    Purchased: August 2022 - still works GREAT! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn I live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install.This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    The most important choice I would say is “what type of dehumidifier technology is being used. Desiccant are generally more expensive to run, but are much more effective at temps below 18 degrees. Desiccants also tend to warm the atmosphere, where as compressors don’t.

    Perhaps you should have considered desiccant type dehumidifiers.....
    "Ambient Temperature - Desiccant dehumidifiers work well in ambient temperature range between 1 to 40 degrees Celsius. Compressor dehumidifiers only work well between 16 to 40 degree Celsius."
    In our home and use a compressor type dehumidifier was very much useless. The difference when using the desiccant type was amazing in the water extraction.

      I use compressor DH to dry shipping storage container and it works well around 10C degrees or more. I don't bother to run it around 5C, because it is too cold and I don't want to waste solar power. Absorbtion DH heats the air and uses more power, so compressor could reach effectively the same performance, just ad some heating. At 20C it is the most efficient.

I was thinking of just getting a 25L for the extra large water container, but if it will be noticably louder I"m not sure I would want it, Also because you were wearing a lapel Mic close to your mouth we probably weren't hearing how loud your demo unit was

    Fantastic video mate. Tell me something about the number of bedrooms and extraction rates that u mentioned please. You are using it in one bedroom at a time or placeing it in the hallway? Because there is a dehumidifier company that states that their dehumidifer will work on multiple rooms if placed in the central hallway. Will that actually work if the doors to multiple rooms are open? How will it switch off when a certain threshold is reached in such a case? In this case, it will take the humidity level in the hallway to switch off I am guessing?

    • @lords-electrical
      @lords-electrical  8 місяців тому +2

      Most dehumidifiers will work in a hallway rather than just in an individual room but will clearly not be as effective in each room as it is trying to dehumidify several rooms in 1 go. It can still switch off when it it reaches a certain threshold it is almost taking an average of all the rooms.

    I used to run a desiccant model (EcoAir) upstairs and found it would stay on most of the time and the air would get too dry and give me dry eye issues in the morning. I swapped over to the Ebac model which is a compressor type dehumidifier with smart mode features which monitors the house humidity and switches on automatically, this can be overridden if laundry is being dried however I find that my Ebac model will switch on automatically if the heating comes on and raises humidity in the house, there is a 5 liter tank which I only need to empty twice a week maximum you can also use an anti microbial filter on the unit which if there is a lot of dampness and black mold the filter will significantly reduce, a quick note though as with all dehumidifiers you will need to treat the black mold with strong bleach initially to kill the mold, if there are large areas then wear a face mask and eye protection when washing off, once this is done turn your dehumidifier to max and leave for a few days to draw ambient moisture out to begin drying the area out.
    Once the household moisture is under control if using an Ebac then leave on smart mode and it will run itself and when full the red tank full indicator light will come on and the unit will stop until emptied. I cannot stress enough the importance of reducing household humidity which leads to black mold and spores which are pretty toxic, many houses during the winter have their eating on and cook shower and moisture generated from occupants will worsen the problem so the moisture will condensate on windows and areas like bathrooms and bedrooms and mold will take a hold.A decent dehumidifier like the Ebac I have will cost over £200 but over time the unit will save money as humidified air requires more heating than drier air and the health benefits are not something that a price can be put on in my opinion, I definitely recommend every house using one over the cold winter months. I hope my information helps those considering buying a dehumidifier.
