    Marrok's ability to switch fighting styles is reason enough to fear him. The biggest downfall for Maul was his unwillingness to concede to change in his fight with Kenobi. He also gives off younger energy, which suggests his training doesn't stem from pre-order 66 Jedi knowledge. This means who ever taught him (Most likely Vader) did so with a clearer outline than the other Inquisitors.

    If he is starkiller, this is the first time I've seen someone make the name connection. Personal theory as far as the force during combat part, he could just be trying to avoid showing Ahsoka something anakin may have taught her and could be testing the water of her skills. Very Dukoo/Sideous kind of mentality if that makes sense.

    I actually theorized that Marrok never had a title, that he was a trainee of the Inquisitorious when it was disbanded and afterwards was either reassigned to some other aspect of the Imperial government to continue serving in a different capacity, or had to flee amidst a miniaturized ‘Second Purge’ aimed at the Inquisitors. This lack of being made to specialize in the Inquisitor style of aggression and reliance on intimidation could have allowed for him to develop his own skills free of the deliberately limiting training style that was imposed by Vader and Palps. Expand that to over a decade of surviving in a galaxy hostile to him on almost all sides and it’s no surprise that Marrok would be a cut above the rest.

  • @Constitutionalknight
    @Constitutionalknight Рік тому +77

    I don't think Marrock is Ezra or Starkiller. I'm of the mind that he was an Inquisitor that came across Baylen and Baylen was able to turn him to his side. He was likely trained by Baylen and that's why he would fight better than your average Inquisitor. He seems to be 3rd in command in their circle, taking orders from Shin. The Mask makes him more mysterious than he actually is in my opinion, so far at least.

    Marrok actually references many things. First the name Marrok is name of the animal that appears in the star wars. In Arthurian legend Marrok is obscure knight turned into wolf or werewolf by a witch. And in Ahsoka his name therefore has huge asociation with wolves. Think about it Baylan Skoll as in Skoll the child Fenrir, Shin Hati the same child of Fenrir again and they chase the sun and moon and both of them seek something. Also you could define Ahsoka as lone wolf as she wanders the galaxy as seen in Ahsoka series. And finally Marrok sounds similar to Marek as in Galen Marek. It is all intentional. As for his power. The fact that he survived for so long he would have time to train far more than any other inquisitor thus even if he was at first no more powerul than any other inquisitor at first the fact that he survived and had chance to improve he would ofcourse become more powerful. Regardless the fact that he was able to hold his ground against Ahsoka is telling how strong and smart he is.

    I’m pretty sure they’re going with the Apprentice v Apprentice rivalry trope.
    Marrok is an apprentice to Vader, Ahsoka is an apprentice to Anakin. One from fear and abuse, one from love and genuine care. MAYBE there will be an arc for Ahsoka to attempt to console Marrok over this contrasted upbringing.
    Sabine is an apprentice to Ahsoka, and will have a rivalry with Shin, which was more or less established in Episode 2.

    I think it is most likely that he is just a survivor, and fate brought him and Baylen/Shin together, working as mercenaries, essentially, albeit with their own ends mixed in. Baylen likely gave him more training, which rounded him out more. I think it's fun to let our minds run wild, but at the end of the day, Disney usually keeps things in a strict order. Introducing Star Killer to canon, through him somehow having been cloned into an eventual Inquisitor, is just a wild reach of a way to do it. They would introduce him much more directly, given the impact that introduction would have on the slowly expanding new-canon.

    I actually think that he's not gonna be someone we know, and that Dave Filoni is actually just writing another complex new character who can delve into later in the story. He might be loosely based on starkiller, but I think the reason he's in the show because of Thrawn's eventual defeat in the long run. If I'm not mistaken, in the original Thrawn story, Thrawn loses the war against the new republic because he's killed by his assasin, Rukh. Given that Rukh was already introduced and killed in Rebels season 4, Marrok might be his replacement and Thrawn might eventually be killed by him in one of the new movies made by Dave Filoni. It could be that Ashoka focuses more on humanizing and fleshing out Baylan and Shin, because they might die in the Ahsoka show and Marrok can still be fleshed out in Filoni's future project. After all, Filoni isn't dumb enough to just create a cool new character and then to just have him fight ahsoka a couple times and die, and every identity theory I've heard so far doesn't really sound like it could work. Ezra is in another galaxy and couldn't become an inquisitor in time because he went there with Thrawn 1 year BBY. It's not gonna be Barriss because Marrok's been called him by multiple characters. And starkiller or a clone of someone would just be messy.

    • @VioletMoon4155
      @VioletMoon4155 Рік тому

      I like this theory, and I honestly thought the same thing. But I disagree in that I do think this exact story can work using Starkiller.
      I think there needs to be a strong dark side Force user during this time period in order to help explain how the First Order rose to power so quickly. It would make sense that Starkiller would be in the shadows until the fall of the Empire, being that he was Vader's *secret* apprentice. He could have joined forces with Baylan, Shin, and Morgan simply out of necessity, or because he needed to use them in order to get to Thrawn (or carry out a side mission the others aren't aware of).
      If it is Starkiller, he could work alongside Thrawn as his right hand to restore power to the Imperials and begin its organization into the First Order. And when he becomes hungry for power, he could join the quest to kill Thrawn. And then basically double-cross that side again, and then Luke/Ahsoka ultimately ends up killing him.
      But by this point, the First Order can already have some degree of power. And perhaps they even name "Starkiller Base" after, well, Starkiller.
      Just a thought. I like your thoughts on this a lot... I just think it could work with Starkiller.

      But still has a connection to Ashoka and Huyang for the reveal.

    It makes sense that they would recreate star killers character because when you think about it, starkiller was found as a child, which that's what inquisit us are full sensitive children so Vader could have been the one to actually discover marook so to Vader he was more special than the other ones

    At this point let him be a new character, continue building the lore with fresh faces to join the already existing ones. There so much potential with the new characters introduced between some of the shows it would be exciting to see where they came from and where they can go.
    Plus if we ever get a Galen Marek in canon version let him be as true to the original as he can be.

    I'm leaning toward the "Marrok is Ezra" side. Apart from the wolf references etc, in episode 3 there was a scene that showed Marrok's focus move from the battle at hand and look directly at the Purgill. This scene did not seem to be important to the battle, but could be an important foreshadowing due to Ezra's connection with the Purgill. Though the scene may also be a misdirection of sorts as well, meant only to alude to some Marrok/Ezra connection. I seriously doubt it's Starkiller. Anyone who played thru those games knows Starkiller was insanely powerful and Marrok is definitely NOT on that level. Ahsoka is certainly a powerful force user, and I love her to death but I just do not see her being able to defeat Starkiller. That being said, I'm unsure of the time period in which these episodes occur in relation to the Starkiller storyline, so there may be some additional storyline explaining the seemingly weak version of Starkiller. My guess is that Morgan Elsbeth used Nightsister magic to locate Ezra and turn Ezra, in order to harness the powers of the Purgill. Thrawn perhaps gave her the info and did the planning necessary to accomplish this, knowing that Ezra was both alive and had the connection to the Purgill necessary to return them both to the main galaxy. It may also be likely that Baylan is aware of Marrok being Ezra and has some plan to use Ezra and Thrawn in his own plans to use the World Between Worlds to his own ends. However with the unfortunate passing of Mr. Stevenson, his stroyline may end before such a plan could come to fruition, or may end in spectacular fashion with the death of the character as well.

    Ive believed it was ezra for awhile now, and i think its still a likely chance it is him. Im pretty positive Sam Witwer is doing the helmets voicebox. I believe Marrok fights very similar to how Ezra was fighting when he used the sith holocron. Ezra also studied the holocron of Anakin demonstrating form V, also if its ezra itd make sense why he sticks out amongst the inquisitors as he had fought against them for years. Marrok fights a lot like Maul and once again itd make sense as Maul exposed the inquisitors in the finale of season 2, marrok doesn’t seem to try and execute off fear like typical inquisitors but instead planting traps which was the purpose of HK droid in my opinion. Whoever it is his strategy is what the remnants of the empire need.

      I was thinking it was Ezra too. He probably rode the pergills back to where they are building the ring , leaving thrawn in deep space. Ezra probably had to use the dark side of the force to be able to survive. Also the way marrok looked at the pergills like he knew what they were

    • @baxterwilliams9290

      @@madgreek253 i think that ezra is under nightsister magik or something along the lines of mind control because I don’t think that ezra would turn after his sacrifice willingly, i think that purrgil could have brought him back Seatos, the planet that the ring is above. Which maybe Morgan Alsbeth was already on at that point and was able to place him under nightsister magik

    Marrock is by far the most interesting character in the show. And I suspect Dave Filoni designed it that way. If you look at Marrok's armor, you can see its kind of worn and rusted. I believe this is to give the audience a clue that this character has been around for quite awhile.
    Considering all the buzz surrounding Marrok, I think it is someone we already know and not a brand new character. Possibly a Starkiller clone or even Lu-uke.
