What a great idea Jackie! I think I'd call this a 'collage print' and I think you've invented it :) I think this would be great if you're stuck, not inspired toward anything in particular, or even if you're having a bad day and need a reset. I'm with you as a randomness fan -- it's like having an invisible partner in art-making who often has way better ideas than you do -- there's some really great ideas in there for future collages that you would never have found otherwise ❤
I agree that I'd call it a layered monoprint. I really appreciate you showing your ways of creating, it opens my eyes up to new ideas. I think I haven't explored enough with my gelli plate. I've wanted to create monoprints, but felt so often that they seemed a bit flat or one note- this idea of layering takes care of that for sure. Thank you for sharing!
It never fails to amaze me how you can find new and innovative ways to "play" and keep things interesting. While I don't have a creative name for it (patchwork gelli printing?) I loved everything about it, from potential finished pieces to multi layered printed paper, it's truly incredible! ❤❤❤
Hi Jackie - I really like this - might have a go today. They aren' treally collages because there's no assembly by gluing. I would call them collectively a monoprint series because each one is a monoprint, and they form a strong series by all the shared colours and patterns. The fluro red and celadon is a surprisingly successful combination which I never would have thought of.
Everything you’ve said is true. And yet, when I see them, I see pieces of what would have been the whole sheet of collage paper divided up and added to other pages in sections - just as I could have done had I printed a whole sheet at once and cut it up into rectangles. In my mind both are true. It’s a monoprint and it’s a pseudo collage. If I cut out each separate section and glued it to a separate piece in the same order, that would make it a collage… but I think the feel of it is stronger leaving it un-cut. It’s like a circular reference in my mind 🤣
@jackieschomburgart Yes - really 'no cut collage' is a better term because it is more specific and that is what they look like. 'Monoprint' doesn't convey anything much.
This looks like so much fun! After making detailed Christmas cards for the past month, this is something I really needed!!! I’m off to play with my Gelli plates 😊 Thank you so much for your inspiration ❤
I have heard it called block printing. - but whatever you want to call it - fun it is!! Love how yours turned out ❤❤❤ Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent
I enjoyed watching you create the No Cut Collage and think that's a great name for the process. I also will try it soon to see what I can create, Thank you!
Thank you for the baren link! And I love your funny sense of humor....'I shouldn't be giving fashion advice since I basically live in yoga pants'. Ha Ha, very cute.
Funny, celadon was my favorite glaze when I was working on an ill-fated ceramics degree, and I loved when it got over-fired a bit and turned raspberry around the edges.
@jackieschomburgart That's how I remember it, but it was almost 40 years ago. I also rued the loss of Albany slip, which I'd just discovered. Ah, well.
I NEED those tiny rubber bands...where did you buy them? They make such a great pattern...and thank you for this process...LOVE how all the sheets turned out!
Have you ever tried mixing in a drop of glycerine into your paints? Just a drop. It will make it a bit more open, without the need to let it dry for a long time. It's like how Jane Davies used glazing medium, but it doesn't dilute the paint and doesn't go sticky. I have open paints, but and they work beautifully, but for some of your followers that don't have the chance or money to buy the opens, glycerine is a very cool medium! I often use it, with acrylics and watercolour. It's brilliant! And cheap!!
I've been looking for celadon acrylics but can't find any. Liquitex does a Grey Green but it doesn't have the slight blue tinge to it. Can anyone recommend a brand?
I have added your video to my playlist Gel printing - Patchwork / color block ua-cam.com/play/PLl-w4JxzL7QvYpXOlxSA-2SjkqOGcdaVM.html - so that's how I think of the technique
wow - love it! So inspiring and really have to let go and have fun! No cut and no tear! Drew Steinbrecher does a similar technique and creates a folded book from a single large sheet ua-cam.com/video/oaNZIzqcklA/v-deo.htmlsi=K2MUouLAIlzhWTBY
I’d call this layered monoprinting. Very interesting! Random fun!
Thanks for the input! So much fun! ❤️

Oooh! Collage printing is a great way to think of it! Love the idea of the “art partner who has better ideas than you do” 😂❤️❤️❤️

Haha, whatever it is, it’s FUN! 😄 Thanks so much for sharing the love! 💖🎉

A multi-print as opposed to a monoprint? It's such a fun! And I love the colors and the overall result of your session!
Yes, you got it! 🙌 So happy you like how it turned out! 💖✨

This is so fun! And freeing! …I think I’d call it Patchwork Geli Pulls :)
Drew Steinbrecher does this a lot too. Love this project ❤
Yesss! 😍 Love that! Thanks so much for the support! 💖✨
Reminds me of patchwork quilts.
I can see it! ❤️
Inspiration is what I call your gelli-blockollage!
YES!! ❤️🤩🤩🤩
I’ve seen other versions of this called segmenting. I like your method!
Ooh, love that you noticed! 🙌 So happy you’re enjoying my method! 😄✨
Thank you for the baren link! And I love your funny sense of humor....'I shouldn't be giving fashion advice since I basically live in yoga pants'. Ha Ha, very cute.
Just trying to be upfront that I have other strengths 😂😂😂
I love this! I call it patchwork. 😊
Love it!
These would be lovely with layered translucent paints.
Agreed! ❤️
Wow Jackie, this is so fresh and You! Thank you so much 😂❤
Thanks Linda! ❤️❤️❤️
Funny, celadon was my favorite glaze when I was working on an ill-fated ceramics degree, and I loved when it got over-fired a bit and turned raspberry around the edges.
Ooooh! I’ve never seen the raspberry but in my mind it’s gorgeous! 😍

What a blast! Whaddaya call the rubbing tool you use? Thanks, Jackie
That’s called a baren - i have arthritis in my hands and it helps 🤗 I’ll add a link in the video description!
Here’s a link: amzn.to/3OXlzjx
If you like a more exact process, there are things like linocut, which can still be done at home. 😊
Ooh, linocut sounds like a great option! 🎨 Thanks for the tip! 😊💡
Hello dear artist , never be sorry for what you say 👍
With best wishes
You’re so sweet! 😊 I really appreciate that! 💖 Big hugs! 🤗💫
You are on to something big
Haha, I sure hope so! 😆 Thanks for the awesome support! 💖🙌
Tou may need to add Open medium to your paints for the fussy prints, like thevtiny rubberbands.
Great idea! ❤️🙌🏻🌈

Also i think I've seen Robyn McClendon do something like this. Very different style but similar technique.
Totally, Robyn’s style is amazing! 😍 It’s fun to explore similar techniques in different ways! 🎨
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤
Yesss!! 🙌💖 Appreciate the support! You're awesome! 🎉👏
What about "patchwork printing"?
I can see it 🤗❤️🌈
I've been looking for celadon acrylics but can't find any. Liquitex does a Grey Green but it doesn't have the slight blue tinge to it. Can anyone recommend a brand?
Blick has a matte celadon and Golden has Titan green pale - not sure what shade you’re going for but I like those two 👍
@@jackieschomburgart Thank you!
Call it mosaic collage? Magic collage?
I live in black jeans; my dress black jeans are the ones without paint on them. ;)
Haha! Same here! 🤣🤣🤣
imprint collage
Thanks Jen! ❤️
