I remember seeing Avatar at the opening midnight showing in IMAX 3D. The entire theater had been decorated with trees and vines and plants to look like Pandora. The IMAX had been calibrated specifically for the film. Sold out theater. Then some reps from the IMAX and film industry asked us to stay after to discuss the film, and then asked everyone if they were ready to see the most expensive motion picture ever made, the audience went crazy. It was like being at a sports event. Then they did a countdown from 10. Such an unforgettable movie going experience.

This movie hits me hard no matter you like it or not.
The fact that it didn’t feel like 3 hours, that’s how you know the visuals are something else. It was the kind of beautiful that made me emotional, perhaps it was my inner child, but the need of fantasy, the need for an escape from the mundane was fully satisfied, after more than a decade of waiting, finally experiencing something you’ve been wanting to since you were 12, now 24- of course it had me tearing up even at happy scenes !! I work for one of the studios that put a lot of heavy work on this film. Lots of crazy overtime, on average some will work 56-70hours. Very tight weekly deadlines, the stress levels were high, and the technical challenges for the motion editors, animators and VFX people in general were many. But seeing it all come together into this incredible master piece makes it all worth it. We hope everyone enjoys it. I cannot wait to see this movie!
EDIT: Besides the intense amount of work, there was also ALOT of fun stuff in the production of this film. Working in the film/Vfx can be fun and gives you new challenges and different ways to upskill and keep getting better.
And for those who are asking about the story....Let me just say, the movie is 3hours long, it's going to move you, it's going to touch you and it's going to blow your mind ;)

@@pierremalak4641 😂
Ikr idk y people were hating on it for being very late.
The story is basic
The movie is terrible. Completely style over substance. Massive logic flaws, way too long. Spoilers from here on: First of all, it makes no sense at all for Sully and his family to leave their tribe, who have been fighting the humans for atleast a year by that time and have gathered experience, training and modern weapons. It's not like they will stop fighting the humans or the humans will stop hunting them, so they're in the same danger wheter Sully and his family are with them or not. By leaving them, Sully actually endangers them more than he would if he would stay, because he leaves them with an inexperienced leader to fight in his place (he says so himself). The "children playing in the water" sequences were mostly unneccessary, I'd say atleast 2/3rd of these sequences should have been cut. And the death of the oldest son was probably one of the worst death scenes I've seen in a movie for a long time (comparable to an 80s c-level action movie). First of all, the wound he got would have been fatal immediately (shot through the heart and his spine, and yes, Navi have their heart there too, as can be seen from the "control your heartbeat to breathe" sequence a few hours earlier), and even if it wasn't, he wouldn't have been able to walk with the severed spine. And even if that wouldn't have been the case, the whole sequence was so, so bad, entirely cliche. And lastly, the little mesiah story was way too much on the nose (the "virgin birth" of a girl with special powers...). If I'm generous, I'd give it a 3/10, and that's very generous. It's basically a tech demo for how good the crew is able to animate water.
@@MyRegardsToTheDodo miserable take imo. If that’s how you see it then that kinda sucks for you lol. Pretty sure Jake was trying to get his family to leave the tribe after his sons got themselves in trouble in the train sequence and then when Quaritch literally had his kids. Id say it was shocking to them that Quaritch was back first off and then he was threatening the Sully family directly. Seems like a decent reason. It didn’t end up being the correct move for them seeing how things play out because Jake was acting out of fear a lot of the movie and running from his past sins. Those sins have fallen on his sons. Jake running from being Toruk Makto was a mistake and part of what led to his sons death. Or did you miss that?? Nitpicking the Neteyam’s death and like the time it took him to die is absolutely hilarious to me. Like it’s a movie… about blue aliens… and you’re complaining about how realistic the death compared to the wound was or something? Which is fine but it’s hilarious to do. I couldn’t care less if you like the movie or not, but I think to say it’s “terrible” is objectively not true even tho the art of film is extremely subjective. Also idrc if the visual effects are indulgent or whatever, I thought trying to innovate new technologies and push the boundaries in film was a good thing lmao, I’ve never understood that pov on the internet. The movie isn’t perfect, like most all movies. The story was pretty straight forward but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s what you make it. Idk it was refreshing for me to see an action blockbuster without a superhero and the end was a very personal conflict and not some generic army clash bs. To each their own.
1 thing that I loved about Avatar 1 was the implication of intricate ecosystems of virtual creatures. I'm seeing so many more creatures just from these shots. They didn't have to add that many variety of underwater plants and sunfish-like creatures, but they did. It's obvious that they recognize that strength from the first movie. I am already satisfied. Just put a bunch of shot of the Navi people playing around with whales and other animals, and I'll be immensely satisfied.
@@IndenturedUA-camSlave Far more than that. There's going to be 5 movies, so I would expect a lot of content in each 3-hour movie. Unlike Ferngully, Avatar has an entirely original worldbuilding.
What I liked about Avatar was that it cured my insomnia. It was boring, preachy, and predictable.
@@IndenturedUA-camSlave Mhm. Fairies. Mhm. Such a groundbreaking, original movie. Here's a fun fact for you; before Disney's Pocahontas came out, Cameron was actually AHEAD of them with the story. Say whaaaat?!

@Boo I doubt they’d pour in hundreds and hundreds of millions and give an unfinished product. Everyone wants to make as most as possible
I agree it’ll look beautiful
Nothing else
God...what a film ! I'm watching it with my son 12. A real roller-coaster...feelgood... emotional ,gripping...why have I never seen this before
He will prolly be in college by the time the fire Navi come out lol
This movie made me speechless.
I loved the underwater scenes so much!!!! It was truly amazing. The water effects.
It literally made me want to live underwater and even become diver :D
Really loved the movie, it has been very long time since the first avatar movie.
I’ve waited 13 years for this movie, this movie was an Adhd obsession when I was 9-11, I was hooked from the first trailer, watched it in theaters in 3D and my parents bought me the Survival Guide to Pandora and every action figure. I would watch the movie over and over again, I knew every line, every character by name. I trotted my Leonoptrix through elementary like I was the coolest kid. When I tell you this came up a few months back, actual new visuals, new storyline, new characters, I jumped screamed and started crying. I am so very excited, plus James Cameron sequels are always known to be the best.
I hope you've seen the Collector's Cut of Avatar! :)
But did you ever play the game 👀
@@eliasstudios3352 how was that game
@@eliasstudios3352 she wasn’t that dedicated lol
@@lil_cali714___ kept me entertained when I was first learning how to play video games on consoles 😂😂 honestly was fun. Could play in either the Naavi and human perspectives depending on how you wanted your campaign to be. Being a human sucked 😂
i watched the first one in theaters as a 9 year old kid and i was absolutely amazed with the whole world of pandora and now i’m 22 and i’m ready for this masterpiece
Same 😁
Looks shit
I remember watching this as a kid thought it was The Last Airbender
How does that work? Avatar was released 2009?
@@BlackyMox Yes? why you confused
This franchise… is our fortress
It was really worth the wait... perfect acting and perfect cast
I've waited more than a decade for this. Gave me chills.
@Wes Jones righr
Get A Life.
You've waited a decade for a sequel to a movie that has a very basic plot and was only successful due to its 3D gimmick?
@Wes Jones as if original plots exist at this point. The same stories have been told for thousands of years.
with how long theyve had to work on it, not impressed tbh
We miss you Neteyam warrior brother
It is incredible how the actors took 10 years to finally live underwater, it seems incredible to me and it really deserved an Oscar
Huh?
To the two replies above me: whooooooosh
Edit: Dang, looks like second replier deleted their comment, but they said something like "How can it deserve an Oscar if the movie hasn't even come out yet?"
I was 12 when I saw the one in IMAX. 25 now

Where did you watch it? Possible site
I kept myself strong the whole movie and then the end came and it broke me. I didn't expect to like the second part more than the first one but god damn
@@hristian33 It's was average movie at best, people are deluded by the Avatar hype. I saw the movie and it had basically the same plot, lot of old lines from the first that made little sense.
It was like the whole movie was a shout out to the first movie and referensing the first one all the time.
I'm not an average movie goer so I need something more stimulating than great visuals which it is. If you love great visuals and 3D this is a movie for you.
If you enjoy great stories however this will feel like a movie you already seen though. So not very impressed with a story they had 13 years to work on.
But the visuals are good I guess.
@@gustaf3811 i do understand where you come from. Just like you said, you're not an average movie enjoyer. But for me, I'm someone who barely watches any movies and this was a great experience for me. I do understand what you mean with the story being repeated. I noticed some things too but I still loved it.
@@sihembenakouche3426 123movie (it’s site that has a lot of movies.) I first watched Avatar in the theaters though so not sure if it’s there but whatever.
What a movie. I never experienced like this ❤
This film made me cry so much. While sacrifice and death continues in this movie, you can always turn to love. 10/10 I would recommend.
I want to thank the CGI team for making this a stunning masterpiece. I can tell this took a painful amount of time to make this look so breathtakingly amazing. You guys must be proud of your work. Thank you so much!! 💙💙💙
Great to see Aussie actor Sam Worthington is coming back as Jake since his first Avatar role years ago.
Also good to see Sigourney Weaver is also returning for her next role in Avatar The Way of the Water along with Zoe Saldana and Kate Winslet since her previous role in James Cameron's Titanic.
I've already enjoyed the first Avatar film and definitely can't wait to see Avatar The Way of the Water when it opens in cinemas next month.
Rings of Power has much better CGI
woah there, the final product isnt out yet. lol. it can still be a total disaster.

I was 10 when I saw the original in theaters. Instantly fell in love with it and have been following the sequel development ever since. Now I'm 23 and it's finally here after 13 years of development hell.
You must be so happy! I'm a new fan and I'm so hyped rn.
I don't think it was development hell that held this up so long. I think that Cameron was waiting for technology to catch up to his vision. Looking forward to it....
Now, read my name 😂
Watch The Critical Drinker/ Development Hell.
Those stories will give you nightmares. Like The Abyss.
@@GomiSimpington So was I when the original released, blew me away when I saw it and I can't wait to see this one.
Now we have to wait until May 2025 to see the teaser trailer for Avatar 3 and the official trailer in November 2025 and by December to see the movie and end another waiting cycle.
Hope it's gonna be October 2025 when the Official Trailer arrives and April the teaser. It would be cool at least an early teaser next year, how it was more than one year before The Force Awakens.
I hate that Disney bought Fox. At this point, I wish Cameron and Arnold bought the studio
I really love this film, I watched Avatar 1 more than 4 times, and 2 times for Avatar 2. Because I actually wanna join to the live there, so freshhh
I remember when I watched the first film and I was just 11 years old. Now I'm 24 and it still feels like I watched the first film like it was yesterday. Can't wait to see this one as it seems like they vastly improved the CGI I never thought could be surpassed, even after all these years!

I'll never forget the feeling from watching the first Avatar. It was the first 3D movie I saw and it still holds a special place in my heart all these years later. Thank you James Cameron I can't wait for the new film.
Pretty much the best 3D movie ever made. Remember at the cinema it had special ‘wrap around’ edges to the screen - not flat to the back, so that the scenes for example in the space ship pods, it enveloped the audience and you looked left and right! Pure genius
My first 3D movie too. I gave up on 3D movies cause no other movie felt like Avatar.
Same here.. first movie in 3d Avatar
@@FirstBran One of the main reasons for that is that studios in their typical effort to cut costs, stopped shooting 3D movies with actual 3D Cameras and opted to have them blown up to 3D in post instead.
That DOES make a difference. It's hard to put your finger on it, but it has something to do with composition.
Me too, my friend. İt will be incredible

Can we get a round of applause to all the amazing talented VFX artist who put their heart and soul into these movies for us? I can say as a moderately knowledgeable 3D artist that the skill and dedication required to pull of something of this magnitude is truly out of this world, and the film reflects that perfectly. I am in awe!!!
Water and particle sim looks great. Wonder what kind of hardware used, and render time. Maybe they finished filming 8 years ago, rest is rendering... xD

this is a movie that deserves to be watched in IMAX for those who were too young or did not watch the first avatar!!! it's stunning.
Or in a regular movie theater
I'm really hoping that after a few weeks of being in theaters not many people will go to watch it so that my family and I can go watch it in theaters.. that's the only way we've been able to go to the movies because we're all high risk to covid lol

Avatar: The Way of Water is not a movie, it's an ART.
Watched the film first day first show. Been waiting for 13 years. It was worth the wait. The first half was like Blue Planet BBC documentary, thought that David Attenborough would come at any moment. The second half was another level. Sobbing, sitting at the edge of the seat and marvelling at James Cameron's way of story telling. Visual effects made the entire MCU look like cupcakes. Speechless❤️
Bro same. The other half of the movie I was getting anxiety. Best movie of the Decade! Hands down. 10/10.
