As a sanji fan i understand Oda being able to use him in a unique way that others cant be used.
I dont however understand Toei being so clearly biased. Oda already balances out sanjis nature cool vs goofy but toei takes out some of his cool moments which dimishes his character.
Toei can add stuff to add to the story to clear things up but when you remove content from the story its disrespectful to fans and Oda's story

Na the Edison moment was pretty bad. In the manga that’s one of the best speed feats we’ve seen in the series. In the anime u barely even see sanji saving Edison and outspending an already shot laser.

Animators definately have Zorro agenda. On rooftop in the manga kid and law pushed bigmom off the island into the sea but in the anime Zorro cut off the cliff, pushing her off the island. They basicly took kid and laws feat and ave it to zoro which is isane but hey you aint gonna catch zorro fans complaining. The official one piece twitter account even made a 1 hour loop of Sshark tossing Sanji.

Honestly I feel like the main issue with the whole Sanji thing is that a lot of them end up often disappointed because they keep trying to force Sanji to be like Zoro. They are two completely different characters and different archetypes, so the scenes and moments they get are different. People wouldn’t be in their feelings so much if they weren’t constantly comparing Sanji to Zoro, and trying to 1-up Zoro fans every time Sanji gets a good moment. Like imagine watching Yu Yu Hakisho and getting mad cause Kwabara doesn’t get as many hype moments as Hei, shoot imagine watching Hunter x Hunter and being upset that leorio doesn’t get as hype of moments as kuripika or killua, and I can keep going.
Some people just have to come to terms that Zoro archetype is the badass, cool, and strong combatant on the crew. Sanji on the other hand is more of a comic relief perverse character. Shoot even Mineta in my hero gets his cool moments and times to shine, but comparing him to Krishima (red riot) for example is a losing battle cause the characters fulfill different roles

Personally reading through the chapter the 1st time I took it as Zoro being surprised at Sanji but not with the implication of "SANJI'S SO MUCH FASTER". Like it was to show Sanji being fast but not Zoro being slow. Now I do think there is an argument for Sanji being faster than Zoro but this was NOT a good place to argue that.

I swear people are so obsessed with stuff like this. When I read that scene in the manga, I only thought about how Zoro and Sanji did their jobs. I love them as characters. And that's it. And also saying TOEI is biased against Sanji is beyond stupid. Look at the absolute Sauce they gave Sanji against Queen in EPI 1061 or how Sanji fought King and Queen simultaneously in the anime; it looked so good.
They also made Zoro skywalk in his fight against Kaku and had S-Shark throw Sanji against a wall like a scrub.
Also 1062 is arguably a Top 3 animated episode of One Piece, but they made King look INSANE.
In the manga he made ONE Dragon, in the anime they made him create like 10+ and had Zoro and King clashing like Yonko.
@@czar17_28 Zoro can use his swords to do a skywalk basically, so I don't know why it's so crazy that he can do at least one normal skyjump at this point in the story. Plenty of people who are fodder at this point can do multiple skywalks in a row. Zoro doesn't do it because it's not his fighting style. And then the S-Shark thing did nothing to hurt Sanji and TOEI have also done Zoro wrong before. They straight-up erased a named attack that Zoro did in the manga against King and didn't do it in the anime. It was before episode 1062. Somewhere 1058 or 1059.

Sanji getting ragdolled randomly at the end of the fight didn't happen. But Sanji's non-canon addition is not flattering.
It's not that the Zoro gas is problematic. It's just clear that animators like to animate Zoro. Sanji is under him and priority and you can clearly see a bias. It's honestly just a small section within animators.

Just pulled the video up - so you might mention this - but the Anime also called Sanji the "wings" of the pirate king rather than one of the wings.
Official English Manga uses an incorrect name for Zoro. etc.
But yea, I'd argue that the anime studio favors Zoro, but honestly? I think Oda does too. I think originally his "3 triggers" were his focus (Luffy, Zoro, Nami) - and as time has went on, Sanji has gotten more shine (he had a whole arc centered around him), but it still feels like - to me - that Oda favors Luffy and Zoro specifically. And it makes sense: Zoro has been a character design that Oda used MULTIPLE times for his various one-shots. And Luffy was the character he'd always want to write.
Sanji, however, is bar none perhaps the best written character in the entire story though. And yea, that's including his perv-tendencies and his gags. He has the most depth, and most complexity on an individual story basis.
I tend to see the problems with fans via 2 things though:
1. Some fans want Zoro to be THE main character
and
2. Some fans want Sanji to be Zoro
Those two gives you the source of the most toxic fans in my opinion.

Even if Zoro was reacting to Sanji in the manga panel it makes way more sense for it to be like "Oh, you're here" (you know, cause they had been separated for multiple chapters) than a power scaling thing.
And at the end of the day in both versions Sanji outran the laser (or blocked I guess if it's meant to be foreshadowing for the Kizaru moment later), how long he takes to bring Edison down afterwards is irrelevant in regards to the actual feat.
I think it could be he eas surprised but not in a "oh my god I can't comprehend that speed ahhhhh" way but in a "oh wow that fast , I did NOT expect such speed"

Star vs stars could be a translation thing since Japanese doesn't really have a plural form like that (there are instances where you can make things plural but usually it is up to context)
I been watching and reading one piece for over a decade and I’ve never realized how much people care about zoro v sanji. I just tend to enjoy the adventure for what it is.
2:05 the line is the same in both the manga and the anime, the difference is in translation. Japanese has no plurals so you have to either guess or use context clues to know whether it's meant to be "stars" or "star".

The issue i had with it is the fact of how they had Sanji look when he saved Edison, they had him using the boots and not just speed saving him, and like you said they had him coming in way after the explosion. For the Zoro reaction part they did that completely correct, Zoro was not saying "hm" to Sanji cause he was behind him, he was saying "hm" because S-Hawk or the seraphim stopped fighting. Zoro also wasnt even looking at him, so idk why people are mad or confused cause they did the part the same in the anime as in the manga.
I mean Zoro is not only the Japanese crew member but was the oldest one piece character in a sense. Dude was essentially a ryuma clone in looks and as we know Wanted came before one piece.

Oda definitely treats Zoro better than Sanji. Zoro and Sanji are 2 characters with similar status and power in the verse. However, when it’s time to prove a point and show a characters strength, Sanji will be used as the punching bag, while Zoro is just there. Sanji exists to show the competence and strength of other characters and because Oda doesn’t want Zoro to look bad, so by putting Sanji in the situation he basically helps you arrive at the conclusion that __ character is above the level of Sanji and Zoro by default.
This is simply untrue and cope from sanji fans.
Before I’m called a Sanji hater Sanji is at times comparable to Zoro. But more than often Zoro is clearly superior. Showing Sanji lose to an opponent does not mean Zoro would also lose to the same opponent.
Take arlong for example. Arlong no diffed Sanji and yet was terried of Zoro because he knew Zoro was heavily nerfed due to his injuries. Implying that Zoro would do well against arlong if he wasn’t already on deaths door. There’s plenty of instances of that in the series.
So...those 5 arrows that usually depict "grabbing attention"...right after the TAP....is not towards Sanji..huh?..

In terms of black beard sweating for s hawk, I think it could be the case where he is sweating because he knows the implication of seeing a mihawk clone that’s dark skinned with wings. I think black beard understood what he was looking more then was being scared at s hawk.
oda always protects zoro..he used this arc to give the new gen a wake up call. Law vs bb, kid vs shanks, sabo vs imu, koby in hachinosu, sanji vs saturn, it show them they had they were not there yet. Then zoro.... Instead of making zoro lose he used robo lucci so that they will go toe to toe and show us that he aint there yet. He always has ways to make zoro take Ls and always give the fandom a coping mechanism. The same with the rooftop where he obviously wasnt ready for the yonko fight. But still gave him cool scenes to take him out of it without hurting his presence.. made kaido dodge even tho the attackt later on landed and did nothing, made zoro briefly stop bm and kaido attackt even tho he almost died and got saved by law and ultimately didnt accomplish anything since Law still had to save everyone
Sanji has his moments, it’s just he is used to deem opponents a serious threat, once you make him struggle then we may the enemy seriously when they contend with one of our big 3

The pureness of what he wants from his dream being a legend where all Seas meet actually being a misinterpreted warning of the inevitability of the flooding of the world and the end of days. Make it make sense to me if he didn’t notice why seraphim stop fighting and they stop fighting when sanji shows up and zoro doesn’t know why they stop fighting why is this not involving sanji.
I feel like this explains why Manga die hards hate the anime. I feel like with Manga 90-95% is set. But occasionally you can see it differently while the anime shows all so you can't imagine it perfectly how you wanted it.
Anime also loves to change the feel the scene had. Best, and over talked example is kamazou fight that was changed from tough and pretty stand off encounter that was meant to be 99% tension into Zoro slicing everything into cubes, for some reason. He was supposed to struggle there for multiple reasons, not dominate, especially as hard as he did.
And scenes like that are more common than you think, so anime really DOESN'T feel like they get what Oda was going for. Unless we want to admit that Oda sucks at presenting that to us?

Animators are bias, and most likely not even in their own free will. Studio knows which characters are more widely popular and apply more fanservice to them.
Studio knows that the ratio of chapters adapted per episode is not sustainable and so almost every single climatic quick attack is turned into contest of strength.

Thing Robin vs Black Maria was the best episode, but Zoro vs King was nice to especially the lava hydra vs Zoro.
Anime definitely does Zoro nicer than Sanji but that is always going to be the case since Zoro is generally written as the cooler character.

I don’t see any of that as evidence of zoro going hmm at the seraphim. Look to the right of zoros head at the sound fx. Its on the side sanji lands. 100% his speed surprised him.

I never read the scene as Sanji speed blitzing Zoro. I saw Sanji doing his cool saviour thing and Zoro not even looking because he trusts Sanji to do what he needs to. Why do people have to fight every time. Toei drfinitely snubbed Sanji with this adaptation though.

I had no idea this was the reason why people were upset, but i can’t be surprised at the reason why…
I wasn’t happy with the scene cause it didn’t feel like the Manga Chapter, drawn exactly like it, with Sanji on the side of Zoro, but it wasn’t anything that made me extremely upset, i just felt like they missed with this one, however the added scenes after with the fighting was great!

I felt the same during the Lucci vs Luffy Fight. I didn’t see Ch. 1069 Pg 8-9 executed exactly how i read it in the Manga, i really liked that page and i felt they missed, of course everything after that, they did fine.
Even Ch. 1041 Pg 15. I feel they didn’t show Luffy’s Speed in a way that they should have, he felt slow, i feel Luffy’s speed and shadowy appearance should have been executed like Zoro’s Shishi Sonson against Kuma, but ehhh, they missed again.
Anime doesn’t have to be 1 to 1 Exact to the Manga, they can deviate a bit, technically they already do but i just want certain moments to be executed well. Like Tonight’s Episode. I need Toei to continue to get me immersed in the Painful Kuma Scene they will show. That Bloodcurdling Scream from Young Kuma last episode gave me Goosebumps.
How Ive seen it, Zoro is big bro and Sanji is little bro. I feel like Sanji lacks in compartments that Zoro excel and vice versa... Oda isnt picking a favorite, he is expressing brotherhood.

Sanji is a great character but if we are being honest he's not near as popular as Zoro
Oba plays on their rivalry in manga and tries to keep them somewhat balanced but Toei is a business trying to push the One Piece brand.
Zoro being more marketable and popular means he will be favored in anime and ads for better or worse

Maybe not even in strength but with fighting capability . Zoro is a straight forward fighter his only strat is cut and cut harder or cut faster. He played sanjis 2 year training for a gag and sanji still managed to come out much stronger . Oda chooses to nerf both of them at times for comedic purposes. And I disagree with the anime take as well. Lol sanji probably has the best fights within one piece . Actual combos and finishers while zoro just one shots everyone in the end .
