Was wondering if the relevance of the topic of our research projects matter a lot when applying for postgrad programmes (eg, whether ClinPsy programmes favour clinical-related projects)? Or are they simply looking to see if you are able to conduct independent research? Would appreciate if you could answer this! Thank you :)

That’s a great question and now I’m wishing I would’ve been more specific in the video Lol my sense is that if you plan to apply to clinical psych PhD programs, the admissions committee would be expecting that you have begun to do research and/or plan to do research on a topic within clinical psychology. For example, most research conducted by clinical psych PhD students revolves around mental health/illness. I’m a bit less clear about how much flexibility there is in the scope of the research you’ve done prior to applying, but I think what would be most important is that you communicate both in your personal statement and in your interview if you make it to the interview stage is that you intend to conduct clinically-oriented research.
