    This is brilliant! 😮 I love the juxtaposition between the solid & the transparent glass!
    I am sure it is bitter sweet closing down your shop. Best…

      Yes, you are right. But I think it is the best time. Though it's not stopping me working with glass.

    For marking I have had good luck using a Sharpie pen then coating the line with chapstick or blister. Well done Jeff!

      Hi Donna. I tried that but it didn't work for me. What's you secret?

      Well, I goober it on pretty thick... I have to admit I haven't had cuts as long as yours. Maybe beginners luck 😂

    The jagged edge cool. I would use the whole thing for a bowl.

      Hi Lorna. It was, but that meant it overlapped the edge of the mould. I had a little concern about that.

    Thanks for the paint pen with the Taurus cutting. I have to wear a head lamp to see where I am cutting but have lost the line to the water lots of times. I also use vinyl templates cut on my cricut but they also start slipping and sliding.

    I use an oscillating sander with a vacuum connected and 400 grit sand paper to rough up the surface. Quite a stunning result.

    • @RocketRoseArt
      @RocketRoseArt  5 місяців тому

      Is it under water or you just rely on the vacuum?

    • @TheDeerInn
      @TheDeerInn 5 місяців тому

      @@RocketRoseArtIt's a pneumatic oscillating, not electric, I spray the glass with a little soap in the water that way the bubbles will also keeps any dust that would be created moist and not flying around and the vacuum sucks up the fluid with the glass particles. No sand blaster needed then and I just use a half sized storage bin for the work area. The sander was from Harbor Freight (40 dollars) and the storage container from Walmart (4-5 dollars).

      It sounds like a great option. I hope others read this. More options are always great.

    Jeff, first of all, congratulations on actually honoring your retirement, lol! I am very happy for you and your wife, good for you! The platter looks beautiful, as always your precision and methodology is unmatched. I thought the reverse side looked pretty good too, so I was a bit surprised you didn't opt to slump that side face up. It didn't have those random salmon colored dots, at least that I could see, perhaps I missed it though. It ended up being beautiful regardless. Looking forward to your wonderful videos...when you get around to the next one that is, you ARE retired after all so start enjoying what YOU want! 😁❣ As always, thank you for sharing!

    I love your flat lap. What kind is it?

    • @RocketRoseArt
      @RocketRoseArt  5 місяців тому

      It's just an old lapidary lap I purchased some years ago used. Very basic but does the job, mostly. Not sure about the brand.

      I was trying for a wobbly look to the lines. The blue green representing water that seemed appropriate.

    Dear Jeff, reaching directly to inquiry, pardon for this. But wonder if you can give your insights on these both methods. I don't know what materials decals are made of, and in the Derek's method, no doubt he is hand painting the glass with special stain colour and then firing in kiln. The stain is probably called 'silver stain' thus name stained glass came. But if you can make an informative video on discussing and demonstrating on both the techniques, it will be very knowledgeable.

    • @RocketRoseArt
      @RocketRoseArt  5 місяців тому +1

      Honestly, I think Derek has a wonderful channel and he is the best source for information on that technique. He has multiple videos that cover all techniques. I don't have his experience so anything I do would be as an amateur. @DerekHuntArtist Regards decals, I'm not sure about the medium. I did enquire once but they wouldn't part with the information. And Derek is using enamels as well.

      @@RocketRoseArt thanks a lot Jeff, I am still unclear about the photograph you transferred on glass, is it fired after the imprint? what materials these stickers are made of ? BTW i really appreciate your explorations with precisions and spontaneous fabulous artworks you venture in !
