You’re very welcome Eric thank you so much for taking the time to write the kind words I enjoy it very much when people hear appreciate my work welcome to the channel
No idea why gm decided to not put a dedicated power source in to the chevy equinox 2011 but I need one! Do I have to drill the firewall in order to achieve this goal?
Thank you for this video. I am a newbie when it comes to working on cars, I have to replace the brake booster and master cylinder for a 2014 GMC Terrain and planning on removing the fuse box to make room. Do you have any videos on replacing the brake booster?
Hey Joe well welcome to the channel. Regretfully I do not. But I can tell you from experience that it was one of the first major undertaking that I did back on my 84 s10 blazer and they haven’t changed much since …. Generally most brake boosters are held on by four bolts. And I don’t know how accessible to brake booster is on your terrain because I can’t remember off the top of my head. But it’s not gonna really be much different I would recommend trying to remove the brake booster without disconnecting your master cylinder brake lines First you’ll start by removing the two nuts that hold the master cylinder to the brake booster. Then going inside the automobile taking the kick panel off should give you enough room to see 4 nuts bolted to The firewall. And you will also need to disconnect the brake pedal linkage that’s connected to the brake pedal. Try not to move anything because it does have an adjustment to it. Meaning there’s a screw that allows the brake pedal to push more or less. At a rested position. Then that will give you the flexibility to see what you need to remove next to be able to get the brake booster out because it should be loose at this point. Be careful not to bend the brake lines in such a manner that they can’t be bent back to their original locations or closely resemble in them do not make any kinks in your brakes lines. I’m not certain for sure that you’re going to be successful in getting it out without removing the master cylinder but if you do not open the bleeder screws on the calipers it is possible to bleed the brakes without bleeding all of the calipers because the fluid is going to stay stationary and you can bleed out the master cylinder with it attached to the brake booster once you’ve completed the whole process I do have a video of bleeding a brake booster without breeding the rest of the brake system Basically in that situation all you do is loosen up the lines on the master cylinder have someone push down on the brake pedal once it’s reconnected to everything and you finished installing your brake booster then you tighten up the lines with the person still holding the brake pedal down to the floor once you get the lines tightened up they will release the brake pedal and that will draw the air from in between the brake line and the master cylinder up into the master cylinder. You repeat this process several times and this will allow you to get the air out of the brake Master cylinder without bleeding the rest of the system. The critical part of this procedure is to make sure that you have the lines open before the person pushes down on the brake pedal. Then you close the lines before the person releases the brake pedal. I’m not certain how this will translate through a text message but I hope the information is helpful and it makes sense. It’s already broken so you can’t mess it up that much more give it a go good luck remember if anyone else can do it you can do it to
2007 Equinox. In viewing this video, the section where you dissemble the "circuit boards" I did not see any chips or other relays under the fuse board. I was told I have a bad relay the is under the fuse board..that the entire board needs replaced. The issue Im having is no power from the fuse box to the radiator fans and sensors..that a circuit board relay was burned out...not the removable relays, but on the bottom side of the fuse board. Am I being lied to? I did not see what he described in your video.
Nice video. My 2014 GMC Acadia is having the P1682 code and was saying that most likely the issue is from arching on #51 underneath. Sometimes, it won't start back up and I clear the code. I had read that some were saying replacing the fuse box ultimately solved the issue. My thoughts were like you were saying though that you could most likely clean the corrosion and arching underneath right?
Definitely clean the corrosion out of them generally they’re not broken obviously once you disassemble them if you see something broken you can repair it or then replace it but I’ve never had one that was actually beyond repair. You can’t break what’s already broken so why not at least take it apart and see if you can repair it
@@supercalcium I changed out the fuse box and didn't get that code anymore. They are a bit over priced. There's plenty of known good ones at Salvage yards. That's where I got mine. Any chance we could meet on a weekend and have you check it out for me? I'm willing to let you even use it for a repair video. Lol.
Thank you for the kind words I’m gonna take a shot in the dark and guess that it’s probably stability track related or it’s going into power reduced mode
@@sharpcarco It drives like its misfiring and jerks every once in a while. I have no check engine light and I did a tune up on it in April with brand new plugs and wires. Idk if it's possibly a corroded connection somewhere that I can't find or something more serious. My mechanic can't figure it out mainly because I have no light on the dash so there's nothing to go off of. Thank you for getting back to me.
