Now that you analyzed both Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti, you should definitely react to Alter Bridge “Words Darker Than Their Wings” live at the Royal Albert Hall. The duo both sing and play guitar, and the entire band is supported by a 52-piece orchestra! Definitely worth checking out, and I hope you get to analyze their performance!
As someone who religiously keeps a Sinatra CD in his vehicle, I can say without a doubt, this is the closest I have ever heard anyone get to Sinatra - not Buble, not Connick Jr, not MacFarlane - Mark Tremonti is the closest I have ever heard.
I you seriously think this guy is the closest you have ever heard to Sinatra, then you haven't heard many of the best Sinatra Artists out there. First, he doesn't have resonant baritone of Sinatra. Second, at least in this tune, he has so much vibrato in his voice as to seem forced and almost annoying. All he is doing is singing s Sinatra song ( and also a Frankie Valli song ) to Sinatra's arrangement, but that's where the resemblance begins and ends. There a dozen performers out there who do it better. The Carnegie Club in NYC has the longest running Night Club Show in NYC. It happens to be a Sinatra Show and runs every Saturday Night with an 11 piece orchestra. The reason it has run so long is because the star, Steven Maglio, is tops in the Business. People come from all over the country indeed the world to see that Show. There is also a man named Chris Jason out in Las Vegas who is equally good. Both of them are better.
This is why Alter Bridge fans are so blessed. Mark and Myles both have incredible voices, and are two of the best guitarists around. Then there are the lyrics! 🤯
Mark is just an amazing human being. A genuine caring nice guy. And then there's his talent! One of my favorite guitarists of all time and then he astonishes us with Sinatra.
It makes me so happy to see Mark Tremonti in one of your videos. He's one of the greatest, he really is, and he doesn't get much fame or recognition for it. He's an incredible song writer, composer, lyricist, singer, and, of course, elite shredder (he learned from Michael Angelo Batio, among others, so of course he's great). His concept album and book combo called "A Dying Machine" is one of my favorite things ever. He absolutely knocked this collaboration, tribute, and charity effort completely out of the park. He actually did do his homework and even Sinatra's band commented as such.
He literally has a folder about Sinatra. He has a great video on how he taught himself to sing like Sinatra and sing in general. But he recognized his range was very similar to Sinatras. So he started mimicking the ways he placed vowels and where he took breaths. Among quite a few other things. It's really interesting and cool to hear how he taught himself. It's extremely practical. It's inspiring because it really was about focusing on the minutia and cataloging everything along with practice. Then he got it.
I skipped college graduation for this albums debut charity banquet!! An amazing night and 1700 dollars for charity later, and I walked out with a Tremonti made painting! Ultra talented guy, but he’s an even more amazing person.
Nice video. Mark Tremonti has been one of my favorite musicians since the 90's and he always comes out with something new and better. This guys IS music. Love it.
I was a Creed fan in the '90s, and I absolutely LOVE Alter Bridge!! In 2012, I worked at a music venue where Creed played 'reunion' shows for two nights. I had lunch in the catering room and Mark Tremonti was the *only* other person in there! I don't get starstruck easily, but this time I was. He was so nice and down to earth! I got to stand on his side of the stage during their show and he's uber talented!!! 🤩 🎸 🎙
The man is one of the most humble multi-platinum artists I’ve ever met. So down to earth! Love this effort and the cause it serves! Thank you for sharing this and giving your expertise on it! 👍🏼
It's ABOUT TIME!...I've been screaming about this guy for YEARS!!!...Mark is not only the greatest guitarist of all time, the greatest musician of all time, HANDS DOWN!...he is also a PHENOMENAL story teller, a VERY humble man! Mark Tremonti should be an INSPIRATION to all young men!
Congratulations to you and your husband and family on your precious little baby boy! This is such a great video as well. I'm a huge fan of Frank Sinatra and this song is one of my top favorites of his songs. Mark did a great job too. Stunning actually. Very smooth and easy feel to it. 👍😎
Hi Elizabeth, this is my first time listening to Mark Tremonti's vocals, and his performance was absolutely amazing. It's uncanny how his voice sounds like he's the reincarnation of Frank Sinatra. Thank you, Elizabeth!!! 💙
You did what I asked! Thank you oh so much for the exposure for Mark and the charity. I thought you would like this and was so interested in your opinion of his work. You still need to do a reaction to some of his work with Tremonti the band. Now that you know that he can actually sing and can do it quite well. Thank you for getting to this for me and everybody else. Oh and BTW I really enjoyed your reaction to this.
Bruce....Her reaction has been all our reaction as well. Simply amazing job by Mark and the crew that got this done!!!! Again, AMAZING job by all!!! DW.
This is amazing!!! I am a Sinatra fan and I have never heard anyone who came even close to his sound until now. Never heard of Mr. Tremonti but tip my Fedora to him.
I am sooo thrilled that you're doing this reaction! He is incredible doing Mr. Sinatra! 💖 I shared with my 75 yr old Mom the videos of the songs Mark has released so far for this album, and showed her his video explaining the project. She was super impressed which is an impossible feat. Delights my 💛!
My mom knows that my favorite artists are Myles, Mark, and AB. After I showed her Mark's Sinatra videos, I shared some music videos of Myles solo work, Tremonti's music, and AB's so she fully understood the divergence. I have never seen this woman so impressed! 🤘
Please, don't overlook the fact that he is performing with Frank's actual band! Those cats are tight, and certainly inspired Mark to greater heights in his performance. A truly great band will l always have a positive affect on a vocalist! What a privilege to sing in front of those guys.
I was lucky enough to attend Mark's live performance of this with the Sinatra band members. Sounds just as good in person! Whether its Alter Bridge, Tremonti, or Sinatra, Mark always puts on a great show. Such a talented guy, and seems like a geniunely great person.
This entire album is absolutely awesome! The resemblance is uncanny. If you listen to his last album, by far I want to say it’s his best vocal work yet. I’ve seen him live this year and his vocal range has improved soooo much. I can’t emphasize enough, the man can sing so much better now than when he started doing his solo stuff.
In the middle of the title track of his most recent solo album there's a short, soft passage that, when I first heard last fall, I actually said: 'Wow, he sounded just like Sinatra right there.' Thanks for sharing the touching back story. Mark's definitely one of the good guys.
I'm glad you decided to review Mark's work! His vocal work has come a long way. If you listen to his first solo album and compare it to his latest releases, the growth and development is incredible. The guy is extremely talented.
You also might be interested in listening to Marching in time by the band Tramonti, the song is a letter to his daughter who was born during the pandemic. It’s a great song and Mark is a great singer. Also The Alter Bridge song Words darker than there wings from Royal Albert hall with both Mark and Myles singing is an amazing listen as well.
It's absolutely amazing how much he sounds like Frank Sinatra. I cannot believe how close he is considering how different he sounds in Alter Bridge. He has a large vocal toolbox for sure. Thank you for reacting to this and for sharing about the charity for Downs Syndrome. I had no idea about this album or the meaning behind it. Keep being awesome!
I am a huge metal head but Frank Sinatra has always been my favorite singer. He did a fantastic job at recreating Frank's style and being true to the music but he also added a few of his own things to it. Amazing. I have had this album pre ordered from the first day. Excited to hear the whole album.
Elizabeth.....Awesome!!! I love it too. Already have the pre-order CD. Can't wait to hear the full album. Mark NAILED this!!!! Channeling Frank for sure and for a great cause. DW.
Cannot wsit for your reaction. Mark's voice is so good when he sings in Alter Bridge or in his own band Tremonti. But this Sinatra Tribute is amazing. I'm obsessed with it!
I know you've reacted Alter Bridge a couple of times so you've probably heard Mark singing backing vocals. Perhaps you should react to a song from his OTHER other band, Tremonti, so you can hear what he normally sounds like as a lead vocalist. You might be surprised. I recommend the song Unable to See from the album Dust.
I agree wholeheartedly! I think that the title song Dust would be amazing to see a reaction too. I have met Mark a couple of times on a Rock Cruise I go on, He is truly an outstanding person.
Elizabeth, Tremonti is awesome, i would like to see you react to Alter Bridge Words Darker Than Their Wings live at Albert Royal Hall, is a duet from Myles and Mark.
Watching this makes me long for the days when singers sang well and not like the wild vocal gymnasts of today. And what he did was much harder too, more disciplined and understanding of music. This is why Frank's voice lasted so long, it was smooth and done with care of his instrument. No strain, just attention to what is important - tone, rhythm and feeling. Thanks for putting this together and sharing your love of big band jazz, one of my favorites as well.
Here are some of them, Jonathan. I saved them in a playlist. A few contemporary music and classic rock too: ua-cam.com/play/PLmZdCa4JNg15FvBMEafgY2xV3sM4i44a8.html Enjoy! ❤
I've been following Alter Bridge since their start and I know and appreciate his talents in that genre, but this floored me. Who knew he had hidden crooner talent hiding in there?!
Love it. Had I heard this song on the radio for the first time I would initially have thought it is the 1966 recording of Frank Sinatra - especially as it is using the exact same orchestral arrangement - but I probably would have noticed something being off with the vocals throwing me for a loop. I would listen more intently and conclude it wasn't Sinatra and marvel at the skill of this singer. It really takes balls to take on the classic - almost sacred - recordings of Ol' Blue Eyes, but Mark Tremonti makes it work in the best possible way.
Fantastic as always. It was awesome to this on the list of recorded videos. Congrats to you and Kirk, by the way. Mark's natural tone is very similar to Frank's. So, this was a perfect fit. But as a guitarist fan of Mark, to hear him sing in his bands and now this has been such an amazing surprise and delight. He's gone from a personal guitar hero, to my absolute favorite musician and songwriter. It would be great to see you react to more of his singing.
I've listened to this recording a hundred times now. I am totally overwhelmed. Mark Tremonti does sound like Frank Sinatra a 100%. This is .. I have no words.
Nice change of pace. Love how tight and in control of their volumes a band like that can be, true professionals. Mark is spot on with all of it, it leaves me wondering if they were able to find and use microphones similar to what Sinatra had, they seemed to be capturing the breathiness of the vocals really well. Was watching Hollies videos yesterday. "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" might be a good one to look at too. It's easy for a person to like a lot of different kinds of music when there are talented people writing the songs, and singing and playing it.
To late for the live chat, but did read it during this nice reaction. So, congratulations with your son Elizabeth and Kirk! Take good care of him, each other and yourselves! And congrats for the 900k.
I know Mark would be thrilled with your appreciation of his work and technique. He said it's one of the hardest things he's ever done. I'll see his Dad at Christmas and I'll make sure your video gets shared throughout the family. Check out Mark's Christmas album and he'll be touring with Creed summer 2024. Thanks for your kind words.
So glad that Elizabeth did this review of Tremonti. Not only did it enhance my appreciation of his covering Sinatra, but it also added real depth to my appreciation of "Old Blue Eyes" himself. So this was definitely a two-fer: Tremonti and Sinatra both. As always, Elizabeth's deep understanding of the mechanics of vocal dynamics increases my appreciation of greatness. And it's not just her understanding ... it's her ability to communicate that to the rest of us.
If you are able to find anything from his live charity event in Orlando, I would highly recommend it. We were blessed to attend it and it was absolutely amazing.
I’m going to see them play here in Boston in a couple of weeks. It’s my first ever concert(aside from seeing Def Leppard at the 1999 Sacramento State Fair 😂). I really really want to see Mark sing that night haha. He is the sole reason I picked up a guitar for the first time twenty years ago, but now he’s one of my favourite singers.
Wow never knew Mark was such a great singer so this is a treat! I also adore that horn section towards the middle. It’s one of the most blissful sections in any piece of music
From what I've heard from Mark Tremonti(which is everything), that's just how he sings and sounds, although this stuff isn't the range he usually performs in. Perfect and natural fit to sing Frank Sinatra.
Tremonti didn't think he was a good enough vocalist for his first solo album, Myles is the one who encouraged him and gave Mark the confidence to branch out.
One of my favorite things about Mark Tremonti is how he is always improving himself musically. He sold millions of albums in Creed but actively sought out better guitar players for lessons and when he formed Alter Bridge you can tell he learned from Myles Kennedy and worked very hard on his singing technique. If you review some of his solo work I think you will hear how each album he gets better vocally and instrumentally.
If you want to hear Tremonti’s heavier vocals, he takes the lead on Waters Rising by Alter Bridge. The Royal Albert Hall live version is an excellent example. His shared vocals with Myles on the song Words Darker Than Their Wings are also fantastic, from the same concert.
You are by far my favorite UA-cam channel now. I love your content and your breakdowns and how you describe each singer. Given Up by Linkin Park is still my favorite but your knowledge of how to sing is incredible. I grew up with a father that played keyboards and sang. He has perfect pitch (which drives me bonkers because I don't) and a brother who also had perfect pitch and absolutely shredded on guitar. (RIP) I have been watching your channel for four days straight. Thank you.
Oh I love that song and funnily I was sitting enjoying the instrumental part and reminiscing about when I danced lindy hop while studying in Sweden. And then you mentioned the same love for swing and lindy hop 🤩 That was awesome while listening to this wonderful music and your analysis. I would love to see more swing music here 😄
Thank you so much for doing this. When I first heard about the cd from Mark, and then heard his performance, I was really hoping someone would analyze it. I'm neither a vocal or Sinatra expert, but Tremonti really sounding like he nailed it to me and it"s nice to see a real expert agrees. While I would love to see an analysis of Alter Bridge's 'Words Darker Than Their Wings' from the Royal Albert Hall show, you may also want to check out Tremonti's band and listen to 'The Dying Machine'. He does a great job of changing his singing style during the song and it's over six minutes long, so It's got that going for it also.
Grew up with Mom's vast and wide ranging collection of old 78's. Big band became my all-time favorite music (still is). So many different elements to enjoy! I have sung the great American songbook on stages for almost thirty years, yet even before that, both Franks (Sinatra and Zappa) became two of my heroes. Also being a songwriter; there are few mentors that have reached the musical pinnacle like the Gershwin's, Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael, and the composer of this song, Cole Porter. He achieved the ultimate having done double duty writing incredibly beautiful music and wonderfully erudite words. Few have accomplish both with such excellence. This was composed in 1936, as a score for one of many plays. His immense song book has some of the most delightful (and De-lovely!) tunes imaginable. Sinatra's marvelous take and now vocal clone Mark Tremonti (two nice Italian boys), both served it up with the perfect amount of panache it deserves. Thanks for your inspiration, knowledge about singing (wish I knew you 50 years ago) plus introducing me to contemporary bands I've never heard before (a tad busy with performing, building a house, raising kids...sigh). This was truly wonderful, as are you. Lots of love, light and laughter to you, Kirk and your new little human (or maybe angel). Your Uncle Brother, Matthew
This is pretty moving, from his careful observation of Sinatra's voice and phrasing to the story behind why he did it. You look so delighted as well Elizabeth. I'm off again, something in my eye...
Holy wow. I was a fan of AB at 13 years old. That was 18 yrs ago. I always knew about Myles’ jazz background and training, and I knew Mark COULD sing (I had his solo album over ten yrs ago lol) but I would have NEVER imagined he was capable of this
Tremonti is a new discovery for me, and I love it! Their song Marching In Time is incredible! Metal with a really nice powerful voice, I think you'd like it!

In some shots from profile, he even looks like a younger Frank.

You need to do one of Mark singing one of his songs now, so you can contrast! I recommend Tremonti’s “If Not For You” or “Dust”.
To see your love of music, not love of one genre but music is so refreshing. Please don't lose this passion.
I was able to hear Mark Tremonti and Sinatra's band past December in Orlando, the show was amazing and for a great cause 💛💙
He's getting a little bit of Dean Martin in there too. Such a talented guy. I cannot wait to listen to the whole album
I never knew he could sing. Goosebumps. It's uncanny.
Check out his solo stuff. It's just brilliant
To late for the live chat, but did read it during this nice reaction.
So, congratulations with your son Elizabeth and Kirk! Take good care of him, each other and yourselves!
And congrats for the 900k.
Mark Tremonti is super talented, would love to see you react to some of his work from Tremonti, his vocals are amazing and truly underrated
His Christmas album is easily my new favorite seasonal music. I'm hoping he comes back in 2024 with another Christmas album.
Tremonti is literally Tremonster!
If you are able to find anything from his live charity event in Orlando, I would highly recommend it. We were blessed to attend it and it was absolutely amazing.
Congrats on the new little addition to the family Elizabeth!!
OT: congrats on successfully helping bring another charismatic 'lil thingy into this world, and good health and happyness to all 3 of you
Super joyous analysis. I love watching these.
I was just thinking to comment this...
Your joy in this review is completely infectious! 🎵❤😁
Legend =) I've been hoping for this since your "We Don't Talk About Bruno" video
He is amazing! This album is due out in a few days or so. I think I'll get a copy!
I had this song on repeat for 8 hours straight at work when he released this cover. Friday cannot get here fast enough
Wait what, the first 30 seconds I had to watch twice, I didn't know any of these facts, where have I been ?????
Mark does a fantastic job on the entire album.
The band is absolutely incredible!!!
I've just revisited the concert and can hear Mark's vocals as Sinatra singing backup. Simply superb.
I’ve been waiting for this!!
(RIP)
I have been watching your channel for four days straight. Thank you.
Just a top singer! Who sings from the heart! I couldn't praise the guy up anymore!
Oh I love that song and funnily I was sitting enjoying the instrumental part and reminiscing about when I danced lindy hop while studying in Sweden. And then you mentioned the same love for swing and lindy hop 🤩 That was awesome while listening to this wonderful music and your analysis. I would love to see more swing music here 😄
A prolific songwriter and musician. Mark is my primary influence as a musician myself. Love the guy.
It would sound exactly like frank sinatra if he didn't start so breathy on so many words. It sounds like "hive got you hunder my skin".
Wow, it’s uncanny how much he sounds like Frank. Thanks Elizabeth, enjoyed this one, I really like the brass and brushed drums.
Thank you for doing this, and bringing attention to the cause behind this.
I always knew about Myles’ jazz background and training, and I knew Mark COULD sing (I had his solo album over ten yrs ago lol) but I would have NEVER imagined he was capable of this
Tremonti is one of my favorite guitarist. Ever🙂
Great analysis! This was my first time hearing this song. It won’t be my last time.
Have you heard Sullivan by Caroline’s Spine? Very emotional.
Oh, the big band sound! Thanks for introducing another artist, with a great cause.
Tremonti is a new discovery for me, and I love it! Their song Marching In Time is incredible! Metal with a really nice powerful voice, I think you'd like it!
Please check out some of his solo project, Tremonti. So melodic. Such great songwriting. Thank you for this.
Mark is amazing, bring him more🤘🏻🤘🏻
