    Thanks for letting us look around your workshop and the intarsia you've done.

    I only round off the top 1/3 and try to avoid sanding the surfaces that touch once I have the fit correct

    If you had to build this again, what would you do different?

    Nice work! I've done it where grain orientation (or thickness) is all the same and just cut the whole pattern out at one time. Then just round over all the edges and it's done. You mean to tell me that you have to cut out and sand each individual pattern piece
    and then make it fit like a puzzle?

      Yes each piece is oriented so that the grain enhances the pattern, and the different heights give the 3 dimensional appearance. So I started from the center basically and worked towards the perimeter pieces

    how do you change the thickness of the woods you use? Thickness Planer? Drum sander? I'm interested. I'm new to the scrolling. just bought a Dewalt 788.

      I would usually use my jointer or with the smaller pieces just the 12" disc sander

    @silentkill253 MY FIRST ATTEMPT WAS THE EAGLE, WHICH I WASN'T HAPPY WITH I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM WAS THE SIZE, I MADE IT THE SIZE OF THE PICTURE IN THE BOOK. REALIZED THE SMALLER THE HARDER

    How do you “raise” the wood?

    • @xxcodyxx1
      @xxcodyxx1  6 років тому +1

      You can either make some pieces thinner, or even use like some 1/4" plywood to raise certain areas if the wood wasn't thick enough
