I know this is late to the party, but I think you may have had a bad copy of the Elmarit that needed adjustment. My copy (typ 11606) does not exhibit the problems you face with a soft aperture ring. Based on your comments I tried and tried to “accidentally “ move the aperture ring while focusing and simply could not do it . Laying my camera with lens on the countertop, it requires two fingers to move the aperture ring. Trying to move it with a single finger was not possible. Not questioning your other conclusions. CV makes good lenses and I have owned half a dozen over the years. For my experience, I’m very satisfied with the Elmarit and for me it is a keeper.

Kinda hard to compare with 1080p, but it's funny to me how nowadays people say the Elmarit is all about sharpness, whilst the Summicron at the same aperture is sharper.
I went with the Elmarit in the end, because well, it's Leica. I have the 35mm Color Skopar and it's a great lens as well, but the vignetting is quiet apparent (and is so on almost all Voigtlander lenses), so I'm surprised it's no issue on the 28mm.
I'm kind of tempted to get a Thypoch Simera 28mm at some point, the f/1.4 seems to be surprisingly good and would complement the f/2.8 (which is more of a walkaround lens).

I already have the Voightlander 35mm f2.5 Color Skopar for my M6 Titanium and I'm now sure that the 28mm Color Skopar VM will be my next purchase because it offers very good quality for a relatively low price.
I love the quality of my 35mm and the size and handling of it.

Good to know about the Color Skopar. I have the v1 Ultron 28 but the CS28 is smaller which I prefer. If you have tried the v1 Ultron 28, how would you say it compares to the CS28? Thx in advance! 🤙🏽

Hmm, you did your test shots on a digital M, right? Then the aspect of distortion is not handled equally with the Elmarit (most likely already coded) and the Color Skopar (there's no code for that). The Elmarit has visible barrel distortion (as documented in books listing all the lenses), and this is most likely corrected by the raw converter (unless you used one that is able to switch this off). For the Color Skopar, this would have to be done "manually" in the conversion process. (Even if JPEGs are used, the camera should do the correction lens distortion.) Sadly, Voigtländer doesn't offer it for LTM (Leica 39 mm thread mount), even though it would be of little consequence for the mechanical construction and could be easily adapted to M mount.

Love that you record with the MKE 200 - have it also - love it

how do you manage it when you look through the viewfinder? I also wear glasses and typically can't see frame lines wider than 35mm - nearly impossible to see 28mm frame lines.

Have been using the CV 28/2 Ultron II for some time now and looking to see how the CV 28/2.8 Skopar stacks up to it... Thanks Dee... Loving the Lions hat...

The Voigtländer looks significantly better for a fraction of the price and Leica should be embarrassed at their ridiculous "luxury brand" over pricing. I think it's great you're showing people this. The 58mm 1.4 easily competes with Leica quality as well.

yes bro color skopar lenses have been my obsession the past year or so since I tried one for the first time. I've also been looking at the Voigtlander Noktons I really would like to try the 58mm f1.4 for pk mount but its so rare in that mount so I may just need to adapt it.

Did you try manually coding the lens and, if so, which lens did you pretend it was. The Leica Elmarit?

Nice comparison of cosina voigtlander lens to leica elmarit 28mm F2.8, and I agreed with you, if the performance difference is not that big, night and day, why not buying cosina voigtlander lenses, especially the price more affordable than the leica, and also cosina voigtlander lenses are made in japan since 1999. They are reliable than Chinese lens manufacturers that has a issue of remodeling or coping eaxh other lens structures then change the name to other company names then, sell it much more than the other competitor. I'm not sure about it, but I read some comments when new Chinese lens manufacturers or company introduces new lenses for leica M mount and also other mounts 😅

The Elcan is just beautiful in size and in rendering. The 28s are great, can’t go wrong with either and is people can’t get over 2.8, they can get the ultron for a little more peanuts. 😂

    Enjoy all of your videos.
I recently saw a video on Kodak Vision cinamatic film used in some of the major movies. Skyler King (youtube) gives a review and how to obtain some for your 35mm camera. The video is titled "Getting the cinematic look in photography.'

good vid, but i don't understand how i just saw a vid saying someone is using nothing but iphone 15's to film an entire high budget movie, but your vid looks like it was shot on an iphone 2, maybe 3. i think you did something wrong.

A lot of people are disappointed the X100VI is made in China instead of Japan

If you asked the majority of x100v owners where it was made they would have no idea . Heck ask them where their phone was made same thing. A China stamp isn't going to effect pre-orders at all.
