's changed, which they have! IE in Several episodes the TOS Enterprise goes over warp 10, even travelling at Warp 14.1 in the episode "That Which Survives," an impossibility according to TNG times... Gene himself stated the warp scale had changed in the 24th Century... Here is link for you to better understand this topic, and move on from it, as this is the last time Im entertaining it, my time is too valuable to continue to respond to the same question/ statement from you because you simply dont want to believe the truth, or do the research on it, just saying! Take care! memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Warp_factor
That design is godawful. It looks like SF engineers went on a weeklong bender before they designed it.
Nacelle struts are way too long.
Nahhhhhhh
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios I know they’re the struts kitbashed in from the Constitution class, but the shorter ones from Ptolemy or Federation would have done just as well along with moving the mount points back to where Ptolemy nacelle struts were attached. Just my 2c as a good Trinarie.
Thats not what the original designer had... I took great pains to ensure I got this as accurate to their design as possible out of respect! :)
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios All respect, I’m not sure I agree with you here. It would be like you borrowing a model and discovering that its warp core was actually made of Swiss cheese. Do you fix it or salute the designer?
You can disagree all you want, but if you were a true creator you would never disrespect another creator by stealing their design to make subtle changes to make 1 disgruntled Trek fan happy! Point is, I stayed faithful to their design and the majority here agree with me, that the design is perfect as is! And i say that with all due respect! Take care!
Some ships on roids. No neck
And for the tactical variant: USS Ass-ender
Kind of reminds me of the later California class
Aaah the Ass-Ender class!
TOS Cerritos moment
What's with the disco soundtrack lol
Because it fits the design!
Nit pick, Port & Starboard lights are reversed on the pics…
Then watch the video in a mirror!
Pretty wonky-looking, really.
Well you can't please everyone :P
Sorry, but that is an ugly ship.
Add a prop and a tail and you have a float plane.
I'm sorry, but that is an ugly ship😂
Well you cant please everyone, im just glad the majority love it :P
Most of your work is fascinating and the ships are great. I used to design ships like those for fun. In fact I will make a suggestion for a ship. Imagine a hospital ship- bigger than Enterprise f- with multiple shuttle bays. It's for planet wide disasters and named USS Leonard McCoy.
Well as my intro says, this isnt my design, I simply kitbashed the designers vision in to existence... So any issues you have with the design, should be taken up with them... If you can ever find them :P Also Im not a 3d Modeller at all... I can NOT create 3d models, just rearrange existing ones if I see fit :)
Ascension Class would have been a better name as Ascender sounds like Ass-Ender, maybe they introduced it at the end of all the Connie types hence the name who knows 😂. Precursor of the California Class in looks and contiuning the trend of getting the shittier assignments.
I have NO clue why the original designer chose that as the name for this class :P
