Green Day @ PVHS video # 12: 'Disappearing Boy'

- Опубліковано 19 кві 2010
- Shortly after changing their name from Sweet Children to Green Day, this band performed at the annual Foreign Foods Day at Pinole Valley High School in Pinole, California. This was filmed on May 10, 1990. The quality is good because a professional quality Sony video camera - not a camcorder - was used. This second set was filmed by a couple classmates of mine. I filmed the second Green Day set using a conventional VHS camcorder.
25 years later... they're in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
We’re now pushing nearly 30 years that’s fucking insane bro
@@zanderbear2487 31 years*
@@Max_factor77 32*
I wish they still made music like this
Yeah, well, they're no longer 18, are they? ;-)
Fuk dude I wish too
Martin Temelkov dumbass comment
@@jg7102 why?
@@ramirovca yeah of course but you can still prefer that kind of music :D and i personally think there are also still differences between the music and lyrics. they also turned from a kinda punk rock band into pop punk
This is history in the making right here. None of them know that Green Day is going to be one if the biggest & best bands of the 21st Century.
Patriot_Fighter even though they betrayed their original thoughts when the 2000s rolled around
@Alexander Beck they didn’t betray anything, they grew up and matured. They can’t make music about teenage angst forever.
Hat hair level over 9 thousand
Weird to think everyone at this high school crowd is pushing 50 now
True
😨
So sad😢
It must be weird to be in this crowd and later on see them become one of the biggest bands in the world.
After 31 years, we still search for this:)
thats the infancy of a legendary hall of fame band right there, unbelievable stuff.
@Jadex3x3 these kids in the crowd are witnessing history, they have no idea that the kids in the band are going to be one of the biggest of the 21st century
so much raw energy, it's amazing
People got no idea that legends are being made infront of them
this is my aesthetic
I wish I’d lived in the 90s
That dude video taping this video probably sold the tape for quite some figures.
No, he uploaded it himself to UA-cam.
i love this so much. such good songwriters. bj really has his own voice. he found it so early in his life
when i watch this video i want to cry...nothing is as good as the old days.maybe I think of growing old
they're actually so tiny here i love it
It's unreal how weird it is not seeing a crowd just a few people standing there. The people at the back are just walking along, not knowing that in about ten years time they would be one of the biggest band in the world!!
Happy 29 years!
i watch this video every day! i cant stop watching it!!!!!!
do you still watch it?
@@natatk1570 Fr tho lol
These guys are gonna be big some day
I love how he mixed in I Don't Know by Ozzy Osbourne at the bridge of the song. That was great.
This is flipping awesome! Thanks so much for posting, I am a huge fan, Perhaps Billy will see this and remember where he came from...we can only hope:) No GD hate intended, just a concerned fan.
How you feeling now?
Even at that young age they had an unreal list of songs, pretty much all of kerplunk and smooth. Unbelievable to anyone who's actually listened to those albums properly.
That part when he jumps to start the song, it's like he picks music and friends over the girl..crazy
That's such a great analysis, i love old comments like these
“Stick with bois, must always”
Damn, the quality is still pretty good for this kind of performance lol
The opening riff is from Led Zeppelin's "Bring It On Home" :)
OMG!!!! THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Green day, where have you been all my life?!
I had my doubts of where I belong IT'S SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Best lyric
ladies and gentlemen drake bell on the drums
Oh damn 😬😂
For anyone who doesn't know who the drummer in this video is his name is John Kiffmeyer he left Green Day in the same year this video was shot to attend college full time and then Tre Cool joined shortly after John left but even though John quit he was one of the producers of their next album Kerplunk in 1992.
Was the drummer John Kiffmeyer?
Yes or also known as Al Sobrante
Ha ha look at the crowd! Oh dear I used to dress like that. The best days of my life:)
I want to be this some day soon
Classic as hell man
This video embodies green day for me
que buen video! una joyita la verdad... gracias por subirlo!
I went to Pinole good times
Geek fest was the best
You lucky shit went to Geekfest!
@operationdestroy oh i love it.. he checks her out and smiles at her as you can see and then right when she starts to walk over he turns and goes into the song
also. i love how well Ozzy's lyrics fit with this song.
I wish they still made music like this nothing like old school green day
Maybe their best experience... thanks a lot :D
If you ever screw up, put it this way. You'll never screw up as much as John leaving Green Day.
Wow, John is just awesome. He sure loves Ozzy, he even got up to sing that part when he had a cast on his leg.
it seems like she want to ask him something, but he turned on microphone fast
I think I saw a girl with sandals and socks
THIS IS GOLD!
Erano così teneri :3
i would be crying if i was that close to billie joe
man they were so badass xD mike is killin it on bass yo
Holy shity john is playing drums! What a rarity
The early 90s... when green day was pure and true
que demais!
They've been known to take requests of their older songs. But either way they still make a point to play at least one song fom kerplunk or 39/smooth.
Los puntos amos!!! Estos son sweet children
Аааа мне ещё года не было ... Полгода от рождения ...
Oh and also, he literally says “I am the disappearing boy”. He is the disappearing boy ghosting everyone because his life sucks ass because his crush has a boyfriend, and he doesn’t want to deal with anyone. Relatable honestly, mans was just trying to cuff a baddie 💯🗣💔💔

This is crazy!!!!! Those guys had no idea their band would become the biggest punk band in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Now you see me, now you don't
Don't ask me where I'm at
'Cause I'm a million miles away
Treated like a forbidden heel
Don't say my thoughts are not for real
Or you won't see me again
Am I here or am I there
Or am I playing on the stairs
Am I in my room with my toys
I am the disappearing boy
When I walk in crowded rooms
I feel as if it is my doom
I know that I don't belong
In that room I see her
I see her and she's with him
I turn and then I'm gone
Don't call me up 'cause I'm not home
My whereabouts are now unknown
I vanished from all your joy
I'm the disappearing boy
I have my doubts
Of where I belong
It's something to think about
Disappearing Boy
Ahora me ves, ahora no lo haces
Now you see me, now you don't
No me preguntes dónde estoy
Don't ask me where I'm at
Porque estoy a un millón de kilómetros de distancia
'Cause I'm a million miles away
Tratado como un talón prohibido
Treated like a forbidden heel
No digas que mis pensamientos no son reales
Don't say my thoughts are not for real
O no me volverás a ver
Or you won't see me again
¿Estoy aquí o estoy allí?
Am I here or am I there
¿O estoy jugando en las escaleras?
Or am I playing on the stairs
Me voy a ir a casa?
Am I in my room with my toys
Soy el chico que desaparece
I am the disappearing boy
Cuando camino en habitaciones llenas de gente
When I walk in crowded rooms
Siento como si fuera mi perdición
I feel as if it is my doom
Sé que no pertenezco
I know that I don't belong
En esa habitación la veo
In that room I see her
La veo y está con él
I see her and she's with him
Me doy la vuelta y luego me voy
I turn and then I'm gone
No me llames porque no estoy en casa
Don't call me up 'cause I'm not home
Mi paradero es ahora desconocido
My whereabouts are now unknown
Desaparecí de toda tu alegría
I vanished from all your joy
Soy el chico que desaparece
I'm the disappearing boy
Tengo mis dudas
I have my doubts
De donde pertenezco
Of where I belong
Es algo en lo que pensar
It's something to think about.
This video footage is fucking priceless!
Great hat hair!
More technical difficulties XD
I get why there isn't such a big crowd, because Green Day wasn't that popular at the time, but come on, you see guys that adorable, how could you not at least stop to listen for a bit? :3

and does anyone know if they still play these songs at their modern concerts? from SOSH and Kerplunk?
This song is Disappearing Boy.
@Jadex3x3 I Don't Know by Ozzy Osbourne. Hence why Mike then says "Scream if you like Ozzy" afterwards x]
Billies hair looks like a scoop of vanilla ice cream when his hat fell off

I believe Billie Joe was using a Fender Bassman head, it looks like a Hiwatt cab as well
What rigg/amp is mike playing trough? Mesa boogie? Accoustic cab (10"?)
@NeutralSnap Actually he join on the kerplunk album
What the amplifiers they had on this videoclip? :)
I really loved it when they started singing Ozzy Osbourne. it was really really funny =)
the original Beatles drummer was kicked out. I'm pretty sure it was the same for John, but I could be wrong
HarrySkinner7 Nope, John left to go to college and to start a family.
Great song!! Which Ozzy song is that???They had punks at their school???awesome.
Somebody tell me what song does billie joe cover in 0:38
He played the riff of bring it on home- led Zeppelin, they also used that riff live at Madison square garden as an intro to black dog
***** Thanks man! I should have remembered That...
This is where Green Day peaked.
Have you been at an Operation Ivy show with that camera?
haha, well said.
I think they maybe needed better microphones or the sound guy needed to turn up the vocals...doesn't matter, can still discern the seeds of greatness
"more technical difficulties"
he sounds like bullwinkle the moose
Billie moves funny xD
are they playing a full step down?
Yeah
cjstroked nope. It’s a HALF step down. (E flat)
That isn't the usual drummer is it ?
