The scary thing: this used to be one of the top videos I’d recommend to show off their skills. Now it might be the 10th video I’d think of to show off their skills. Best new rock band, IMO, since groups formed in the 70’s. Not based on a few songs… their entire catalog, and especially the last 5 albums, are fantastic.
Everyone has their favourites of Kanami (lead), Misa (bass), Akane (drums) and Saiki (vocals) but I think Miku (rhythm) is adored by most fans. Just the rhythm player - hell no, band founder, lyricist, rhythm, secondary vocals, comedienne, entertainer, public face of Band Maid (now with Saiki), relentless publicist and convinces us to spend more money on them than is probably wise. Didn't learn to play guitar until after she founded the band originally intending to be the vocalist but stepped back when she realised a more powerful voice was needed, definitely not a novice guitarist any more. Incidentally also a superb vocalist in her own right and takes lead vocals occasionally (see Sayonakidori acoustic live for example). Good to hear appreciation for the rhythm player po!
The way Misa switches between pick and no pick to slap and finger pluck is so nice to watch. She does it so often and so fast you will miss it if you aren't watching for it. You can see her holding the pick in her knuckles that is some crazy. How many hours do you have to practice to get that right. This entire band is insane to me, they have put in the hard work to finally start getting recognized for all the sweat and tears I am sure it has taken.
I love how you reacted to the Misa Bass breakdown part. It's exactly how I felt when I first heard her play. I was rendered speechless, then ran around in circles listening to it again and finally pulled my bass out and learned every Misa Bass riff I could until my fingers hurt. Thanks to the fire, that listening to Bandmaid brought back in me, I'm back in a band again and haven't stopped playing since.
Ahoy, matey and welcome to the Maidiac fleet!! (Pssst - the singer is awesome too!). Seriously, you have to hear about 20 of their songs before you really have a grasp of how awesome they are. They utilize every damn genre that ever existed and they invented about 250 of their own along the way. A lot of people take one look at the maid outfits and say "yeah, right whatever floats your boat." Tell you what, they're MISSING the boat, and the rest of us will drench ourselves in their awesomeness.
The drummer gets a longer solo in *"Freedom* (Official Live Video)" from Line Cube Shibuya, if that's what you're looking for. Their most recent instrumental is *"from now on"* and they used it to open their set at Lollapalooza in Chicago last August 4th. There's a two song video from the hulu stream of their Lollapalooza set (not from their channel) called *"BAND-MAID - Dice & Hate? at Lollapalooza 2023, with optimized audio" that shows the drummer laying out the groove while the bass and guitar trade licks. It's pretty awesome (except the camera is never pointing at the right player).
Well, let's give the drummer a name: A-ka-ne (the gorilla). If you are here for instrumentalists that are shining in every song, then band maid is perfect for you. The bass of Mi-sa (the barefoot assassin) will get many moments. And the lead guitarist Ka-na-mi as the composer of most of their songs is a master of her instrument. But wait until both vocalists Sa-i-ki (lead) and Mi-ku (the founder and rythm guitarist) come into play.
Jeremy you know that nice fella you speak to who's name begins with Gary, He was banned for a day a few hours ago for some unknown reason. But you can gaze at my smiley pumpkin face instead if you want :)
@@HolloweenKlown-810 Well that's a first he says sarcastically. I was wondering if he had heard from Gray this year yet as the date is getting closer that he usually emerges from the depths.
@@Kevin6059 I hear you, and a few years ago reading comments I thought Hmmm some of this is a bit OTT, but I know now for myself that these Rock Goddesses lift my spirit everyday and Miku is my inspiration for achieving goals even as I near a young 65. The joy B-M brings is priceless and I thank the Rock Gods daily for their existence.
@@brunobryant4846 Yeah, I was listening to Unseen World and Unleash today. Blows me away every time how great EVERY song is. It feels like it did when I was 16 hearing Rush “Permanent Waves”, immersing in Yes, Zeppelin and Floyd during college. I’m obsessed with this bands’ music just like I was with those giants. Band-Maid is another rock giant.
You have just dipped your toes into the hot springs that is band maid. They have so much to give. They all have something to give. If you just to their official live of "puzzle" they all shine. Props to the prince mention. Man was a master. For great musicians there is a photo of jimmy page and band maids drummer. He was very impressed with her
Yep, MISA(bassist) has that effect on just about everyone. and she just gets better (it shows as the music gets newer). But here is the thing, this is just the opening to the Rabbit Hole that is Band Maid's music. You could literally play a different hit/favorite song, every day, for the next 2 months, and STILL not hit HALF of their music library. There really isnt a bad song in the catalog. now some of their older stuff might seem semi-dated by now since they have been around for about 10 years now, but they are all Bangers!!!
Pick almost any song in their huge discography, and you wont be disappointed! Every single member brings something to the table. Domination official live next!🙏
But be careful: Sometimes the live videos are better (unless they are official, no fan cam recordings) but sometimes the official videos (MVs) are great, too (Dice, Rinne, Warning....). Just listen to us MAIDiacs ... We'll lead you 😅
Formed ten years ago, Band-Maid has become an incredible music making machine. About eight years ago their record label allowed them to record their first composition, "Alone" and since then they have grown as composers and songwriters. The Japanese entertainment industry now regularly hires Band-Maid to compose Anime themes. Lead guitar Kanami Tono is their main composer, followed by bassist Misa, and drummer Akane Hirose. Kanami taught rythm guitarist Miku Kobato how to play guitar. Miku is their primary lyricist. Their lead vocalist Saiki Atsumi also writes lyrics and contributes to songwriting. Miku was the founder/recruiter of the band and the one who originated the "Hard Rock Maid Band" concept. This band does it all: composition, production, recording, and each member has a role running Band-Maid as a business. They design much of their merch. The best part are their live shows: 19 to 23 high energy songs interspersed with MC breaks where they interact with audience with light comedy and trolling each other. This is the best live show on the planet. Just go to their UA-cam channel and start listening to songs at random and you'll find that they don't write bad songs: they're all good.
Maidiacs Incoming! Welcome to the pigeonhole, new friend. And good recruiting job, Navyman! You impressed me by being impressed by an instrumental. Band Maid has released four official instrumental tracks over their 10 year career. Why no instrumentals from modern bands? As a musician myself, I can tell you that it’s because they can’t. No vocals means you can’t cut and paste verses and choruses. It requires far more creativity, music theory, and ability to make a song without words. Congratulations on finding your way to the finest hard rock fusion band playing today. Enjoy the ride! 🚀 🎢
@@NavyDoc5184Reacts she doesn't wear shoes onstage when she plays, she drinks whiskey or beer onstage but she's slowed that down evidently and she kills you with her bass playing. Watch the live, on line performance of NO GOD and you'll understand.
Oh man, a great reaction to start with. Hell of a ride waiting for you with this band. Absolutely top tier in very respect. And you'll love the rhythm section of this band. Absolute gold and they're given plenty of love in songs and by fans.
Short intro to the band Miku (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, second vocals, Lyricist, Band founder Misa (The Barefoot Assassin) - Bass, beer and whiskey Akane (Gorilla) - Drums, Bananas or any food for that matter Kanami (Princess,Kanamincho or Mincho) - Lead Guitar, Genius composer, coffee and cakes Saiki (Ice Queen) - Lead Vocals, Mesmorizing stage performer
Just wait until you hear one of their songs with vocals. Lead vocalist Saiki (not in Onset) is an excellent singer, and Miku (rhythm guitarist/lyricist) is great at backing vocals, though occasionally leads when Saiki is taking a break. Every single one of them is at the top of their game. The talent just oozes out of this band. I haven't heard a song I don't like. When people ask what genre they play, the answer is Band-Maid.
Battle Stations! Batten down the hatches! Close all water tight doors! Band-Maid is inbound and World Domination is their goal! A awesome ride is in store for NavyDoc!
Hi, Doc!! Thanks for the good reaction!!! And also, thank you for mentioning Miku, the rhythm guitarist!!! Many musician friends of mine said the same thing, that you can be just a rhythm player or you can be a Great rhythm guitarist!!! And also, the harmonies and lines that Saiki, the lead vocalist, and Miku sing are sooo beautiful...😊 Thanx again, Doc, and cheers from Tokyo!!🤘😁
The main guitar, drums, and bass are world class. The main vocals are also great, and the side guitars and sub vocals are also great. There are also about 150 wonderful original songs, all of which are wonderful. There are very few groups like this in the world. Please enjoy.🤩
Akane, the drummer, is NEVER off the beat. Someone said she must have an atomic clock in her brain. Everyone of these Japanese are incredibly talented. The band always gives Misa, the bassist, a chance to shine in every song. Kanami, the lead guitarist, also composes all their songs with input from all the members. Miku, the rhythm guitarist, founded the band as a singer. She did not know how to play the guitar, but when the management company said they need a rhythm guitarist, so Kanami told Miku she would teach here. How would like for your sensei (teacher) is one of the foremost rock guitarist in the world. You definitely need to check out more of their songs. Saiki, the lead vocalist, is incredible with a strong rock female voice. Feel free to jump down the Band Maid pigeon hole (inside joke). You'll probably become a Maidiac like the rest of us.
My opinion is that Band-Maid are one of the best bands to have formed in the past 10 years, and are currently one of the best rock and roll bands on the planet. They play many genres including ballads, power ballads, pop, rock, progressive rock, hard rock, punk, and everything before in-between and beyond. They also have several great instrumental songs that they use live to give their lead singer Saiki (Sigh-Kee) a break. I don't know what musical style that you prefer but you can't go wrong by listening to Onset, Moratorium, No God, Rinne, About Us, Play, and my favorite Official Music Video of theirs Don't You Tell Me. The double bass kick drum on No God and Rinne will blow your mind. Have fun with it! Introducing The Band... Miku [mee-kuu] (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, Band Founder Misa [mee-suh] (Barefoot Assassin) - Bass Guitar Akane [aah-kah-nay] (Gorilla) - Drums Kanami [kuh-nah-mee] (Mincho) - Lead Guitar, Songwriter Saiki [sigh-kee] (Sai-Chan) - Lead Vocals
They have 4-5 instrumentals to choose from, and they use them during their live performances to give Saiki a break since their shows are about 2 hours long.
Corpsman? Retired ABHC here. A couple suggestions. Go back 10 secs whenever you stop/re start. Also, Band-Maid fans don't take kindly to stops in the middle of the epic solos 😁. Band-Maid doesn't block...they like reactions. Plenty of greatness on their YT page. Live is usually best, it's where they really shine. Seen em live 3 times myself
Brother as they say in the classics - you ain't seen nothin yet - welcome to the happiest, healthiest addiction on the Planet, but I will give a siezure warning - these Rock Goddesses are going to grab your heart and you're gonna love it, what a fcken band Po, VIVA the Maids 👍🎸🥁🎤🍻
Hello, Navydoc. Good comment. Onset, was my second experience with Band Maid and got me into this band. I had the same face as you while watching the video. Band Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila are the 3 best female rock bands today by far. Each one is different from the others but we can all appreciate them. Band Maid made other instrumentals like From Now on which is also a masterpiece. But all the other songs with Saiki the main singer are worth listening to because they are so good. Nearly 120 songs. You have a hell of a job to do, man. Have fun.👍
Band-Maid is one of the best hard rock bands in the world ! They have done a few anime openings as well =) and they do have a great singer ! Check out "Domination" Official Live or the 'Blooming" MV Thanks Doc btw I was in the Navy 1976 - 1982
Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
You forgot to mention that in the mid to late 70's Joan Jetts band The Runaways were absolutely huge in Japan. And they were the first all female band to do so. And the were all teenagers at the time.
As a fellow navy guy hello , This is a well crafted instrumental however you have not even begun to get a feel for Band Maid . This is my go to group above all others on any given day . I mean they supplanted SABATON in my world . Bottom line is have fun enjoy ,and be amazed . Great reaction review
if you like bassists, you'll love Misa. Since she is one of the strongest musical talents in the band (they're all really good now), they use her differently than other bands might. Miku (rhythm guitar, backing vocals) didn't learn guitar until after the band was created, so she had a lot of catching up to do (and wow did she ever), Miku does more of what a traditional bassist does and this allows Misa to do more complex basslines with secondary melodies. In Band-Maid songs, Misa is often soloing for about 3-4 minutes.
The Maids will serve you well in broadening your musical horizons. They are an entity unto themselves. Miku, the rhythm guitarist, couldn't play guitar when she formed this band 10 years ago. Now she is one of the best there is. She was taught by the lead guitarist, Kanami. The bassist, Misa, is known as the 'Barefoot Assassin'. You will see why as you delve into the huge catalogue of these women. When you hear their singer, Saiki, ply her trade, you will be astounded. I think 'Domination', live, would be a great place to start with her. It is good to work up to their later songs I think.
Just a minor edit 🙃...the lead guitarist is Kanami, aka Mincho. Akane, aka Gorilla, is the drummer. And I agree, Saiki is AMAZING!!! WORLD DOMINATION!!! PO!!!🕊 🤘😆🤘
@@80mtn It's Midnight in the UK, i was just about to go to bed. By social media whose initials sound exactly like "Why Tea". Broke their strict guidelines apparently.🤷♂️
Band-Maid is a hard rock band. Quite different from Lovebites. IMO they are the one of the best I have ever seen - and I have seen a lot in my 55 years. If you continue to peruse their music catalog, you may very well see what I mean!
They have multiple instrumentals and they're all amazing. Thanks for joining the club. Thankfully, my seizures aren't triggered by lights so I can still go to concerts. I missed their last Philly show though and they have no plans for a US tour next year :(
Band-Maid is a wonderful group of ladies. They are all solid in how they play and have great cohesiveness. I`ve seen them live. they are awesome. Great piece for an introduction but keep listening to them. It gets better and better.
Imo I've come to the conclusion that today the best.. Metal band: Lovebites Hard rock band: Band-Maid All around rock band: King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard It's exciting times these days. Finally.
Miku the rhythm guitarist started the band. Kanami the lead guitarist taught Miku how to play. When the band started 10 years ago Miku didn’t even play.
Two rules for watching Band Maid. 1) It has to be a live cut. 2) The whole experience includes the vocalist(S), so a purely instrumental outtake is not going to show you what they can do. I suggest the LIVE cut of Domination and the LIVE duel cut of Manners and Black Hole. Lots of instrumentation in these cuts, so nothing is lost: Domination ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html Manners with Black Hole ua-cam.com/video/iaf94nNSRGE/v-deo.html
I've noticed with a lot of groups live performances seem to be the way to go. For me I love seeing and hearing the energy of the crowd which just adds a magical touch to whatever is being performed.
Initially I did not, but it has been pointed out to me more than a few times. Gotta admit, that's one of the most impressive things I've seen from ANY bass player.
When you mentioned the bass player near the start I said to myself, good news, my friend, you've found the right band :) This was one of the first Band-Maid tunes I heard about three years ago and it still blows my mind how good it sounds. I'd recommend you go back to their earliest available vids, "Thrill", for example on their official youtube channel and work your way to the present. Meanwhile, I see you have some Star Wars reactions so I'll see you there ;)
Great reaction! Thanks! Many people will argue back and forth as to which is the best band, Lovebites or BandMaid. IMO they are equally awesome and two of the best bands in the world! Nemophila is right there on their heels, and can be lumped in with them. Looks like you loved the bassist, Misa (aka "The Barefoot Assassin" Coming from the fact that her outfit is some form of Ninja garb and she kills it on the bass). Go back at watch from 7:39 and you will see her picking, then within just a couple seconds, she will be slapping. While she's playing, she tucks the pick up in her fingers and switches back and forth seamlessly. You might have to slow it down to 50% to see it well. You will find this to be a common theme in the all female Japanese Bands, where they give each member a mini solo feature lasting 10-20 seconds. These bands seem to really have a lot of respect for each member in the band and are usually all really good friends outside of the band. Something sorely missing in western music. Best thing is it always fits seamlssly into the song, unlike some of the solos in American music that are just plopped into the song.
Nice reaction! Do you like instrumental music? Be sure to listen to FromNowOn and WithoutHoldingBack. I think it will surprise you just like Onset. FromNowOn: Very tight and intense instrumental. The drums and guitar especially stand out. WithoutHoldingBack: It's funkier and the bass is wilder. The bass is really great in this song. Although it is not official, YT has a white room version, and the video focuses on the performance of each instrument. Each member of BAND-MAID is an outstanding and unique instrumentalist, and lead guitarist KANAMI is a genius composer. As you say, rhythm guitar MIKU is very important. Thanks to the rhythm guitar, the bassist can play quite freely and freely. She is also the lyricist and founder of the band. And of course the main vocalist, SAIKI, is amazing. She makes the final decisions on BAND-MAID songs.
hey there navy doc, i was an army doc, for 6 years back in the 70s', and i would recommend "Domination" live for your next view, i've been a fan of these ladies since 2018 and i think they are now the gatekeepers for rock
This is at least the 4th instrumental from this incredible band. "Onset", "Don't be long", "From now on" and a 4th for Genshin Impact video game (hope I spelled that correctly). There may be others that I can't think of, but as a whole, they are truly amazing. Glad you liked them. My father served in WWII In the NAVY on the pacific. thank you for your service
Had to add a second comment. Each and every member is a peice of the backbone of the band. Take anybody out, and the back is broken. They acknowledge that, they encourage EVERY MEMBER to shine. Other than Polyphia, I can't even compare them to anyone. Akane has always reminded me of Taylor Hawkins though (I can't compare any band to Band-Maid, but Akane smiles so huge and slams the drums like Taylor Hawkins).
Welcome to BAND-MAID enjoy your journey down the Pigeon hole , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , Now you need to hear there amazing vocalist Saiki , Domination , Official live video .
Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band. Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors from Tokyo University. Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Frequently snacks between songs. MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls. Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).
They have a few instrumentals ... Saiki needs to pee ;) . If you like instrumental MAIDs I'd suggest Don't be Long and From Now On Miku Kobato (小鳩 ミク) - rhythm guitar, vocals, PR (Band founder, lyricist ... our flappy pigeon, po!) Kanami Tōno (遠乃 歌波) - lead guitar (musical composer extraordinaire - the princess) Akane Hirose (廣瀬 茜) - drums, percussion (see bananas ... and ramen - the gorilla) MISA MISA MISA - bass guitar (drinks hard liquor and performs without shoes on stage - the barefoot assassin) Saiki Atsumi (厚見 彩姫) - lead vocals ("we dance in the palm of her hand" - Domination - The Queen)
Oh my gosh, you have opened the floodgates. Why do you love this? Because they may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative band since the Beatles. (Yes, I stand by that statement!) You are going to get a lot of suggestions. First, a little background on the band: Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 29 years old MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 31 years old Kanami Tono - Lead guitar, Main composer and arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 32 years old Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 31 years old Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 32 years old Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through. She envisoned the idea of a maid-band that plays hard rock and metal. She recruited Kanami, after finding a Kanami guitar cover on line; Kanami then recruited Akane, who recruited MISA. Akane and MISA had been students together at the Tokyo Music Academy. The group decided they needed more vocal “oomph”, and collectively recruited Saiki. Miku didn't know how to play guitar when they started, so Kanami has been teaching her. She's become good so fast that she is really adding to the music mix, and Maidiacs are daring to dream of a dual shred. The band was struggling early on, and in 2014, even as the label was considering dropping them, they posted a music video, “Thrill” which went viral globally. When they realized what was going on, it gave them the momentum to forge ahead, and they have now done multiple tours of Europe and the U.S. and are building a global fanbase who call themselves the Maidiacs. They have released seven full albums, as well as several EPs, singles and music videos. They have put out around 160 songs, covering a wide variety of styles and sounds, without any duds. They combine a punk vibe with instrumental virtuosity (two things that are often seen as being incompatible), and have done some amazing progressive-rock songs with a metal edge to them. They toured the U.S. in 2022 and sold out 14 cities in less than 48 hours. Their fan base skews heavily to actual practicing musicians. Some of those followed the band to multiple dates and documented everything on youtube-some of the footage is hilarious. I’ve seen them twice (2019 and 2022) and their shows are truly life-reaffirming. They are touring the U.S. twice more in 2023; So far no announcements of another European tour but it seems likely in 2024. Band-Maid are that rare band that sound perfect live, even better than in the studio. No worries, we have plenty of love for MISA and every member of this band. It's not a good band but nearly perfect. And you haven't even heard Sai-chan yet. And not kidding, you can pick any song next.
Do us all a big favor and drop these anime ideas about them. It's like saying Van Gogh could paint your kitchen. And yes, I know they did some anime shit. But that's not the way they should be pointed out. They are so much more than that.
The songs they've done for anime are excellent and don't compromise them in any way shape or form. I mean...'Sense' FFS 👌 Elevates them from the punk and pop rock labels people give them...shows pristine musicianship.
Hi Dave i'm giving you your 72nd like for this great comment. Idk where i was, probably off sourcing coffee beans for Kanami somewhere.🤔
Greatest rock band on the planet. Incredibly talented musicians. The bassist is literally one of the greatest bassist in history.
The classic Band Maid joke at this point is, "Your favorite Band Maid song is whichever one you listened to last"
They just don't miss.
I agree with that. So hard for me to pick a favorite song or member, I go back and forth between Misa, Akane, Kanami, Miku and Saiki :)

@@skrrytch Thanks! Everyone should know their names! You mentioned *"Play"* which is _another_ excellent live video from Line Cube Shibuya...
A saying that many a Maidiac has said to many a newbie to BAND-MAID." You ain't seen nothing yet."

@@jeremydawkins8814 He'll be here for the final week of October.😁
@@HolloweenKlown-810 That's good to hear. As you know Gary is a registered trademark and any similarity could be considered extremely funny.

Congratulations on improving your life today by finding the Maids!! Welcome to the journey of a lifetime!!
Absolutely 👍🍻🍻
Funny thing is I'm sure most folks would read that and sense a bit of hyperbole. Little do they know, this is a band that really can change your life.
@@brunobryant4846 💯💯💯
Instant classic from Band-Maid!! Still has a special place in my heart in terms of their instrumentals.
We'll lead you 😅
Didn't think they could top this instrumental but they did. Check out FROM NOW ON. Peace. 4.22
Band-Maid is super dreadnought class ROCK group.🎸🎸
Bassist = Misa Misa Misa. The barefoot assassin.
Apparently as I dive more into them I'll understand the meaning behind the nickname
@@NavyDoc5184Reacts she doesn't wear shoes onstage when she plays, she drinks whiskey or beer onstage but she's slowed that down evidently and she kills you with her bass playing. Watch the live, on line performance of NO GOD and you'll understand.
A fellow USN Vet here. I saw Band Maid live in Phoenix last year…great show. Try Real Existence live.
Dude Band-Maid is a realy high class band and Misa the bass player is one of the best in the world playing today
Oh man, a great reaction to start with. Hell of a ride waiting for you with this band. Absolutely top tier in very respect. And you'll love the rhythm section of this band. Absolute gold and they're given plenty of love in songs and by fans.
Short intro to the band
Miku (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, second vocals, Lyricist, Band founder
Misa (The Barefoot Assassin) - Bass, beer and whiskey
Akane (Gorilla) - Drums, Bananas or any food for that matter
Kanami (Princess,Kanamincho or Mincho) - Lead Guitar, Genius composer, coffee and cakes
Saiki (Ice Queen) - Lead Vocals, Mesmorizing stage performer
Why did you have to take me back to boot camp with that??? Lol all good tho, I'm looking forward to this journey.
Hi, Doc!! Thanks for the good reaction!!! And also, thank you for mentioning Miku, the rhythm guitarist!!! Many musician friends of mine said the same thing, that you can be just a rhythm player or you can be a Great rhythm guitarist!!! And also, the harmonies and lines that Saiki, the lead vocalist, and Miku sing are sooo beautiful...😊
Thanx again, Doc, and cheers from Tokyo!!🤘😁
The main guitar, drums, and bass are world class. The main vocals are also great, and the side guitars and sub vocals are also great. There are also about 150 wonderful original songs, all of which are wonderful. There are very few groups like this in the world. Please enjoy.🤩
I'm sure I will!
Miku said she would learn the guitar if Kanami would be her sensi! Also Miku is the lyricist.
Welcome to the Band Maid rabbit hole!🔥🤘

Have fun.👍
Thanks also for giving credit to Miku for her good work as a rhythm guitarist in Onset. I rarely heard it. She worked so hard to get to this level.
Band-Maid is one of the best hard rock bands in the world ! They have done a few anime openings as well =) and they do have a great singer ! Check out "Domination" Official Live or the 'Blooming" MV Thanks Doc btw I was in the Navy 1976 - 1982
When it comes to hard rock, like acdc, kiss, ect., Band-Maid is the next big thing. Imo.
Welcome to the pigeon hole, po! You are about to start a musical journey with one of the best bands out there. Hang on and enjoy the ride!
A few of Band-Maid's songs were written for animes and at least one was written for a video game tournament.
Nice!
Yeeess!! And down the Pigeon Hole we go! So happy to see a new fan.
(Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
You forgot to mention that in the mid to late 70's Joan Jetts band The Runaways were absolutely huge in Japan. And they were the first all female band to do so. And the were all teenagers at the time.
Hej NavyDoc, welcome to the world of Band-Maid !
Hope to see more Band-Maid here.
You can count on it!
You're in the right band for loving bass players, Misa's never an afterthought in Band-Maid!
As a fellow navy guy hello ,
This is a well crafted instrumental however you have not even begun to get a feel for Band Maid .
Misa, the bass player, is called the barefoot assassin for a reason.
I'm looking forward to seeing why!
Please search for the title below and watch their unbelievable awesomeness.”BAND-MAID - Dice & Hate? at Lollapalooza 2023, with optimized audio”
Thanks brother! Great song and reaction. Thank you for your service.
Welcome to the world of Band Maid. Everybody shines in this band. I would strongly recommend you to continue with "From Now On" another instrumental song from them, it's heavier. Then back to their first hit in 2016 with "Thrill" and continue with their latest song "Shambles". You will see how far this band grown up. Then you can randomly select any song you want, they never had the bad song.
(Pssst! you mean lead guitarist Kanami. The drummer is Akane)
Just a minor edit 🙃...the lead guitarist is Kanami, aka Mincho. Akane, aka Gorilla, is the drummer. And I agree, Saiki is AMAZING!!! WORLD DOMINATION!!! PO!!!🕊 🤘😆🤘

Band-Maid is a hard rock band. Quite different from Lovebites. IMO they are the one of the best I have ever seen - and I have seen a lot in my 55 years. If you continue to peruse their music catalog, you may very well see what I mean!
Well you just found one of the best bands for drums and bass!

Hard rock band: Band-Maid
All around rock band: King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard
It's exciting times these days. Finally.
Bravo Zulu Shipmate🎉🎉 You just found the best band on the Planet!
Bravo Zulu...haven't heard that said in a hot minute!
Miku the rhythm guitarist started the band. Kanami the lead guitarist taught Miku how to play. When the band started 10 years ago Miku didn’t even play.
Welcome to the Maidiacs, NavyDoc.
Lots of instrumentation in these cuts, so nothing is lost:
Domination

Manners with Black Hole

I've noticed with a lot of groups live performances seem to be the way to go. For me I love seeing and hearing the energy of the crowd which just adds a magical touch to whatever is being performed.
7:41 of this video, did you notice the switch from picking to slapping?
Initially I did not, but it has been pointed out to me more than a few times. Gotta admit, that's one of the most impressive things I've seen from ANY bass player.
THE best band in the universe. And in any parallel universes too.
the best japanese women rock band
Welcome to Maid`s world!
How about Dice or black hall for the next song?
I hope you'll enjoy it!
To start down this path try "Play" live and "Real Existence" live. For MVs try "Influencer", and "Shambles." Nice reaction, thank you.
When you mentioned the bass player near the start I said to myself, good news, my friend, you've found the right band :)
This was one of the first Band-Maid tunes I heard about three years ago and it still blows my mind how good it sounds.
Band Maid -- kicking ass all over the world! (Lovebites, do a true U.S. tour in 2024 ,so that I can say the same thing about you)!
Nice reaction!
Do you like instrumental music? Be sure to listen to FromNowOn and WithoutHoldingBack. I think it will surprise you just like Onset.
FromNowOn:
Very tight and intense instrumental. The drums and guitar especially stand out.
WithoutHoldingBack:
It's funkier and the bass is wilder.
Best band on the planet 🤘🎎🤘🎎
No one will ever underrate either MISA or Akane. Nice reaction.

I suggest you watch DON´T YOU TELL ME live,Misa´s bass duelling with Kanami´s lead guitar.
If you like instrumental MAIDs I'd suggest Don't be Long and From Now On
Miku Kobato (小鳩 ミク) - rhythm guitar, vocals, PR (Band founder, lyricist ... our flappy pigeon, po!)
Kanami Tōno (遠乃 歌波) - lead guitar (musical composer extraordinaire - the princess)
Akane Hirose (廣瀬 茜) - drums, percussion (see bananas ... and ramen - the gorilla)
MISA MISA MISA - bass guitar (drinks hard liquor and performs without shoes on stage - the barefoot assassin)
Saiki Atsumi (厚見 彩姫) - lead vocals ("we dance in the palm of her hand" - Domination - The Queen)
Long drum solo on song Freedom
Oh my gosh, you have opened the floodgates. Why do you love this? Because they may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative band since the Beatles. (Yes, I stand by that statement!)
You are going to get a lot of suggestions. First, a little background on the band:
Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 29 years old
MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 31 years old
Kanami Tono - Lead guitar, Main composer and arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 32 years old
Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 31 years old
Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 32 years old
Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through.

It's funny I have the same reaction although I'm trying to change my paradigm, because I know some of those folks mean it as a true compliment.
Let him get to know them, he just found the band.
The songs they've done for anime are excellent and don't compromise them in any way shape or form. I mean...'Sense' FFS 👌 Elevates them from the punk and pop rock labels people give them...shows pristine musicianship.
What do you say to the bass solo? That's easy. "Misa! Misa! Misa!" -- Misa is the bassist, pronounced "MEE-sa"
Keith Richards is not the lead guitarist for the stones, Ron Wood is.
Band maid is better than love bites my opinion ❤
Dude you are commenting waaay too long.
The screen consisted mostly of the reacter !-----No good!----we'll find someone less egotistical to react.
