I went travelling in Japan a few months ago. Whilst I was there, I unfortunately got a tooth infection, and had to go find an emergency dentist to help me. I went to the help desk at Onomichi station for help (I was in a lot of pain and quite anxious about it), and the ladies who worked there were so incredibly kind and helpful, they found me a local dentist right away who would see me within the hour. I then went to the dentist, and even though they spoke no english, and i no Japanese, we managed to fix my tooth problem, not only extremely efficiently, and professionally, but ever so kindly. Everyone was just so nice. It was genuinley a really memorable experience that I found so charming, and will always remember my visit to Onomichi because of this :)
From the first few mins in, I knew this one was gonna be especially calm and relaxing!! I setup my projector and got cozy in bed for this and I’ve no regrets
Onomichi was one of my favorite destinations in all of Japan! My friend and I rented bikes there, took the ferry to Imabari, and biked back to Onomichi across all the bridges over two days. It was beautiful!
From Argentina, i spend 5 days watching this vlog while i was having breakfast or lunch. This is the most satisfying video of all time. Your videography and storytelling skills are amazing, the aesthetic is so curated. Thank you so so much for your art.
I went to Onomichi about 2 weeks ago, it was probably my favourite destination of my whole trip. I was there 2 nights to really soak it in. The locals were the nicest ever and i've never felt more welcomed in any place ever. Thank you for this great video. Its like reliving that experience.
@@jordanw8382 lol I'm sorry for not giving the context beforehand. Reading my original comment now, it does sound weird if you're not aware of the game lol
@@samuel.jpg.1080p I was looking for a comment like this :-) Understandably, I think a lot of people would be confused, lol. But even within the world of the Yakuza/Like A Dragon games, the rendition of Onomichi is genuinely serene and peaceful, especially if you explore the town at sundown
This video is so beautiful. I’ve visited Onomichi before and loved it but watching this video made me fall in love all over again. Thank you for all of the time and effort and magic you put into your videos
All your cafe hopping are rather exquisite and on the level of Wes Anderson. Thanks for showcasing how Japan's little towns have tucked away secret cafes that are both coffee culture contemporary and fun. Keep travelling and dining.
Watching from Vancouver, Canada. Visited Onomichi in January. It's like stepping back in time. I loved it. At the time I was there, tourists were few and far between. If you're looking for another quaint, Ghibli-esque town, I highly recommend Tomonoura in Fukuyama. It's an easy bus ride from Fukuyama station and the inspiration for Ponyo by the Sea.
@@Dan-sw8tg You can fly into Hiroshima Airport and take a direct bus into Onomichi. But most people will take the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Fukuyama, via Okayama and change to the local line to Onomichi. If you are visiting from Hiroshima, you can take a Hikari train to Mihara and change there for the local line to Onomichi.
How beautiful this video is ! You gave me a place to visit with my partner (future) I loved every part of the video. Detailed, covered everything, Showed how beautiful it is to witness a slow zen life. Thank you so much
Your channel has been a great discovery. What a treat! And here, what a beautiful way to discover Onomachi. I am a big new fan of yours, from Latin America.
Welcome to Hiroshima! Thank you for spreading the charm of Onomichi from such a great location. I also love Onomichi. After watching the video, I want to go there again for the first time in a long time. Please come visit us again!😊😸❤
I have been watching your Japan vlogs over and over again. Love the way you guys present your perspective of things. Can't wait to go to places you've visited in Hokkaido and Tokyo in a week's time.
This city appears in the game Yakuza 6 and the city's mascot (Onomichio kun) appears in several games in the franchise as well. As always a very good video!
this was absolute cinematographic heaven! So so beautifully filmed. You've inspired me to be more creative when I make my reels. May I ask what camera you use?
Sad that you guys don’t game, because Onomichi is a major location in one of the most popular game franchises to come out of Japan - Yakuza aka Like A Dragon. In the 6th game, the protagonist (Kazuma Kiryu) moves here to solve a mysterious hit and run involving his adopted daughter. You’d be amazed how lovingly the town is recreated in the game. Those stairs are also in it, and the train etc
So far the best part of the series climate-wise, in my opinion. I think Onomichi contributed to it greatly with it's serene atmosphere :) As a side note I was honestly looking to seeing Onomichio in the video, but I suppose it's a game-only thing :)
Great video. I love your sense of humor. Onomichi is a great place. There is a wonderful little Okonomiyaki restaurant called 笑門 Shoomon at 1 Chome-1-6 Kuriharanishi. I was there to ride the Shimanami Kaido to Imabari. Can't wait to get back.
Hi from Trois-Rivières, Québec! Your vlog is on point as we will be in Onomichi next month 😊. Haven’t though of changing train in Fukuyama instead of going all the way to shin Onomichi, so thank you for that! And I am taking notes of your recommandation. We are biking the Shimanami Kaido and visiting Shikoku after that. As you do, we just love Japan. Coming back again and again. Cheers!

wow, knew this place as the setting of me and my partner's favourite game series (yakuza/like a dragon) and now one of my favourite couple-youtubers come to the same place?? dream come true
Onomichi! My favourite town in Japan. I stayed in a beautiful guesthouse with a beautiful view, right under the Senkoji temple (Miharashi-tei) and was cautioned by them, to leave my big luggage in a station locker:,) I've chanced upon Onomichi while having two weeks to go from Fukuoka to Nagano to start my job and I was just randomly clicking on Google maps and saw the famous view with the pagoda and was like, I have to go there! Liked it so much, that I've extended my stay and even did the Shimanami Kaido.
I just wanted to tell you that I love the way that you are capturing this place in your use of framing and videography. It’s quite beautiful and I was just about to comment on the Wes Anderson thing when I saw that you already mentioned it. Thank you for your work
Oh my god I’m flying to Japan from the Netherlands next week to spend 3 days in onomichi. Can’t believe you guys put this video out right now! I even don’t know if I should watch it!? Whaa
I always learn from and appreciate your shot framing. As you mentioned though, this place presents you with "so" many magic opportunities for video and photo. Too many favorite shots to mention this time! Now, I really want to visit there. You guys and your videos are wonderful!
