This is great. Finally Cassidy Freeman is interviewed! Is there a full version of this interview? Tess Mercer -- the thumbnail photo of her with Clark Kent (Tom Welling) is Perfect! Lex Luthor's half sister who chose a more enlightened path
and it was great she is such a cutie and fun and nice they couldn't keep her the bad guy for very long they had to make her fit with the group cause she's so lovable.
Before she even started didn’t want her to be on the show because you don’t want someone replacing lex, BUT she was great from that first episode to her last ! One of the best things of the later seasons
I think she made a mistake regarding her age when she first started Smallville because the math doesn't hold. According to her Wikipedia page she was born on April 22, 1980, and started Smallville in 2008 this puts her at around the age of 26 years old after Smallville aired in the fall. If we assume that she was cast in the role of Tess Mercer meaning that she learned that she got the role before April her birth month 2008 then she would have been 25 years old and 26 years old when they started filming in July. I use July as the date they started filming because Jensen a.k.a Dean Winchester mentioned in an interview that Supernatural ends in May or June and they get some time off and then start filming again in July. Since Supernatural was CW a show and so is Smallville I am using that as a baseline.
I do think she played Tess very well and she was a perfect cast. To date, there are only two interpretations of Lex Luthor that I like the first is Michael Rosenbaum and the second is Jon Cryer. I did not like Kevin Spacey's interpretation of the role or Gene Hackman. I am not saying their acting was bad but I saying I didn't like the way they portrayed the character in comparison to the two I mentioned.
She did a very good job for an amateur, I thought she was an established actress. I watched the seasons she was in as a teenager and I will tell you something, she scared the hell out of me. That means she did a great job as a villain.
Tess became a favorite character of mine and that’s rare for later seasons of shows. I loved how she became a huge supporter for the whole group and basically died protecting Clark and his journey becoming a hero. (Yes I know she technically comes back to life in the smallville comics)
This is great. Finally Cassidy Freeman is interviewed! Is there a full version of this interview? Tess Mercer -- the thumbnail photo of her with Clark Kent (Tom Welling) is Perfect! Lex Luthor's half sister who chose a more enlightened path
When Michael Rosenbaum and John Glover left the show after season 7, i felt there was a massive void after them because they were such a huge part of Smallville but i felt when Cassidy Freeman came in as Tess Mercer for season 8, she really helped fill the void that they left behind. Her character was very different to the Luthors but i thought she did an excellent job playing the villain / ally, she was a combo of Mercy Graves and Eve Tessmacher all wrapped up in one plus she was sexy as well. She was definitely the ultimate bad girl who was easy on the eyes but also an evil vixen who wasn't afraid to do whatever it takes to get what she wants. Loved her work in the final 3 seasons and was a perfect fit for the cast
She had one of my favorite scenes in the whole show! When she read the book to little Alexander!! I think it was Peter Pan. It was such a damn good scene, and she KILLED it!!
@Stephen Ford YO stephen, i've loved your work! you were the one that got me into ROBOPOCALYPSE (great short film btw) back in undergrad. I graduated USC and now work in drama dev @ cbs studios doing broadcast + cable/streaming. i'd love to connect w/ you. r u still in LA? let's pm.
@@mattg177 one that he’ll never remember after Tess’s poison taken affect. Man I loved this show and it’s really great to see Michael and Tom come together after 20 years. HUGE fan of the show and I do still religiously watch it from time to time.
For over a year or so now I've been watching Longmire on Circle TV, mother LOVES that show. To me it was the first time I saw Cassidy Freeman. Since the. I've seen her pop up on shows that were on before Longmire, as well as recently seeing her on NCIS: New Orleans. I don't remember Cassidy Freeman being on Smallville though...
Tess was my favorite female character in the final seasons. I hated, between lots of things of the series finale, how they wasted the character and made her die
Oh my god she was 24 when she started as tess I’m 24 now that is so strange tess was one of my favourites near the end of the series but she did have that bad streak until she redeemed herself which unlike lex she proved she was more then just a luthor
Tess was a great character - Cassidy Freeman did an amazing job. Love her work in longimre and in smallville. She did an amazing job with the depth of the role and her character's meandering morality. While I would have loved for Tess' arc to end a different way - she did a great job in the role and made it memorable.
I was worried when Lex left, as his shoes were big to fill. But Cassidy filled those shoes and then some. For someone to come in so late in a show, she was ace. She held her own in every scene. Even though she was a "baddie" to start with I couldn't help but love her Tess Mercer character.
People at my job say I'm a "private person" because I don't blad about my personal life or invite them to my house. I wonder if Tom is the same way. I'm always friendly to coworkers but emphasis is on the "ly."
What a beautiful woman. When she straightened her hair in season 8 I fell in love. Got that perfect tomboy look like Erica down pat. You want to play ball with her, roast marshmallows and jog, I'm not joking.💖
How the hell did I only just now put together that "Tess Mercer" sounds like Teschmacher. I'm college educated so, y'know... shows how much that's worth!
It was a little better. There is no Superman without Lex Luther but he wasn’t Superman yet he needed to come into that and he needed to be away from people like Lana and Lex to do so
@@shataysianelson9414 I agree with you on the point about Lana. I feel they drug out the Lana love interest why too long and brought in Lois way too early. Lana shouldn't of come back in Season 8. Clark was healing from her absence and even starting to look fondly at Lois. Of course the writers had to bring Lana back for a couple episodes just to create more drama 😑
TO be fair, "replacing MR" is probably more of a feature of the show's mind, not the audience. As an audience member, I thought of Tess as a brand new character, who yes, had to prove herself as an ally of Lex, but not a literal replacement.
First it was Chloe > Lana, then it was Lana > Chloe, then it was Lois > Lana > Chloe, then it was Chloe > Lois, then it was Tess > Chloe > Lois. For me, at least.
I totally think Cassidy is a hippie. Most people who smoke pot smoke it like a beer drinker. So Cassidy totally gives off that vibe to me. I’m not sure Michael could handle drugs.

Stopped watching when Michael referred to pot smoking as drug use. C’mon man just cause you don’t doesn’t mean it’s the same as snorting coke or shooting a line. Good lord.
She looks exactly the same. She seems very down to earth. She did a great job on smallville. Happy you had her on your podcast!
she even just had a baby too.
She's a Vampire.
Still really hot.
Is Smallville that old ?? Omg some of these actors haven’t aged that much

Her smile and her laugh made me smile. She's magnetically gorgeous. ❣️
Cassidy Freeman totally owned the role of Tess from the first time she appeared in 8x01 Odyssey all the way to the series finale.
and it was great she is such a cutie and fun and nice they couldn't keep her the bad guy for very long they had to make her fit with the group cause she's so lovable.
Yes Cassidy Freeman as Tess Mercer is excellent!! Very layered and powerful

Ya I always really liked her
Hello
You are american???
Definitely, I thought she was a great addition to a show.
Wow I didn't know she was only 24. Her character acted so mature I thought she was 27+. She played the character so well.
I thought that she was in her 30s.
Pretty hilarious that she was probably younger than Welling was when he played Clark in season 1 as a 15 year old.

WOw! I had no idea she had worked so little before booking Smallville. She was REALLY great as Tess.
Lex and his sister talking about pot smoking. Smallville really had everything didn't it.
She definitely exceeded expectations. She fit in WAAAAAYYY better than I thought she would

As someone who got introduced as a villain she changed and I always had a crush on her
Amazing woman. Loved from the first second she came on and was so happy to see her on longmire.
Cassidy Freeman nailed it playing Tess! She was so impassioned on Smallville. What a fantastic addition to the crew. 👏
I loved that she became like Clark’s ride or die.
Absolutely love her on Righteous Gemstones.

Her version of “Mercy” was a great reference to the source material.
I really liked her caracter in smallville the acting was so good and everything well written

She did a great job I liked her in the show. I just finished the show recently for the first time I never saw the show in it's original run.
She was really good on Longmire. Terrific show.
Good call, she was fantastic.
I love the Marriage episode where they get all trashed and they find them in the club jamming out..
That episode must have been so fun to film..
I loved her as Tess. It's always fun to see how nice and even vulnerable an actor or actress is when they can play a conniving hard ass villain.
I love seeing how down to earth she is.
didnt want any replacement but she was great, and think about it, she didnt even replace him , she had her own redemption story
Legit how I felt coming in to Teen Wolf in that second season.
Such a good show also 👊

Cassidy is even more beautiful than when she appeared on Smallville.
The hottest woman in show business. Damn right, I said it.
She was perfect as Tess. Felt like she was a vet, not a newbie. Impressive.
Great eyes great smile. Loved her on the show !!
The scenes were Tom and her teased being lovers was totally believable. They had great chemistry.
Jesus! She hasn't aged a day! Total vamp! She looks great.
