I am definitely gonna *donate* to this lady's Special Ed program she's doing a great job 💛 it's sad that there isn't a lot of special education schools in ghana
Native Bourne was exactly who i thought of as soon as i started watching this video...but i think i saw a video of theirs saying they were leaving Ghana because they could not find the necessary resources for their child. This was a great topic I’m sure it will help those to come.
Wow Uncle Tony you look great in that blue shirt. In Ghana there's no focus on disability. Each for himself God for us all. No wheel chair accessibility anywhere. Watching from Sydney Australia
Tip from a native African who’s also American: Whatever social amenities you don’t find in Africa, is a great opportunity for you to start them. Africa is the land of opportunities for anyone who does not mind to roll up their sleeves. Don’t go there looking for amenities , start them.
This actually brings to light an opportunity for people to invest in this branch and start more centers that support and educate people with disability. Africa is indeed the land of opportunity. We can do all things through God who strengthens us. Bless
you guys did a great job when it comes to finding a good Special Education teacher in GH thanks for the video because this is very important for anyone who has a special needs kid👍🏾👍🏾
Awesome interview Tony and Ayo... I'm so glad that Hope -setters are available because the diaspora that want to move to Ghana with children who has special needs, hope isn't loss! I'll be in Ghana next week and will definitely add Hope-setters to my list of places where I'm donating items/money!
I know Baaba, she started teaching Autistic children many years back, when my two special needs children;(one autistic and one cerebral palsy) attended AACT. She is kind and a lady with a lot of patience. I am so glad to see you in conversation with her
I'm crying my heart out because you made this video....A lot of us WANT to leave the West but know how hard it will be to live with out the aid of the supplies and programs they have here that support Special Needs children especially our children that are in wheelchairs... Its hard to go somewhere that doesn't have ramps or side walks for wheelchairs.. So those of us that want to, but can't, will live through your videos. Longing For the Mother Land. THANK YOU Sincerely
@essenceofebony0to9 -A very unfortunate truth. We will do our best to keep great content going out for those who won't make it here and thanks for the comment 😊!
I hope they’ll be able to expand on their services. Native Borne was the 1st channel I watched on people living in Ghana. They left a few years ago for a program for their son, in Asia. Maybe, Thailand. I think they decided to go back to the US the beginning of last year, I think.
Special education, teaching children with special needs, this is a beautiful humanitarian effort and I hope you are able to establish a broader National effort to reverse the way young people with disabilities are being neglected! GOD SPEED ❤️ 💻‼️
I love the videos and information you all provide it's truly phenomenal. My takeaway from not just this video but all of your videos, is if you are in America scraping the pot and you think that by moving to Africa you're going to live like a King, the answer is no. It's clear our money goes further but there are a lot of things that have to be paid that we as Americans generally wouldn't think about, i.e. school, so if your not getting that American check it's going to be a struggle over there and the sad part is you might run out of money to get a plane ticket to leave. I do have a question though how much is the tuition for autism school or a general amount?
@King KING -Generalizing all 55 countries of Africa is wrong. Every country is different. Not all African countries have the same issues so you need to be specific about Africa in that sense. You actually could live very well on $1000 USD/month here in Ghana. Tuition is based on case to case and thanks for the comment 😊!
Guys great program when I get to Ghana I will definitely try to stop by and get the information and see what I can do for this lady she's doing a wonderful job you two are doing a great job thank you
Great video but so disheartening. Seems like there needs to be a push for every child to have access to schools without having to pay , along with Individualized education plan/ programs for those with disabilities. It also takes a special type of person and commitment to teach special Ed children. To the instructor, thank you for caring.👍
I've just come across your channel and I've been binge watching your vlogs. This is my favourite one. I was born in Ghana I now live in the UK. I have 2 kids both om the spectrum one who is non verbal the other has been tested as highly gifted. It saddens me deeply that as a society we fail the very people who need us the most. It's not just in Ghana ors everywhere. Here in my area there is only 1 special needs school and over 20 ordinary schools! I lived in Tema for a year and went to Datus for a year, Team is the bomb I agree.
Baba Tony and Mama Ayo I hope you two are good? Education is for all whether they are normal, blind and disabled. Africans shouldn’t be prejudice even if the child is disabled, deaf or blind because they deserve an education. In my opinion also that education should be free for all, this is what our founding father, leader and hero Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah made it so essential.
This is so awesome! I'm saving this video so I can come back to it when I get back to the States (currently in Europe, but will one day spend some time in Africa long term).
They can make play though with four , salt and oil. Also , they can make corn four and water very therapeutic. I will see you Ayo when I move sooner by God's grace. Keep up the good work. 🙏🙏💝💝💝
Im so happy you have raised this subject im a parent of a special education needs child and he had a very good education here in the uk Its so important to be able to give this sort of education and so terribly needed This is a worthwhile cause and when im able i will be donating too Loved your joy and enthusiasm Ayo Thank you for another brilliant video
A blessed weekend to you both Ayo and Tony. I've enjoyed that reaching million with great content on a variety of different topic which valuable persons/individuals on health care, dentist, land and centres for individuals with disabilities vital facts, etc. Gratitude and huge thanks. Nuff respect!🤝💬💯📔🖋🕺💃🏾👀👏👏💖🇬🇭
Awesome information. I believe this is an opportunity you should explore Ayo. It definitely looks very promising n a well fulfilling venture. It's long overdue with all this awesome economic growth taking place in Ghana.
yes in USA and IEP/504 is wonderful, some schools in USA dont have the budget for 100% payment but no help at all is disheartening. Im TESOL Certified and bilingual. was thinking about adding Dyslexia training but a little tired, lol. I believe i gave them a school in South Africa for special education but i guess Native Borne made their family decision. TFS!
Actually, there are more than 5 autism schools within Accra alone that I have been to. I feel like the “special Ed” in Ghana is majorly focused on autistic and other physically differently abled children. Not much attention is given to children with mental issues, learning difficulties etc. and the attention is only given to kids between 2-16yrs. Meaning, if you have a kid who is beyond this ages, it’s difficult to get the help they need. And it’s even worse if they have learning difficulties (dyslexic , dyscalculia etc) . I’m in this dilemma with my ward! It breaks my heart that I am not able to get the help she needs. I only pray for God to help my family to send my ward to the US/Canada. I am frustrated.
Tony! That shirt though! If you were close I’d rip it right off you 🤣 Nice video y’all on a topic that often gets overlooked. Thanks for raising awareness 👌🏾👏🏾👍🏾
@Stefanos Smitty -You know you could just come and have my friend Jimmy make you one for about $25 USD right? No need in having a ripped shirt and a hospital bill and thanks for the comment 😊!
@expatlife are you a BCBA? You should consider providing consultancy services and training to schools to help them develop Special Education programmes.
Great video Tony and I owe are but unfortunately Gana still has a long way to go when it comes to children and adults who are living with disabilities. Gana has so many other things they need to sort out like building new roads healthcare infrastructure that I am afraid the need for special education, is completely overlooked unless it’s done by amazing women like the lady you interviewed. My parents regularly go to Gana and spend part of the year there I often think about emigrating there but no it would be impossible for me as I am visually impaired myself and find it very hard to navigate the streets of Accra on my own. In the UK I am very independent as we have an excellent public transportation system and pavements tube and train platforms are very accessible for the Blind and visually impaired not so at all in Gana unfortunately. Plus the hazards of open gutters and street obstructions it is literally not safe for a visually impaired person in Gana at all. I guess they just has to be more awareness about disability in Gana and it not looked on as a taboo subject, and not something to be ashamed of
Since there are approximately 20 -25 students, how about inviting your subscribers to adopt a child. Perhaps 1-5 people can be assigned to a particular child and their support can help cover the cost of a particular need that child has. This way people will feel more connected.
