Many people seem to be missing the larger picture. What’s being delivered is a canvas. The canvas in this case just happens to be much larger than the canvas from Pipe. Look at SkaterXL for example. It only seems complete (for pc users) in retrospect because of a thriving community of modders. I would say rejoice in this moments at the canvas finally being delivered. Go paint.
I completely agree, to a point. I feel like the unfortunate thing that’s happened is the canvas we were promised was a game. Not a larger version of pipe. This feels more like a free demo download before the actual release and that’s what I think people are frustrated with. Otherwise I feel in time it will get better with future updates and bug fixes so on so on. I’m hopeful for how it will end up.
And recently he dropped the price from $54.99 to $39.99. Super crazy morning.

You’ve done a fantastic job displaying how it’s reeeeally easy to get in this game and produce sketchy, non-realistic movements. I do believe a lot of this games “problems” can be fixed very easily, especially since the bike customization and map are so fantastic.

@@AndyS52 After more playing, i can agree that certain fixes are definitely going to be more difficult than others, however things like the input sluggishness, rocket manuals, and others could be fixed easier i'm sure

might be easy with a team dedicated to those things but as someone creating a passionate project i dont think he cares too much about problems that arent completely game breaking

Overpriced or not, the game is worth the it because your supporting the developer. Dudes been working on this game largely by himself for like 6 years. Maybe with the sales from this game he can hire more people and help out with the bugs and possible dlc's or community maps/built in mods
He made millions off of bmx pipe and he tools vacation instead of hiring people at that time... there is 0 excuse for this game to be this bad. He took the most tone deaf approach to the community it's crazy, it's almost like if he would have had a beta literal anywhere between the 8 years it was developed for this would be so much better. Dude had the game almost perfect with pipe and no you even have less tricks on an empty map dude sold us less than what we got with pipe for 5 times the price. I get to we waiting 8 years and don't want it to be bad but let's not be delusional

There's probably a lot to cover. Lots of positives and lots of negatives. I just hope that when you get used to this (and when we get some fixes. :D) it will be fun. The price is also quite high, but that's not the biggest problem. Let's just hope for the best.

Majority of the issues people seem to have is that expect pipe with better graphics.
In general the game feels smooth to me. Cool to do grinds and techy jibs as well as huge airs. Map seems a bit unfinished. Should have went for a smaler map
It reminds me of the first time I played SXL or Session, especially the latter took me like 10 hours to get decent at. I like the game so far, the grinds feel amazing. But there's defo jank and the manuals just don't feel good.
Imagine how long it’s gonna take him to update things in the game based on how long it took him to bring the game out 😂

Not sure what to think about it yet, there's things I love about it and some things I dont like but not gonna count it out yet, gonna put in the hours and see what happens. Hoping the modders can sort out some of the things that are needing fixed.
Just so you are aware. The missions have to be in the game otherwise steam doesn’t allow the game to be out on their store.

This game seems like such a waste of 7 years. They had the physics and feel almost perfect in Pipe. Just add the bike customization, some actual maps, better animations, etc. The fact they had the nerve to charge $55 is laughable, and the fact they just changed it to $40 shows they've realized. Even at $40, that's the same price as Helldivers. I understand if this is just their side gig, but damn, if they put more effort in, they might have a payday to match.

I disagree about Pipe having perfect physics. Flairs and stuff were jank af in Pipe. At least flips and spins feel pretty good in Streets but everything feels so goddamn heavy!

Waiting for the console release and I really hope they can fix some stuff by then. Not really sure I get why there have to be such open spaces for it to work well on console. Is it to buffer the more obstacle-rich areas..? I know games like this are more meant to play and feel nice than they are to look good, but right now it looks really bland and lifeless. Still looking forward to trying it, even though it's kinda putting me off right now.
The glitches and generally awkwardness is definitely a problem. That time trial thing however was definitely just you messing up😂

It would be nice to have a sandbox and story mode. Having to do all the challenges for the bike customization isn’t totally my jam either, i like doing some of them but def not all.

QUESTION why do i keep losing momentum after my jumps , i hit 40-44mph soon as i jump it drops dramatically and i can never make it over the gap , wondering what im doing wrong

the turning thing is the left foot right foot thing so change it then change it back and your good to go
that steering bug is to do with Stance, when you switch to left stance, restart game, it will go back to right stance and have that bug, you have to keep setting left stance after every restart
Would you agree this should be a version like point five instead of a full release? Like it feels like an early access title especially with how quickly he's been updating behind the scenes. Like had he waited a month and done a bunch more work or released it as an early access 25$ title, the response would have been more positive I think.

The game feels like a giant physics-testing beta :( My first thought is that Pipe felt unrealistic but SOLID. This one does not, really -at the moment- meaning that it does not feel like an improvement of the prequel. After 2h of gameplay I just hope it's me readjusting to the new gameplay mechanics... otherwise it has failed to do the one thing it focused on...
I didn’t play pipe because I had a feeling streets would be different, so I don’t have the whole “it’s not like pipe” mentality. However $79 au was ridiculous and put me off immediately, but after seeing the price drop I’m excited to give it a go.

I think the price is ok, people need to understand that this is 7 years of mashes life and you wanna say his work for 7 years isn't worth $50 that's wild , also the grind you did is an unlucky grind and it's not new it was in the old game

Found a way to fix the front tire issue. Change your stance back and forth and it fixes it. I think we play the game similar. Slow and tech/jibs. At first I completely hated it. But I’ve put about 12 hours in and it’s not so bad now I’ve gotten more used to it. But coming from pipe with 4K-5k hours this hurt after waiting 7 years. I can live with it for now but things do need to be fixed physics wise long before map stuff as I’m sure the mod community will do that part. I still can’t get my head around the pumping part. And some of the game really relies on that for challenges. Which I’m not a fan of. (Watched 30 more seconds and you figured out how to fix the tire issue 😂😂)
Also am I the only on the figure out there is a secret menu within the menu?

TIP: i find with the flips its easier to hold the LS forward or backward preloading the flip and then just tapping LT as you hit the lip of the ramp

the turning things something to do with nose manuals, the weird bike angle is the same position the bike goes into when you turn in a nosey, just with both wheels on the ground.

Personally they should have put the game in early access and put the price no more than $20, I genuinely think if they did that the game would be a banger and people would legit be excited for the future. Look at XL or Session(Yes they are skateboarding games but still the same concept) they both started out Early Access and it worked out pretty well for them. . . Side Note: Yes I think XL is overpriced, I personally feel bad for people that buy XL on console expecting what we have on pc, XL is to say the least not worth $40 in its current state but what im referring to is the early stages of XL and how they did it

So I’m still watching your video as I type but I have points that I find that I feel is over seen by the dev a touch. And I want to state now that your video was ace. I love how you are giving an honest opinion because it helps people like me who are new to the game.
My main issue, is it feels waaay too precise. To grind I have to line up perfectly. Like I’m playing on expert mode 24/7. There’s no help with people like me who haven’t played pipe or who haven’t played a tone of it. It feels the actual controls are really complex and not easy to understand off rip which these days people need due to the fact that peoples attention spans are shot.
I’d like to see an implement of control difficulties in the sense that similar to skate it would on “easy” snap a grind with absolute ease where as the pro sort of mode would be dead on all you as the player. So I reckon it needs to be more easily accessible for new people.
The amount of times I feel I’m going to get arthritis from smashing my A button to move is mental. It should just be ‘hold A and go’ not this button mash to get any sort of speed.
As you pointed out it is really janky in places. When I played the manual physics were shot and they look a lot better for you than me so I’m unsure on that one but it’s the one thing IRL that I love to do so seeing the game unable to do one hurts my soul.
Again back to controls, I cannot work out how the left trigger is for your right foot. As someone who’s slightly autistic and ADHD as hell, I kept on failing because it feels all backwards. Oh and when trying to get out of a bowl, I do not get it, it makes no sense. Why can’t I just push forward on the left stick to leave a bowl instead of not knowing how to even get out. And then if I can’t get out in my bike. God help me trying to run out of one. There needs to be a way of just easily getting out of a bowl or walk/run up a bowl or ramp.
Scenery and gameplay wise. The actual world looks brilliant. Hands down an amazing map with a lot of time and effort put into it. The one thing I would have liked to have seen is people. Be it civilians walking around or other AI riders at spots so it doesn’t feel so empty. For me that’s a big thing is the world feels very baron. And it’s just a shame.
And her comes the main sort of focus for me. The challenges. Sometimes, I feel a developer can become so accustom to their own controls and game that they will design challenges and not notice just how stupidly hard they are for people who have never played the game. I feel as if the game in its current state is more of a demo still because of how bloody hard it feels to do things. The challenges I don’t even want to do at the moment because of how difficult some of them are.
Final thoughts is that in its current game state it’s just not ready for a release. The dev should have released a version of this game as a demo 6 months ago so all these bug fixes and issues could be ironed out and fixed. So they could take all the fan reactions at face value and go “okay, let’s give the people what they want”. That way the actual release would have gone so smooth and not as negative.
I think the game is going to be great but not right now. From my perspective I’m leaving it 6 months or so then I’ll come back to it.

at abt 7:00 the steering angle acually makes sense at higher speeds, but low speed ist looks wrong
To me it being locked to a full sim feel takes aways. Some difficulty settings like turing off balance for grinds and Manual would open up the game i belive. And would allow more of a casual player experience for some. The price then having to deal with the skill level ceiling is turning people off i belive as well.
The world seems bland and reminds me of that abandoned rollerblading game On A Roll. Will buy tho BMX Pipe got me into BMX in real life so I have to pay respects

Online rythem racing (dirt jumps/urban lines/downhill sections of both) and simple session style time based runs where 1 player every round judges other players runs on a 1.0-10.0 and judge always switches every round tell me that wouldn’t be a cool online mode to play with friends
I’m in the minority on this, but I think most people were first pissed at the price. Then when it didn’t play like PIPE and they could land EVERYTHING first try, they complained about every little bug.
It’s not PIPE. It’s physics-based! Most of y’all have over 500h in PIPE. Some reviews had 1.5h of playtime and negative. Wtf did you learn in 1.5h?
Again, the price already had people thinking negative, so they returned the game before Steam took their HUGE $60.
The bugs IMO are small. Mods will come too! And most of y’all play Modded PIPE with tweaks to gravity, trick speed, etc.

I was so hyped about the game, even the price wasn't a huge issue for me. And I really liked the game actually. But I bought it for 54€, and now the price was dropped to 40€. This is liteally a scam, how can you even defend a developer now? It is a huge disappointment, despite the fact that I like the game. What i struggle with is they had a base game that needed a few tweaks, took that and made it worse then made a huge bland and frankly boring map, bits of which i feelt have been just lifted from other games (spillway from skate 3). I just fail to see 7 years of work from the devs

Falling and picking up bike is so lame. justz drop me on the bike after falling. and no: not to my marker, just right where i was falling. its so frustrating to hack multiple buttons just to get out of the lame animations. also the menu, the weird physics, falling on manuals, falling on turning the bike, falling by riding down a curb... holy shit
At first glance, it seems like most of the animations didn't get as much love as the legs have when you do tail whips. And it looks like there's hardly any compression in the legs when you land on flat. Some stuff looks good, and other stuff looks stiff.
Also surprised there's not a community center similar to the one in PIPE. Or maybe there is one and I just haven't seen it.. But it looks like it's going to rely heavily on mod maps.
Its been quite funny reading comments on various videos about how the price is justified. clearly commented by people who haven't played it yet. After spending 3 hours solid playing instead of working its comical hearing people defend the game and its price with all of these bugs, visual glitches and low polys.
Let me say this. All of you unhappy with the game being $55, you’ll have the game forever. remember the last time you spent more than that and only enjoyed that thing that same day. Shid even most meals @ restaurants are that price. The game will get updates. Mod maps. You name it. I think we were expecting something absolutely magnificent. Somehow Mash probably rushed the release because 95% of his comments are people CRYING and insulting him about the game not being out yet. Ungrateful.
yeah because if he just updated pipe with some mechanics it would be a better game than this. but its not really a big deal its just a game at the end of the day.
Unfortunately, it seems he has now lowered the price, putting the people who paid early in a somewhat unfortunate situation...(I was going to pay anyway so I don't mind, but not entirely fair on people who are struggling to pay in the first place)

i played 40 minutes and will be requesting a refund. completely unplayable. steering/pedaling is so bad. manuals/pivots are broken. not being able to hold triggers and flick once for tailwhips etc is frustrating. menus/UI is terrible, making you hold buttons to do anything for no reason instead of just a single press. all around a massive headache and really no fun

... what's getting to me is just _how_ sterile the world is. There's no sign that any living organism has ever sat foot or wing into the world. No birds, no grime, no junk, no paper scraps floating by, no graffiti or tags (past the Spillway area), no advertisements, nothing. The atmosphere of a morgue, from inside the refrigerated coffin boxes. I don't think I will want to _be_ there :(

Sadly it was too little too late. City is pretty lifeless and boring to just ride and hit spots with nothing going on around you.
