Strapping Young Lad was never completely serious. It was an outlet for his anger but also had a morbid sense of humor. The first song of their first album ended with
“Howdy, welcome to A&W. My name's Devin. Can I take your stinkin' order?”
Said album also ended with an ice cream jingle... FROM HELL
