Thank you for the detailed tutorial. The information here can be applied to other Kontakt VSTs. Just one thing : audio output on channel 1 and 2 works separately from other channels.// Stereo output 1 and 2 on Kontakt 6 doesn't freeze on Ableton.
this is a good video however you didnt talk about 1 very importnat step which is having to go into every track in the mixer in KONTAKT and changing each instrument track to the corresponding output.
In the mixer view, you click on each piece of the drum kit and on the right side there should be an output drop down. Make sure you close and open Kontakt after setting the outputs so that all of them are available for routing.
I was so absolutely ecstatic to get my roland drums working here. I am completely burnt on the routing process. Like linking the channels from Kontakt to your ableton . Can I compensate you for your time to help me with this by chance?
I believe this changed at some point in either an ableton update or kontakt update. You can route a single mono channel in from kontakt and then use the utility device on that track in ableton to make it a mono track.

You can. But the benefit of this is that you can use any third party plugin on each piece of the drum kit instead of only being able to process the kit as a whole. So if you have a certain plugin you like you use on your snare, you can do that. Instead of being limited to kontakt's effects and processing.
This video is a life saver

Yes I’ve seen this as well since upgrading to Kontakt 6!
Thanks for the video, but for some reason i don't see any signal in the list in Ableton
after 02:11 you forgot that after select "in" u wanna click above it where it says "Ext In" and change it to Kontakt

how do you do that?
Yes you are correct. Don’t know how I missed that step!

Thanks for the video, man! I have a problem, my post mixer does not appear in stereo like yours. What can I do? Thanks.
Yes, I have the same problem. I can only see single chanells (not Stereo) in the Live Port-In)

There is a way to fix this? I have the same problem. What did you do?
Is this doable with most drum vst's like Rigid Audio's Drum One, Spitfire Audio's Cinematic Percussion, or Thunder X3M taiko by Strezov Sampling?
It depends on the plug-in! I would say most don’t have this capability.
Im not getting the option to route the audio from Kontakt Drummer - only from the other audio channels within the project? any ideas
Yet another tutorial on this I follow to the T and doesn't work at all. I'm starting to think my Ableton or NI Komplete is bugged.
bro, same, this is like the 6th video I watched. Pls let me know if you were able to fix it.

Thing is when u write in midi from a vst in this way u still will have on piano roll the notes name, not the instruments parts, right?
In ableton you can record the input of each track so that you have audio stems. This would be the last step when you are done editing the midi
what are you sending to?
Im not sure i understand why you want to do this can't you just adjust the volume of each piece on one midi track????

that's one part that's not explained
