    Point of correction. The level of German knowledge required right now is B2 and that language is not easy at all.(doesn't compare with ielts)Also the process of processing documents and clearing exams doing it from outside that country is not a joke. It sounds easy because that lady was living in that country with her husband.

      The language is no joke, as I said I even repeated what I thought I knew😂
      Processing documents: I did it during COVID so everything took long. Exams were even cancelled. Now things are moving faster...some regions of Germany are slower than others. I'm in Bayern

    By the way child care is also such an issue in Uganda. Us working mums really struggle. But what makes it easier, is the possibility to get into my car and drive to my mothers house, or sisters house and just breathe.. That sense of community and family. I would really struggle if I moved countries.

    Thank you so much for sharing Amanda's story! There are so many opportunities all over the world. As someone who has lived in the USA for over 5 years, I don't think the USA is that bad. And in terms of payment/salary; those who are fully qualified attendings/consultants get the big bucks, but the trainees get enough to get by. But inflation is not helping; things are tough out here too; especially for trainees (residents and fellows).

    • @drcissyatwine
      @drcissyatwine  Рік тому

      USA does sound way better in terms of money.. Een today Consultants in the UK are on strike citing better pay elsewher like the US. Also the racism issue isnt that much different..someone who knows better was saying it can be worse in the UK because they pretend that they are not racist which is like burying your head in the sand. There was even a report claiming There is no institutional racism in the UK ! Atleast its acknowledged in the US...which is always the first step to solving a problem.. So if you're reading this. please don't be put off by the US... try your luck

      @@drcissyatwine 😂 Yes it's German. I am quite an OG in Germany than Amanda but my journey is different I came to this country, started a new career from scratch, apart from high cost of living than in Uganda, Germany can educate you for free. I come from a natural science background currently into my third year of PhD in molecular oncology/stem cell research.

      @@drcissyatwine I never really devoted a specific time line to learn the scientific German. Basically because one can survive with English when pursuing a science research path. Ofcourse I need German for my daily navigation as it's the official language of communication at work. Also my potential future workplace will involve mostly English & less German.

      I wrote before i got to the part of the video which she said she does not want to share her contacts publicly. 😄. Anyways, if she does get the chance to see this or if you could please pass this question onto her, I wanted to find out what she did in order to familiarise herself with the healthcare system here in Germany after arriving. Did she do any Praktikums? I have been living here since 2022 and in this time I was heavily focusing on improving my language and I now recently have B2. I have submitted my document but according to people on the Internet who did submitted their documents, it takes more than the four months stated on their website. It could take up to 9 months and I’m wondering how can I use this time More productively in order to get familiar with the healthcare system and with the conditions that are common here in Germany. I came immediately after my graduation here to Germany so I do not have any work experience so I am nervous about stepping into the hospital as a non-student. I did do my one year internship in my final year of study. What would be the best course of action to fill up this time while waiting for the processes to be done? Thank you so much for the informative video and the time taken to make your videos. Looking forward to your response

      Dear Karen, if you share your email, I can get in touch.
      I came to Germany shortly before COVID. It took a very long time to process my documents. In that time I attended a special preparation course for the exams. I did this even without an exam date. It was very helpful. I even met people with whom we formed a discussion group. It pleases me to say that except for one person, we all have our approbation today.
      After the course, I did a hospitality for about 2 months maybe and that also helped me get familiar with the system

      How long would it take under normal circumstances to clear the first part of the exams given the fact that I have I have the B1 German certificate.
      And what are the costs involved

    • @amandaakatukunda
      @amandaakatukunda Рік тому +2

      The costs really vary depending on the course you visit and the area you're living in. Since you have B1 already. I'd say 6 months to getting a temporary license

    • @amandaakatukunda
      @amandaakatukunda Рік тому +2

      However when I came, I also had B1 but I could hardly follow a conversation. So I actually repeated B1 and did B2. You have to get used to different accents and people talking fast
