They make both types. I prefer the traditional because it crashes easier and doesn’t ping as much/also doesn’t sound as glassy as a brilliant. It’s not super dark either like a k dark or something. It’s the only cymbal I trust apart from the A custom 20” ride (not the medium one) for crashing on.
He doesn’t even know the type of snare and size he’s using? I mean it’s not a big deal, some drummers just don’t care that much about gear compared to super gear heads who know and need to know every spec of everything they use and he’s just the kind of drummer that just wants to play whatever is in front of him. Tony royster jr and Thomas pridgen and ronald Bruner are the same way he never really knows anything about what kit or cymbals he’s using at the time since he uses different gear all the time. But then there’s drummers like Thomas Lang Matt Garstka Matt halpern who all are super in tune with every piece of equipment they have and pick out their gear and sound specifically for their sound and bands.
He's just a genuine down to earth guy, brilliant drummer and a good video! :)
What a lovely guy. Saw them live a few weeks ago, he's a seriously talented drummer.
"Made of China or something"
Oooh Dan, I see what you did there.
Wish these guys would treat us to a bit of a solo at the end of their videos.
Those hi-hats are massive.
My favorite drummer:)
The A line was revamped not the A Custom.
Amazing drummer, great sense of humour.
I'd love to see him playing British drum company one day then I'd appreciate his cymbal set up and his drums
How do you not know what sizes or material you're playing?
But he knows his snare wire count. Odd.
mrbucket75 right???
he said it was maple!
Even his signature stiks hahaha
Dan - they DO make 16" light hats, and thomas pridgen uses 18-19" crashes as hats haha
This was filmed about 4 days or so after NAMM 2014, so he probably wasn't aware at the time.
moonodude17 They came out 6 years ago haha
Declan White they were gone until they brought em back at namm this year. That being said, he's an artist. I'm sure they could've got him some 16"s
Does anyone know if the 21" A Sweet Ride is traditional or brilliant finish?
traditional

If I have A go to Ride cymbal from Zildjian, It would be 21 A series Sweet ride with not traditional. Brilliant finish!
did anyone else notice on his last video he said he a had a nickel snare? he plays 14 x 6.5 brass snare. you can check on the sjc artist page
Yeah! And did the SJC discontinued the 6.5 brass snare with die cast Hoops?
On the future, a drummer is a future DW Drum Artist soon.
