Despite Naveen Patnaik’s advanced age related issues, he still enjoys massive popularity among the masses. But majority of the same Naveen-BJD supporters hate Pandian to the core. They see him as an outsider and usurper. Even BJD leaders detest him behind closed doors.
BJP has cleverly made this election about Odia “asmita” because it does strike a chord with the common man.
Even if BJD wins the assembly elections, mark my words, Pandian’s days at the top are numbered.

@nagraj2k1 yes bcz Mgr and rajnikanth couldn't speak tamil, went to the state as an IAS officer, became a political party functionary while serving as an active bureaucrat and then in less than a decade in some mysterious way rose to become the 2nd most powerful politician without ever fighting an election.
The biggest reason is that the BJP knows it looks competent only when compared to Congress. If honest and hardworking people join regional parties and set a standard for development, people will realise what BJP has done is not special.

Problem with BJP has been the recruitment of fringe elements into the party. Almost all rejects from BJD that have joined the party are no populars. When it comes to Pandian and opponent Aparajita Sarangi the difference in conduct is quite evident between two although both are ex bureaucrats. One of them uses distasteful language to target the opponent all the time and most Odias dont like that.There is a huge gap in connecting with people from BJP as well. Except for Sambit Patra non of the BJP leaders have connected with their local constituencies. It is going to be a great opportunity miss for BJP for sure this time.

The role of vk pandian is surprising
Rishi Sunak being UK PM. Everyone attempting to claim his Indian roots and proudly say Indian ruling UK . But VK Pandian raising to the status to be very close to CM and may be in the line. Immediately everyone targets his roots saying Tamil should not be ruling Odisha. Modi had K.Kailashnathan IAS who is a tamil guy to build effective plans in Gujarat and at some point even after the IAS retirement Modi extended his tenure in Gujarat as Chief Principal secretary. Magazines wrote it's KK who run the government and he is a Tamil guy. What is wrong in contesting elections from anywhere throughout the territory of India? Why should someone’s origins be an impediment ? If he has the mandate of the people of Odhisa it is absolutely fine.

In odisha bjp can never be a formidable force for the given reasons
1. Odisha lands the highest number of pvtgs i.e 13 , 22%of tribal population.
This are then not a monolithic homogeneous vote bank to get and there is no bsp or dalit identity party in odisha to dent in this vote bank.
Bjd has alwayz been able to galvanise these voters into them due to better implementation of pesa, fra 2006, community rights under wpa 1972 .
Giving msp for millet as well as ntfp.
2. The regional diversity submerge under a single feeling of love for odisha ,even the muslim harmony is one to be given example .
Cuttack and bhadrak stands as the testament to this fact.
Every 4th and 5 th generation muslim identity themselves as odia first.

Naveen Patnaik is a gentleman politician, he never plays dirty politics, divisive politics or foul game. He never attacks any opponent with derogatory remarks. He has done very good work in odisha..Odisha, once popular as a poor state now is known for sponsoring hockey, mission Shakti, improvement connectivity, infrastructure development, disaster management etc. Mr pandian is also behind the implementation of 5T initiative. Attaching honourable CM and his aide with such strong words is shameful..at least a national party with famous leaders should stay at a distance from doing this..They are making their level down in the eyes of the people. While they can't appreciate the progress made by odisha under this government, bashing it unnecessarily doesn't create any good impression.
