- Playing Mario Kart 64 on MacBook Pro 13" with Dell Ultrasharp U2311H 23" Wide 16:9 monitor. The emulator used is sixtyforce, v0.9.5 b1 for Mac OS X.
The movie was filmed with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 at HD-720p.
I think the game runs at 1440x1080 with higher quality textures, which is nice on a large monitor like this and the graphics is better than in the old days! The old consoles resolution at 640x480 would be a pain in the ass!
The controller is an original Nintendo Wii Classic Controller used with a Mayflash Wii Classic Controller 2 USB adapter.
System specs:
MacBook Pro 13" 2,53 GHz Intel Core2Duo
Dell UltraSharp U2311H 23" 16:9 FullHD 1920x1080p IPS monitor
4 GB RAM
500 GB HDD
Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4 - Розваги
Hey, one question, does the Mayflash thing work well with 2 controllers connected? Sixty force identifies them as if there were just two gamepad plugged into two different USB ports? thanks!
@virtualize00 Also, one funny thing is that this cheap $300 IPS monitor outperforms the previous $3000 Apple Cinema Display 30" (crappy TN panels, not IPS) we have in school for editing in almost every way except for maxresolution. But certainly in color accuracy, viewing angle etc. You could call this display a cheap alternative to much more expensive color accurate IPS monitors such as Apple's new 27" CinemaDisplay.
@virtualize00 I've played through CoD: MW, MW2 and Bad Company 2 without noticing any delays. I also watch movies all the time (1080p, 720p, DVD) and do a lot of stil and motion photography editing in Photoshop/Final Cut Pro/Apple Color/After Effects. I can do nothing but praise the screen for it's accurate performance and I think it performs better than the already awesome screen in the 13" MacBook Pros.
The UltraSharp has two digital inputs. DVI and DisplayPort. The MacBook Pro has one output - Mini DisplayPort. There are many different ways to connect the two, with either adapters or just cables or both:
Computer -> Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI -> HDMI-to-DVI -> Screen
Computer -> Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI -> Screen
Computer -> Mini DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort -> Screen
I chose the last option, with a great little cable. No adapter. Just a cable. Product ID: 6006 on MonoPrice . com
@joscar693 To pair your MacBook with your PS3 controller:
1. Turn your Bluetooth ON
2. Plug your PS3 controller through USB to your MacBook
3. Unplug your PS3 controller through USB from your MacBook
4. Press the PS button and wait a couple of seconds
5. You're done!
6. Maybe configure your game/emulator with the correct joystick keys
7. You're definitely done!
I saw on the website that Mayflash Classic Controller 2 USB adapter works only on windows. Where you found drivers for mac osx?
@MiniclipTV 1) Download a emulator for your computer
2) Get a joystick and plug it into your computer
3) Download a ROM of a game you want to play
4) Start the emulator and configure the joystick
5) Load the ROM and play the game
@Toddcraft I've watched top gear a million times already on this monitor, and even with all their fast & "jumpy" camera panning I can't see any ghosting. It's a very well made monitor. The best one I've ever had. Maybe even better than on my macbook pro?
His wii is hooked up to the TV with the macbook connected but not running the game. you can tell because the little white light in bottom right corner is not blinking which it should be if the mac was powered on.
@elmnt61 Not on Mac. On Windows it does exactly what you're saying, but on Mac you can only use one Wii Classic Controller _per_ Mayflash adapter. I've e-mailed Mayflash about a driver update or something but they don't care.
Is there any way to use the sticks in the wii classic controller pro on sixtyforce using it via bluetooth with darwin remote??. Any advice on this, please?? i'm on a macbook pro with mountain lion.
My MBP is not actually in sleep-mode. I just turned down the screen-brightness to zero (with the F1 key).
If you want to close the lid but still use the computer, try "InsomniaX". Google it.
@hassoow93 I use a Mini DisplayPort to Display Port cable from monoprice. com. Plugs straight into the monitor. If you have an HDMI monitor you can get a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable instead.
@Superabound1013 For the movies and games I've tried it with (CoD: MW, MW2, Bad Company and Playstation/Nintendo emulators) it's perfect. But it's especially good with images and work in Photoshop.
@cash023tube The controller is plugged in to a Mayflash Classic Controller-to-USB-adapter, which in turn is connected into the Dell monitors USB hub, which in turn is connected to the MacBook Pro.
@thekarmapolice1 If you let the game choose randomly I don't think you will. But you can just press "Z" and it will chose the item currently shown. If you're good at that, you can get any item you want.
@joscar693 Just buy it in any store. Even better is the PS3 wireless controller. It's easy to install, just google it. and you don't need to get the MayFlash Adapter. And it's wireless.
@twartalski Only works with one controller on Mac... Fucking Mayflash. Either buy two adapters or buy something else I guess. The best solution would be two PS3 controllers via bluetooth.
@Hilokilo06 A lot of games these days are too complicated and sometimes too realistic. A lot of people appreciate the simplicity of Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Final Fantasy etc.
@daowenster Are you trolling? It's a MacBook Pro 13" with Mac OS X 10.6.4 running the emulator sixtyforce v0.9.5 beta 1 and a rom of Mario Kart 64.
No wii, nothing.
@BEFEGE There are two buttons on the keyboard for increasing and decreasing the LCD brightness. Just turn it all the way down and the screen will turn off fully.
@notsofunnytv98 In sixtyforce, go to "sixtyforce" in the top menu and "Configure Controllers". There you can configure the keyboard as a controller.
@angel1745123456789 You buy a MacBook to do a lot of things. Edit pictures, videos, do school or work tasks etc. To be able to play games is just a bonus.
@NeonzNL It's a Dell U2311H computer screen but you can hook it up to a digital-box or gaming console if you want and use it as a TV as well.
@sebastianmandrean - Maybe you should have put the adapter within view of the camera, so people like Daowenster wouldn't think it was "fake."
Just plug and play. But there are software for joypad mapping if you need it, e.g. "Joystick Mapper" for Mac or ControllerMate for Windows.
@sebastianmandrean I aint trollin !! :P I've just never seen it done before and assumed that there was no way to put it on a computer !!!
@DeathmaskDiseased I'm not 100 % sure, but I think I set my external to be my main screen (in Mac OS X System Preferences).
@daowenster I'm tipping from one of these and i can tell it only blinks when its closed and not of ^^
did you use any software to map the keys (other than sixtyforce) or was it just plug and go?
@TubbiestPieMan Escape on the keyboard, then quit the emulator. Or Command+Q on the keyboard.
@daowenster - They exist, look for it on Ebay. "Mayflash Wii Classic Controller USB Adapter."
well i dont even have the wii classic controller, so how do i do it on the mac keyboard
How do you configure a classic controller to work with Photoshop?
how do you drive with the key board. I cant figuare it out. please help me
@sebastianmandrean Ah, yea that sucks I guess. Oh well :)
It's all in the description! Nothing else was used. Just plug and play.
no way you should get lighting in second place. just saying lol.
@jupe2797 With a Mayflash Classic Controller 2 USB adapter. :)
Need serial for this version. Anyone in the Holiday spirit?
@WastingTimeOnY0uTube
..........?
Dell Ultrasharp U2311H
@sebasiglesias15 Yes. Almost every game at full speed.
how did u hook up the classic controller to ur mac book
@metalrocker68 Yes. Just use any N64-to-USB-adapter
Hi , Great Video, Can you tell me where to get these controllers and how did you hook this whole system up, Thanks
Hi,
The controller is a regular "Wii Classic Controller". Then I used a "Mayflash Wii Classic Controller to USB adapter" to connect it to my MacBook.
The computer runs a N64 emulator for Mac (sixtyforce), but if you have Windows you can use something like Project64 or Muppen64plus. Good luck!
The computer screen looks a like a tv screen...
@weLeb14 Google: wii classic controller to usb
how to plug in classic controller?
@xmsxemox With the keyboard, then.
When i play PES 2011 it lags ok
@ScoobySport91 Of course.
how do you quit the game?
:D freak !
