One of the most thorough yet quick videos I've seen for working on the civic. Most videos people are annoying with guys blabbing on, talking to themselves slowly and it takes forever etc. Nicely done. Thanks.
Wow. Can't believe I paid $100 once for a transmission service when this was all that needed to be done. Doing that and oil changes at home now. Cheers for the video bud!
I purchased a Honda civic 2010. Odometer was about 79,000. I drive an insane amount to work. I really need to start getting things like this done, as I have no car maintenance history at all. I can do this myself, as I have the tools. This video will help me for sure.
Great video, concise. Very easy job. I agree with doing this every 30,000 miles. My mom gave me her 2008 Honda Civic with 78,000 miles, which is low mileage for a car that age. I just changed the transmission fluid today (it had never been changed before), and fluid was a grayish brown, instead of red. Was a fair amount of metal sludge on the drain plug magnet as well. I'm going to do one or two more drain and fills in the next few weeks to 'catch it up' and have nice, red transmission fluid.
Wow. A Civic with only 78,000 miles. Geesh, that's no mileage for a Honda. I'm getting a friend of mines Civic in about an month with 163,000 miles. Drives really nice and sounds great. Did you notice a difference with all the changes?
I did two more drain and fills shortly after my first comment. The transmission fluid is a nice cherry red. Now I only have to do one change every 30K.
Most excellent! Some points you might try. Keep and mark ounce levels on some old plastic juice jugs for using. Drain out into one. Put a mark on jug. I use a piece of painters tape. Drain that into another jug and refill with new ATF right to the mark. That way you’re assured of putting in exactly what came out without measuring anything. This approach works great for other car fluids too. These jugs drain overnight almost completely then just a little gasoline in them to clean them up for next time. Mine took 85 ounces or 2.65 quarts. Great video
Thank you very much. So thorough and easy to follow. Just today I noticed my car was no switching gears properly. So I checked the moto and transmission and turns out I was empty on the transmission fluid. Here I’m hoping the motor has not been damaged.
Doing my first trans change on this generation civic. Doing 09. I specifically looked for your vid and badda bing this came up. Honda makes models with different transmissions, some have a conventional automatic transmission (like in this video) and some have Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVTs). Most newer Honda now have CVTs. That being said, I am not aware of any 2010 Civics (in the US) that have CVT transmissions. Don't take my word for it, go to a Honda dealer parts department with the VIN and they can tell you what it needs.

This gets a lil less than half the fluid out. My Civic I bought recently was neglected. I wanted all the fluid out. You do this process 4 times. So do I really need 2.5 quarts? I have never changed it before but on other trans fluid drain and fill videos it says only about 1/3 of the old fluid actually drains out?
Find the transmission line that leaves cooler or radiator and take it loose and put it in bucket, start car and run while you add fluid, when fluid clears up running in bucket, shut engine off check fluid and add if needed. Your done and all fluid is new, not 2 1/2 new and 4 quarts old mixed together

Great video! One question, does the amount you jack the front end up impact the amount of transmission fluid that drains out? Would it perhaps drain a higher or lesser amount if you had it on a lift and not jacked out?
Sometimes it can make a slight difference, I have tried it both ways and the difference is pretty negligible. That being said, I don't recommend jacking it up higher than necessary to do the job. Thanks for the comment!
Appreciate the video. I am wondering though when looking at another video, and looking at yours. The other guy lifted the car to just loosen the plug, then let the car run until the fan turned on. After that he lifted the car up and drained the oil, is the similar aspect of you running the car for 60 seconds before seeing if the fill line is correct? I didn't see much difference in what you both did, seems straightforward. We all appreciate your help, you know how it is as you're saving us $150 per comment on this post.. @@BigDog50001 Ok , I replaced both CV axles on my sons 2007 Civic and it lost some fluid. I need to top it off and plan on performing a drain and fill, so good to know this. Thanks for the info.
As clean as it could be. Thank you.
👍
Thank you by you time and share this video, une cuestión, do I need replace transmisión oil filter or is not necessary?
I made a video on it. ua-cam.com/video/0o4lh9_AyG0/v-deo.html
Great job man, Please don't forget to answer this. Thank you
Hello I am at the bottom harsh line since my transmission has been leaking. How much fluid is it from bottom to top line because I don't want to overfill.
I was waiting for Too Short to start rapping to that track at the end
He wasn't available lol!

thanks! and where do u recommend I find the lowest price for the required Honda transmission fluid.
Not sure because I get it by the case, but if I was only going to buy three bottles I would probably check Amazon or your local Honda Dealer because of shipping costs.
How often do you change the AT filter?
Hello bro...hope ur fine ...can u make video on how to clean catalytic converter of Honda civic 2006-10 model...easy nd best way... waiting for ur videos

Can you do a video on how to align your headlights on a 2007 Honda Civic please and thanks
Arturo Hernandez Thanks, I will see what I can do.
Arturo Hernandez Lmfaoo Arturo you a lame
It's necessary to buy the original version of the fluid?
I recommend using genuine Honda fluid.
You can use Idemitsu H Plus,
Its the same atf fluid, DW1
As long as its DW1 atf fluid its good for honda.
I use it on my civic, and the transmission shifts great.
do u recommend changing the transmission filter too?
