Even the dear loss of a family member could be associated with the split or breakup of a relationship, but staying on topic it is not easy to overcome this step. You said correctly what are the ways to follow in order to forget and not think, both excluding the telephone, social media, etc. but the variables are also subjective and also reflect the character of each person. I totally agree that various hobbies and interests help to forget, while not everyone has the opportunity to have help from friends and family not to isolate themselves and think about the past and what mistakes there have been. Both are hurtful, but for me the grief of loss of our closed ones is more hurtful. we can fall in love again in the future, but we are unable to bring our closed ones back again. Even though every breakup has similar stages, people experience this process differently, and recovery is dependent on many different things ( like you've mentioned " it's not easy to overcome ). we might need more time to recover but I am confident to tell you "we will heal in time".
